the colours were chosen for two simple reasons:

1. the crystalline structures that create the planet falsha are of a light blue hue, the reason is unknown, the earth caste requested samples be brought back, but required the chosen landing site on the northern hemisphere to be designated as clear, hence why the above detachment was deployed.

2. upon closer sattelite analysis, falsha was found to be completly covered in a seemingly harmless gas, which was a dark purple colour, the earth caste also wished for samples of this strange gas to be acquired and brought back for examining.

More information: An Ethereal has been quoted when asked what he thought of the 131st that "They seem to have the perfect mix of invincible and expendible." Under more investigation, it seems every member of the 131st are survivors from Cadres of every sept that were wiped out in battles. O'Iur'Tae'Mont, who has been the original commander since the Cadre's founding, has been recorded to be struck by every type of imperial weapon, and several Tau weapons. When the XV-22 was first created, he begged for a suit and is quoted saying "being shot is not fun." El'M'Kias has been stated as "not a bad leader, just the only Tau in the whole empire who could possibly have worst luck than O'Iur'Tae'Mont." 10 of the Shas'la in the 131st were once led by El'M'Kias, but under multiple Cadres. The Gues'vesa that have worked by the 131st have been recorded saying The 131st has such strange luck, that if they had been born Humans under the Imperium, They'd executed for creating a whole new brand of near criminal incompetence." However no Ethereal ever forced(yes, forced. UNIFORM:
Due to using a forest world as a home world, the majority of the Ya'myr rebel's uniform is dark green or dark purple. As a tribute to the ashen ground the fatigues are light or dark gray, depending on where the force is on the planet.Dark reds or oranges replace purples and dark purples often replace dark greens on battle suits. Placement of orange or red band on the leg armour of the battle suits denotes rank; the higher the band or the more bands means higher rank. Bands on the bottom plates of the armor represent Shas'vre, bands on both lower plates represent Shas'el, and a single band on the second-to-bottom plate presents a Shas'O.

This is an approximate rendering of Shas'la uniforms. Uniforms are generally customized by the wearer to suit their needs. Shas'Ui uniforms can have deep red instead of purple, or simply not have the helmet worn, instead attached to their side.

Designation: Officially known as Farstrike Cadre #0001, although commonly referred to as Otan's Few.

History: Otan's Few is one of the few cadre's deployed permanently in non-tau space, and is for all intents and purposes considered an expendable weapon rather than a functioning cadre. While very little in Tau culture, especially the military arm, is called "expendable", Otan's Few is a most unique and little known "branch" away from typical operating procedures...

Otan's Few was originally formed by a single Farstrike team in the Damocles Crusade, once tasked with eliminating an enemy Warlord titan to allow a retreating trio of cadres escape safely. The team was, to the Aun's surprise, not only successful but managed to survive the whole ordeal with only a handful of injuries. The ethereal in command commended the pilots, and continued to recommend them for further tasks, each more suicidal than the last. As each became more difficult, however, more and more "insane" pilots were committed to the force. Once again, despite all odds, the Farstrike team continued to operate beyond imagination and within a few cycles had swelled above twenty in number, all veteran warriors, despite their advanced battlesuit neurosis.

One pilot, once a famed Force Commander, stepped forward and displayed incredible prowess in both combat and leadership. Known as Shas'O Vior'la Otan Nan, it was well noted that when surrounded with his afflicted brethren, his neurosis became maneagable and allowed him to lead the other pilots. Eventually he became so bold as to demand that they become recognized as a cadre, and very few could argue against his cause.

Though the original members are long dead and nearly forgotten to most, Otan's Few remains. It has, over centuries of use, become a place for other cadres and commanders to place their most extreme cases of neurosis plagued pilots who simply won't die. Each member of the cadre becomes a bonded brother after their first mission, since often blood is the only thing they trust. The Cadre operates out of a single, state-of-the-art Lar'shi cruiser, using advanced warp engines navigated by Niccassar pilots. Wherever the cause is greatest, the risk is highest or the need is most dire, often members of the Otan's Few can be found.

Modifications: As is typical among afflicted battlesuit pilots, most of the power armour seen in the cadre is highly modified and not regulation. Upgrades such as stealth generators, turbo'd thrusters, external secondary power sources and additional armour are just a few of the most typical breaks from standard battlesuits seen in the cadre. Each pilot is, upon deployment to the cadre, tested for a specific type of neurosis and operating style and then placed into a larger pool of pilots, grouped upon what each pilot excells in. As a result, it is easier to deploy the most effective forces immediately, while also allowing pilots suffering similiar issues to form bonds with each other. Though ignored by most channels, it has been noted that after only a few months of this type of "treatment", neurosis begins to fade, if not disappear completely...

Uniform: While there is no set uniform, all pilots paint their right pauldron red to represent their sins committed while in "battle fury" against fellow tau, and paint their left pauldron black to represent the closeness to the Mont'au each one balances upon. In addition, they wear a white painted blade marking on their left chest plate to symbolize the bond of the entire cadre and a single red dot on their right chest plate, the spot where Shas'O Vior'la Otan Nan was fatally punched by the legendary Fists of Maccragge. Other than these symbolic markings, dozens of paint schemes abound within the cadre.

Support: Other than a vast amount of drones and aircraft, Otan's Few operate solely by themselves. A typical strike uses hundreds of drones in several spots around the target to stall the enemy, while the Farstrike Team itself attacks the target with another swarm of drones.

