Re: Small Tau Project - Showcase

Great paint job! White is really hard to do well, and that looks amazing. Same goes for the Kroot; I'm loving the little spots near their crest and it adds an extra oomph to them.

Re: 'Ard Boyz

I'm planning on attending 'Ard Boyz, at least at the moment. And I'll be playing Tau. My MVU...well, I'd have to say that the way I play things, its more a combination of units rather than one, so I'll pass on that. As far as the unit I fear...I don't know yet. I'll tell you after :D

I actually like the look of crypt ghouls. I think they have the feel of 'feral' kroot who eschew weapons to rip and tear faster.

[Question] Standing Crisis Suits

I've been putting together a crisis suit in a dynamic pose; feet spread, half crouching, with a weapon pointing. The problem lies in getting it to stay upright on the base. The weak ankle joints won't hold, and with the pose its in, I have no place to put the clear flying stand (heck, the feet are b...

Re: A New Persons Guide to 40k- The Tau Learning Curve Shock

One of the things I would recommend for new players is making a list. Not an army list (hopefully you've already got one), but more like a checklist of things do to for each phase. Have it out in the open on the table and check it each time you have a turn. It will help you remember the basics, and ...

Re: Disruption Pod question that came up today.

I'm of the opinion that it would get a save. Whether or not the blast was aimed at the vehicle it hit, it was fired at from a distance of greater than 12". Pg 30 in the BRB under Blast in regards to scatter: "...In these cases hits are worked out as normal...". As I see it, it's as if...

Re: [NEW] The XV9 : Thoughts on the Experimental Rules

Another thing to think of is this: Why are you dropping your XV-9 between the enemy and your own line? Drop them behind them, in between the front elements of the enemy and those further back. Give them a choice, and even if they do use that free 6" of movement, then its in a direction you choo...

Re: [NEW] The XV9 : Thoughts on the Experimental Rules

First off: Looooooove the look of it. Dynamic, sleek, and powerful. Even with the BC's, I would love to use a unit of these. A unit of 2 with gun drones, drop them down where they can torrent of fire what you need them to. Heck, I'd hope they get assaulted, just kill the GD's and hop back out again.

Re: Battle Report: 1850 Tau vs Space Marine

To answer your first question, they were all in teams of 2. Oh, I'm well aware that I made mistakes in that game. And when I wrote that batrep it had been a few days, so I might have mis-remembered a few things.

Re: [ATT Objective Marker Entry] Wolfs16's Objective Markers

For the ramp, if you've got the bits, could you use the intake vents from the Devilfish/Hammerhead's engine? Use two, put them side by side and you've got some steps. I don't know how this would look in real life, I'm just pondering...

How to Build an Army List

With many upcoming tournaments, be they Game Day Events or whatnot, and many new enthusiasts joining the ranks, lots of people have trouble making lists that work at the upper point levels (i.e. 2500 area) in which many tourneys are played. Others might have played at these point levels before, but ...

Re: A couple of rules questions

As for #1: It doesn't count as winning the assault, but you can force a morale check by causing 25% casualties on the squad. 5th Ed says that if they take 25% casualties in any phase, then they must take a test. Pg 44 says "A unit that is locked in close combat doesn't have to take morale check...

Re: Marker Light Question Tau Newbie

Unless the pathfinders in question have a target lock (i.e the rail rifle equipped pathfinders or the shas'ui with HW target lock), then no; they must all fire at the same target. However, they don't all have to use their markerlights; you can pick and choose what each model is firing. That being sa...
