Did somebody notice that the Tau Update on Forgeworld download page isn't there anymore? As with most of the other downloadable updates they made. I can't even find the Storm Eagle experimental rules anymore. :S

Probably it has something to do with the new edition and the full load of pdf FAQ being rewritten.

On another topic, I found the "Forward Observer" rule for the Tetra, Taros Campaign. It basically says that Tetras can and always have to deploy on the table, even in Dawn of War deployment.

Well, crap! I've been putting off downloading the update until I actually bought Forgeworld stuff.

Hopefully this means that another Tau relate IA book is coming out, or they are revising everything for 6th edition.

Never fear:

The link may be gone, but the file hosting lives on!

The vehicles and drone turrets have been updated in another file on the Forgeworld website.

Everything else is this ok, mostly.

It would be nice if they would update points costs to reflect gear that no longer exists...

True, but then you can explain that point to your opponent, and they might be more likely to let you play with FW models, if that is an issue.

Thankfully, it's not an issue. And if I have an opponent whose model has equipment that no longer works, like our XV-84, then I'd be happy with letting him take the points cost off...

I would also allow that as well.

Unrelated my comment above, I have two questions about the Drone Sentry Turrents:
1) Is the shield generator worth it with them being considered Artillery?
2) Which weapon profile do they use the basic profile based on the Tau codex, or the ones from the Hammerhead entry listed above?

On the second question, I feel that they *should* use the basic profiles, what are the thoughts of the community?

By now, there are an awful lot of Forge World books, FAQs and other updates, so I'm asking this because I genuinely don't know: Where does it say that Drone Sentry Turrets are artillery?

Since Drone Sentry Turrets are Forge World Models, I would expect the to follow the FW rules in the Tau Update they released a while ago and which is not currently listed on the FW site or IA:3.

In the 6th ed vehicle update. Full discussion of this can be found in the Drone Sentry thread.

Ok, so even that unlinked from FW website link provided byKiblam is dead. I sent few emails, but I didn;t get any answers. Maybe I have some Xenos connection error, so can someone else email them, or in other way get some official statement what now? Please.

It was great update, unfortunately as it is no longer accessible. How come there is even no info as to what rules should we be using.

PS No idea where, but possibly here on ATT I've heard Forge World will make Taros Campaign Second Edition ro something like that, with updated rules. Any info on that?

I have emailed the FW address a number of times and never received a reply.

They have provably little interest in xenos in general and have stated on their Facebook page a few times now that they have no interest at all in Tau and have no plans for doing anything with Tau other than what is already there.

PM me your email address and I can send you the Tau Update...

If Anyone has downloaded the update, can they e-mail it to me? PM me for address. I bought a number of the units that were previously terrible and made useable by the update, and I cannot play them without having any rules to show my opponents.

Thanks, that's very helpful.

What does this mean for the validity of the update though. We have an update which has been pulled from the Forgeworld website, doesn't that invalidate it (at least in the eyes of our potential opponents) ?

Has anyone had any issues using the rules from the rules update ? and what do we think on the legitimacy of using a rules update which as been pulled ?

I was going to ask for a couple of tetras for xmas, now I'm not so sure :(

I use them, and no-one I've played with has any issue with it. They know only too well that hate Forge World has for the Greater Good, and most are happy to play against something other than Speeehs Mahreeens...

Same with the Remote Sensor Tower that is currently, technically, a vehicle with no hull points -_-

Sooooo, if you're playing in gaming clubs, just explain it to your opponent and/or mention it on the club forums. I would expect most players to be reasonable about it. And any tournament that allows Forge World should be able to make a decision on whether they models can be used with the updated rules or the rules from the books.

I wouldn't worry about Tetras, they are still listed with all the other unit stats in the 6th Edition Vehicle Update. The only thing completely lacking rules without the update is the Sensor Tower.

FW has treated the Tau much better than regular GW. GW hasn't really touched the Tau in over a decade. The 4th edition codex (if you can even call it that) slightly adjusted a few point values, brought the Sky Ray and Piranha over from Forge World and added Vespid and Sniper Drones. That means that every new unit the Tau have gotten since their initial release aside from Vespid and Sniper Drones have come from Forge World. Then FW has actually bothered to update their older rules with FAQs unlike GW. If we take the time to look at the decent units available to your Tau army, about 40% of them come from Forge World.

Tau may not get as many updates as space marines or IG from FW but then again the Tau lack the player base of those armies as well.

Also, the more you derogatorily call them "Speeehs Mahreeens" the more the Tau are called fish people. What good does it do to mock someone's choice of army?
