I hate to say it, but Kai is right. The argument "GD+SS vs pure SS" is age old and has boiled down to pure taste/style. I would list all the pros and cons and then give my opinion, but I've done so at least half a dozen times already on this board and on Dakka, so anyone with a bit of time...

While it is true that you will be able to split your BC and ML fire, I don't think the unit is very practical. Basically the two jobs you have in mind for it are practically incompatible. On the one hand you have 2 MLDs so if you want to use them you can't JSJ, and you do want to use them because yo...

I agree with you about the "have to" thing, but this time either you can believe me, or read through those 6 pages and then believe me, its up to you really.

Thank you Afghan Jones, that was the word I was looking for, variance. The PR only has one area of variance: To Hit; the CIB has three To Hit, To Wound and Save, by giving it BS5 you're effectively eliminating one area: To Hit and reducing the Save considerably.

the entire point is that you don't NEED the BS5. it helps. but then again, the BS5 also helps the plasma rifle, or the missile pod, or the markerlight. I feel like I've typed this a thousand times already. I think you don't understand PROBABILITY . With BS5 you get more hits right ? Which means the...

Thanks for the maths on that Ryzouken, however those are only average results. Could someone do the maths on probability of getting kills ? Because that is where I think the CIB benefits way more from the increased BS. Simply because the higher the BS the higher the chance of rolling a 6 to wound.

I'm afraid Delichon is quite correct, the CIB benefits a lot more from BS5 than the PR, Fb or any other weapon. The reason is very very simple: The PR's biggest hurdle is usually hitting. Once it has hit it almost always kills. The CIB on the other hand has to hit and wound with a 6 before it does a...

The way I've always looked at template type weapons (including blast templates) is, rather than assuming a certain number of models get covered, to look at the breakpoint at which the template weapon equals whatever it is I'm comparing. For example, in the case of the AFP, it needs to cover 5/2 mod...

Against DG is one case where no one can honestly claim that FK isn't the best config ever to grace the table top, at all ranges it is the most effective two-weapon config. I've played a lot against DG and used to frequent http://www.deathguard.org quite a lot, back when I was still fantasising (brit...

Didn't any of you read the title of the post ? The title is MEq Kill Ratio Comparison. Israfel is comparing the two only at killing MEqs, nothing else. And he is right, the AFP is a better MEq killer when on a BS3 suit. Its is by far the better of the two against infantry (except 2+ saves). However,...

I wrote that the DL is obligatory because it simply is. Even if it only gets used once every 3 games then its worth it. Very good article there Meph. This is great for those who are new to the army. My only suggestion is a mention of the gun drones that come basic with the devilfish. These guys are ...

I don't think DS should be ruled out just like that. I use it maybe once in every 15 games or so, mostly to deal with indirect tanks that my Railheads can't get at. More rarely because I get so horribly out-deployed that I have no safe place to delpoy my Crisis, so I keep them in reserve and hope th...

[Tactica] Devilfish Upgrades

The Devilfish Armoured Personal Carrier is almost without the doubt the second best dedicated transporter in Warhammer 40'000, second only to the Wave Serpent. It can carry 12 models, is well armoured, well armed and, for a dedicated transport, extremely tough to bring down. The Devilfish has access...

This is very interesting, however I doubt that anyone is going to come to any kind of conclusion here. The reason is that with most of our units it is very hard to have too much of XY. And the point at which one has too much of XY depends on a number of very personal things: army composition, metaga...

Your post is a bit chaotic, it doesn't really make sense. why is that such an issue though? I can understand the Heavy Support slot (mind you, it is only one, and you can still get the two Railheads), but an Elite slot for a SMT is a fair, if not totally unbalanced trade. Lets rack up the following ...

I doubt it. They don't have the mobility to keep up with the SS (SMT are out anyway as they take up an Elite slot).