CADRE NOTES: The First's primary commander is Shas'AunO Vadamee B'T'Shi Kosh, a follower of the venerable Aun Vior'la Shi and stringent believer in Aun'Shi's credo that it is better to fight alongside the Fire Caste as an example than to 'lead' from a ship in space. Kosh has raised a few eyebrows over his implementation of a specific trial that his potential battlesuit pilots must go through.

In his own words:

"Too often we are asked to always look forward, ever on our quest for the Greater Good, and it is easy to forget where we came from. The Fire Caste come from ancient tribal hunters of our Homeworld, beautiful T'Au, but we neglect that far too often save for war. The test that all aspiring battlesuit pilots must pass, is to hunt and track down a skydragon, subdue it and retrieve a feather from it's wings and let it go. In this act, we honor the past, but also honor the present and the Future of the Greater Good. I too have gone through this challenge, as I would not ask any person under my command to do anything I myself wouldn't do,"

B'T'Shi Kosh is said to also pilot a battlesuit himself-though this cannot be confirmed or denied. B'T'Shi Kosh has taken to the field in every engagement his Cadre has ever fought, it is of note that the alledged Farsight Acolyte Shas'O R'tas is never seen outside of his Battlesuit, and rarely takes to the field. This is attributed to rising onset of Battlesuit Neurosis, but it has been noted that you never see the Aun and the Shas'O at the same time in the same place.

The defacto commander and self stylized 'Strike Commander' Shas'El T'Rek, is an oddity in that he is no longer effected by Etherals like other Tau. When he was still a Shas'La, he was part of a Cadre tasked with cleansing a Space Hulk and ran afoul of a hoard of genestealers. He was the only survivor of his team, and naturally was removed from the breeding program, his lack of awe being around Etherals was the primary reason he was reassigned to the Commando teams. T'Rek was part of the commando team responsible for rescuing B'T'Shi Kosh from an Eldar pirate raid. T'Rek was equally responsible for the inception of The Hunt as he had taken up hunting with Kroot in his periods of Shore Leave for relaxation. On not seeing Kosh and R'Tas together, T'Rek shrugs and brushes it off.

The Cadre finds itself in urban sprawls, and ship boarding actions more often than not. They are not afraid to try new tactics, and are quite happy with allies. Like most cadres they can adapt to many different needs. The missions deemed most 'sensitive' to the Empire are given to Shas'O R'Tas, who leads limited groups of foot-mobile Firewarriors and high levels of suit pilots all bonded and trained to fight in heavy combat. Most other missions fall to Shas'El T'rek, who heavily relies upon his friendship with the Master Shaper Chew-Like-Suede and heavy guns. Occasionally, Shas'O R'Tas will join the fray in his XV22 battlesuit (if he was so heretical, why would the Auns give him access to a XV22 'Shade' Class battlesuit?).

B'T'Shi Kosh can always be found where the fighting is at its thickest, and though wounded several times, he continues an ongoing feud with the Lone Wolf of the Space Wolves the First come up against, neither of them able to deliver the killing blow.

MISSION STATUS: [UPDATED DATA ENTRY] The last trace of the Cadre was on an ice world near Bork'an. A short message was received by the Tau of the Bork'an Sept asking for help. Scout teams were sent to the ice world but found nothing. Consequently, the Cadre is believed to have been destroyed by elements of the Imperium's Imperial Guard.

BACKGROUND: The 101st Arctic Warfare Cadre was founded on T'au with the intention of providing the Tau with a rapid response force for any Death World or Ice World which the Tau had interest in. The Cadre quickly found itself gaining infamy for its actions against Imperial rebels across the Damocles Gulf. It has been credited for the utter destruction of an Imperial underground tank factory which had been captured by Imperial renegades, thus causing the destruction of hundreds of Leman Russ battle tanks. The Cadre also claims responsibility for the destruction of a Baneblade Super Heavy tank in the same action, but Ethereals sent from Bork'an recorded no such evidence of any Baneblade being destroyed. The Cadre had now demonstrated its ability to the Tau who recognised and valued its ongoing committment to the Greater Good. It was sent back to the Ice Worlds near Bork'an in order to eliminate the last stragglers of the Imperial rebels who had been threatening Tau expansion. However, when the Cadre met deserters from an unknown Imperial Guard regiment equipped with artillery, tanks and storm troopers, they were ordered to immediately depart the world. The Cadre's Commander --CORRUPT DATA-- refused and committed his Cadre to a desperate stand against the Imperials. The last known whereabouts of the Cadre were on this Ice World following a short transmission by one of their Shas'ui to Bork'an. No trace of them has ever been found and the Cadre is believed to have been destroyed in fighting against the Imperials. Due to their failure to follow the direct orders of Ethereals, the Cadre was deemed as outlaws and is no longer considered a part of the Greater Good cause.

[UPDATED DATA ENTRY] The 101st AWC has reportedly been sighted by a Gue'vesa unit on [DATA ENTRY DELETED]. They are believed to have altered their standard uniform and appear to exhibit signs of --CORRUPT DATA--. The Gue'vesa unit in question was able to make a quick report before they too were lost. Any further contact or communication with either unit on either planet is to be completely halted pending further investigation. It is now [DATA ENTRY DELETED] beyond our control.
