Re: "Dune Raiders" Cadre [WIP] - Updated 9-6-2010

I just want to see Tusken Raider looking Kroot. In terms of weathering I know Forge World has sand weathering dust a variety of suitable colors. If I were you I'd put a little on everything. Sticking to the areas where dust wound accumulate. Look at where cars get dirty in the winter and use the sam...

Re: New Tau Codex Rumors

Not wishlisting, but what I foresee based on this/ in general. The Markerlight is basically what I expected/hoped for. We can guess the "New Alien Ally" will be Demiurg or Tarrelians. Probably the former as "New Squat" models will be bought en masse and modded into Marine count a...

Re: Duredhel's Art - Crisis Suit Banner

Great artwork. I like how diverse you've managed to make the tau look while still being cohesive. They look like an actual species of individuals. All of the 40k stuff is very unified looking while diverse. I assume the squid thing is a nicassar and the stone faced guy is a demiurg? The kroot with t...

Re: Commander Farsight: A possible, partial revival?

I think the most important fact to remember is that his seven samurai are Shas'vres, which means you have the option of kitting them all out with special issue gear. Anyhow, I think the best build is 7 battle suits with twin plasmas, target arrays, and 14 shield drones. It's 900 odd points, you can ...

Re: Store ideas please

Pretty much you have to focus on making money while seeming like you aren't. Not in a misleading way, but if it's all business it's uncomfortable because it feels like a department store with some sales agent who you're sure is some sex offender hanging onto your arm because he's trying to make his ...

Re: [NEW] XV9 by Forgeworld [25.09.09]

Hate the model, like where the rules are going. Its too poorly designed. XV8s are poor as well, but they have a nice asthetic to them if not function. This looks flimsly, clumsy, and awkward. Tau suits should be very "combaty." I'd like to be able to model Shas commanders doing jet powered...

Re: [FAQ] Dear Shas'ar'tol Fluffmeisters #1: The Ta'lissera

The Ta'lissera is in my opinion a catch all term for a series of rituals. The only way you can really put it into human terms is marriage. It is not marriage, that is important to remember. However it is the same level of ceremony. To take the Ta'lissera is to symbolically share souls with another T...

Fear The Alien:

There's a black Library competition apparently. http://www.blacklibrary.com/fear-the-alien/ Pretty much you have to write a 7000 word story about aliens and in return if you win you get published, like 210 bucks and three copies of the material.<-Don't ask why 3. Anyhow, I plan to do it up as a clas...

Re: [Article Submition]Units: Great Knarlock

The T'au don't ferry them down in their ships, that's dangerous. You ever seen how panicked a dog gets in a car? Now imagine a dinosaur in a spaceship. The Kroot just crash a war sphere into the planet (they are after all for all purposes ork ships reverse engineered genetically by the Kroot, and th...

Re: Battlesuit Numbering system; thoughts and application

Maybe numbers equate to letters. It may be a complex code indeed. For example, in 5% slang (an offshoot urban movement of quasi Islam) 7 means Allah because the seventh letter is G for god, according to the teachings god is what is within every man, so therefore a man is a "G". Thus you al...

Re: The Tau "Close Combat Suit" from a fluff perspective.

Its clearly somewhat like a white phosphorous grenade then. Hot enough to burn through metal and bright enough to blind the eye it can also be used in smoke grenades (best for signaling as it rises)do to the pillars of white smoke it creates. Oh and it will burn a person into a blackened husk. Its o...

Re: Pathfinder/Stealth Suit/Promotion fluff questions.

Jeez this is a raw debate. Doom Bringer, you are in the Military, I thought you'd have heard about reinforcements :P That's what I was referring to as one hundred percent plus casualties. Say 1,000 Guardsmen are landed on a planet and after a month are reduced to half strength, then their losses are...

Re: Pathfinder/Stealth Suit/Promotion fluff questions.

Fair points DB. Although unwise IMO. The tau do tend to minimize births for maximum efficiency. However, I think that they would suffer large rates of attrition. The average IG regiment can suffer well over 100% casualties in a deployment. I would think the Tau figures would be dire as well. Technol...

Re: Pathfinder/Stealth Suit/Promotion fluff questions.

Way I see it, the Tau have a low population for a reason. All the fluff shows them to be quite low in numbers (not just as in not many planets worth of people, but their most heavily populated planet is comparable to our most populous countries; China, or India.) The level of technology they have wo...

Re: Tau Explorer Class Starship

Umm Why the heck would you want to build a 1:1 scale aircraft carrier for a board game? The Explorer is one of the largest ships in the Tau fleet. A single hanger aboard those ships would be probably a solid 10-20 feet in miniature scale. It would hold a half dozen mantas and have the superstructure...

Re: The Tau "Close Combat Suit" from a fluff perspective.

Fair points Kiesel, fair points. I could see a space suit used in CC somewhat, but isn't the fusion cutter like a plasma cutter and therefore less a blade and more a gun for point blanking people. They also have tig ol' engines for closing the distance in space. I think the suit should be able to de...

Re: The Tau "Close Combat Suit" from a fluff perspective.

I used to be in favor of a CC suit, but ultimately lets leave the "one bad hombre" with the chainsaw and grenade launcher machine pistol to the humans. No other species would actually do something like that. We humans have the unique trait of being bad ass. The Tau are chilled out. They li...
