Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

On dakka dakka someone did some math and came up with thsi formula: ((cheapest unit cost + most expensive unit cost)/2)*20 = power level Then the question is how they could screw it up so badly if there was such a formula to begin with. It's more likely that this formula happens to fit most units b...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

Yeah and as I also already said before the FW Index feels pretty rushed. Power Rating differences are just one of the more minor things there. Also the fact that the Power Rating to Points conversion doesn't work in your examples is further proof that they DON'T have a proper formular to calculate o...

Re: Crisis Bodyguard and Sworn Protector

Not sure if that's possible since their own special rule already explicitly says the Bodyguard unit gets the Mortal Wound. That's actually something I had my on from the very first read-through and think it needs a FAQ entry for sure. Agreed it needs a FAQ, i'd never do it as i believe that its a w...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

Why cant you translate them like that? If you take an average across the game, which is a very solid 20.2 points per power, you can use that as a baseline for it. Also, here is a quote from GW themselves on power: Power Ratings are designed to give players, at a glance, an idea of how mighty a unit...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

As I said in the other FW thread: You really can't translate the Power Rating into Points like that. But apart from that, the FW Indices feel even more rushed than the GW ones. Lots of stupid mistakes in there. The most ridiculous one though is the Tiger Shark. His only noteworthy weapon are the two...

Re: Crisis Bodyguard and Sworn Protector

And the +1A really isn't worth it. A 3 Bodyguards will still only inflict 2 wounds on average against T3-4 and that's before saves. So with some luck you do 1 damage...yay. Crisis are already expensive as they are, no need to increase their cost even more for some super minor effect if you don't pla...

The gold is a REALLY interesting choice...and since you didn't overdo it, it actually looks pretty nice!
I'm no thinking where to apply that in my color scheme as well. :D

Re: Tau 8th ed. mathammer tables

One of the reasons I really like the BC XV9 is because it actually works in tandem with Gun Drones since they can take a single support system and still keep all their weapons. 130 points for a BC XV9 with a Drone Controller and four Gun Drones is pretty sweet, me-thinks. I was planning on running ...
