Re: Assault Screens - Perhaps not as effective as I thought.

BRB P34 "This means that assaulting models may still not move through friendly or enemy models, may not pass through gaps narrower than their base, and may not move into base contact with enemy models from a unit they are not assaulting." Assault screens still work, just keep your screen u...

Re: [Question] Piranha Base

I have snapped vehicle, drone and XV8 bases, and will no doubt snap more as time goes by. I now use magnets to base the vehicle. I also do the same for drone/XV8 bases that have snapped. It will require some filing on the top of the base to make it straight for the magnet. Anything off straight will...

Re: Updated 40k Rulebook FAQ on GW site

Q: What happens when a vehicle tank shocks a unit that is already falling back? (p68) A: The tank shock will be resolved in the usual manor. Note that passing the Moral check for a tank shock will not cause the unit to regroup it will just prevent them from fleeing again. Oh dear. The proof reader ...

Re: EMP Commandos

I would take EMP commandos when playing against Necrons. Give them a nice spot to teleport the monolith into, then the commandos attack. They tend to be too expensive in any other case.

Re: [Pricing] The value in Kroot Hounds?

For pathfinders I used firewarrior models. I green-stuffed the hole in their back, cut the nose of a pulse rifle off and glued it to the top of their carbine to make the markerlight.

You can make plastic pathfinders.

Re: Dark Eldar Codex Release

I had a look at the codex in store today.
The Dark Eldar are very much a glass cannon like garden variety Eldar. They will hit hard but are very, very brittle. Most of them are armour 5; they need that FNP.

he was doing a cost analysis. If the cost went up and the bonus stacked, what was the cost vs marine scouts? Scouts are still more bang for your buck.

Re: How to survive Drop Pods?

Sternguard (or vanguard, whatever they are called) are a single unit that can make a heroic intervention and assault after dropping in. The dreads can't!

Re: Let's Talk Tactics: Kauyon

I tend to run 2 command squads. The first one on the table is Missile pods and flamers (and a PosRel). Their job is to pop transports, make a pain of themselves and act as a lure. They are faily mobile (6+6 move), have long range fire, and a fairly durable (3 suits, 4 shields and 2 gun drones). Afte...

Re: [Resource] Cosmographer 3 Art Tool

Don't trust the Zhodani and their mind powers. Beware the teleporting commandos. I trust my FGMP-14 to take care of them. I want Tau to have PGMPs and FGMPs! The damn Imperials have them. That aside, it looks very nice but £33 for the software and box (£28 download only) is a tad steep. At £20 I wou...

Re: [Discussion] Environmental costs of our hobby

I'm not buying those bird pictures. The small plastic bits would have passed through the bird, the large bits would have clogged its intestines and would have killed it long before the rest could be digested. What they are saying is the gyre is a serious problem, and I would agree with them. http://...

Re: Fluff or Color?

Cheers Monk! You don't need a steady hand, just time. Its a base colour, then a green/base mix to do big blobs, then the green to do smaller blobs, then a brown/base mix big blobs, then the brown small blobs. Then I had an even darker brown to break contours, and the bleached bone dots. They were a ...

Re: Fluff or Color?

I wanted mine to be soldiers so I went for a camouflage colour scheme. I wanted to paint them multicam, but that was way too diffcult and they came out in a DPM type pattern. for the fish interiors.

Re: [Rules Query] Seekers and other Markerlight "Buffs"

Come one people, its plastic spacemen not the UN Security Council. Its a game that is meant to be fun, playing rules lawyer like this just annoys everyone. The game degenerates into a fight. Everyone knows the way it should be: if a target is painted by a markerlight, you can use the markerlight to ...

Re: Premeasuring & Tau

I prefer the no pre measuring.

If a rapid firing enemy gets close, they have the choice of shooting or taking a chance at the assault. With pre measuring, that interesting little choice disappears.
