Real first name:
-Matt

Age and gender:
-20/male

Location:
-Westminster, Maryland

Occupation:
-Student

How did you get into wargaming?
-One of my friends decided that if he convinced out little group of buddies to start all together it would help lower the costs of starting. It worked. We have every army represented except for Daemon Hunters and Witch Hunters

How did you get into Tau?
-They just matched my style completely. Diverse, all-around (except for CC ; D) and not EVIL : D
Also I really liked the idea of being able to play more than one race together (i.e. Kroot, Vespid, Gue'Vesa, etc.)

What would be your second piece of advice (after "read the freakin' rules") to a new Tau player?
-Do not be afraid to run. I honestly have more fun with the anticipation of a chase scenario than most people do in an entire assault phase.

What is your Tau colour scheme?
-Dark Angels Green (with a light base to make it a little lighter) and Scorpion Green are the main colors, with white as a universal secondary color, and a specific highlight color for each different kind of unit. It is supposed to be representative of a force stationed/headquartered on Pech, so I tried to mix the colors up to keep it feeling very "Jungle", without feeling "military camo". I'm not a big fan of camo.

How did you find this site/the old site, and how long have you been a member?
-Searching google for tau tactica. There didn't seem to be a tremendous amount of video support for tau players across youtube so I figured I'd look elsewhere. Little did I know... : D

What are the origins of your ATT username?
-I tried to think of a Tau commander name, and I fell in love with FireTrident. I like the way it sounds, and I am a huge fan of missile pods, and I felt that the trident fit in with the water-life theme of the tau, without actually naming him after a sea-creature (because he's not a vehicle! : D)

Have you reviewed the ATT Primers?
-Yes, I read through fine print like it's my job! ; D

Where and how often to you usually play?
-Wednesday nights are my groups usual Warhammer Night, and we play in our friends large half-exposed basement. I try to get at least one game in a week, but sometimes I get lucky and get two or three.

Do you have any other armies, for 40K or another system?
-Nope. I am pretty focused and obsessed with the tau. Eventually (after they update their codex), I could see myself starting a Daemon Hunters army. I'm not so big on the whole Imperium thing, but I am big on the whole Anti-Daemons thing : D

What is your favourite and least favourite army to play against?
-Honestly, I just like playing period. I will play against any army, at any time, and with any list. I like the idea of having a set list for myself and using it against an army specifically designed to kill tau. One thing that you will find out about me is that I am not afraid of losing. I just wan to play!

What is your best and worst 40K moment?
-So far, I really don't have that much experience to draw on, as I am just starting out. But if I had to choose I would say my worst moment was when I lost a combat by one wound and my entire mega-kroot unit was destroyed by sweeping advance. 35 models destroyed by one roll-off. And as for my best, I would have to say having my friend deepstrike his Monolith right on top of my Ethereal Honor Guard, shrugging off the shots from his Flux Arc, and then hitting him with the 12 EMP grenades that I equipped the honor guard with. I happen to love grenades, and the thought of my fire warriors storming a monolith was just EPIC. I didn't manage to bring it down, but it was severely damaged, and went down the following turn. SO MUCH FUN!

What does/do your family/significant other/friends think about your 'funny toys'?
My friends and family already know I'm a nerd, so this did not come as a surprise at all. My girlfriend actually really likes Warhammer, and is all about Chaos Daemons and Tomb Kings.

What are some of you other interests?
Bicycles, art, documentaries, archery, and other various nerdy endeavors (RPGs, Video Games, etc.)

Do you have any pets?
No, I was never really big on pets. I feel like a baby is about as close as I'll ever get ; D

What is your favourite band?
The Black Keys

Welcome to ATT, FireTrident. I'm surprised no one else has replied to your profile, but don't let it discourage you. After hearing your description of your models, I'm more than a bit intruiged as to how they look on the tabletop.

Incidentally, my wife is from Maryland, and we'll be stopping by sometime next summer to visit her family/friends while enroute to my next duty station. We should try to get a game in while we're over there, possibly at the Battle Bunker in Baltimore.

I have to agree with your idea of demonhunters, I'm in the process of making them my second army because they are an army that is not commonly seen and have an awesome back story. Also personally I can see them allying with Tau quite easily as Tau cannot easily become possesed so when faced with a demonic threat they would no doubt accept Tau assistance.

Random Fact: I pretend that I am a Tetra pilot when I drive my car. Especially, when there is a lot rapid turning involved.

... you would be surprised how much imaginary damage a twin-linked pulse rifle can do to an SUV that cuts you off...
