Age and gender: 22; Male

Occupation: College Student

How did you get into wargaming?
It all started because a buddy of mine suggested I go participate in a Squad Leader demo that some guy was doing at our local game store. I was heavily invested in Magic: The Gathering at the time, but decided to go check it out. Aside from the simplistic cardboard pieces (a far cry from 3D models, let me tell you) I had a pretty enjoyable time with Squad Leader and turned out to be a relatively astute tank commander. After starting out behind and utterly surrounded by anti-tank artillery, I stormed his lines and was quickly turning things around in my favor before we had to leave for the day.

I told my buddy (the friend who suggested I go to the SL demo, but didn't go himself) about how much fun I had, and we toyed around with the squad leader game I'd gotten as a prize for good sportsmanship. Sadly though, we felt something was...lacking. My friend went home that night, did a little research on Warhammer, and came back to me with a proposition: exchange our cardboard-card crack for the plastic variety.

I haven't looked back since.

How did you get into Tau?
I thought the Fire Warriors looked cool.

No, I'm not kidding.

No detailed research, no skimming the internet for a "Best Army", no playing the numbers. I liked the look of the Tau basic infantry and pretty much fell in love on the spot. My buddy picked Eldar, for those who are curious.

What would be your second piece of advice (after "read the freakin' rules") to a new Tau player?
Crisis suits. Buy a lot of them. Yes, there are other good units in the army as well, but don't screw around with your money too much until you've filled all three elite slots with a unit of three Crisis Battlesuits. They are amazing. Use them.

What is your Tau colour scheme?
Primary Color - Dwarven Bronze
Secondary Color - Black

How did you find this site/the old site, and how long have you been a member?
I found this place through the mighty power of a Google search for "Tau Tacitics".

What are the origins of your ATT username?
I picked a random word and put an apostrophe in the middle. Sorry, nothing special there.

Have you reviewed the ATT Member Primers?
Naturally. It's why I'm here, after all.

Where and how often do you usually play?
Either Gigabytes Cafe or Raven's Nest, usually on the weekends, sometimes Fridays.

Do you have any other armies, for 40K or another system?
Nope. Tau is my first and only army for any Warhammer Game.

What is your favourite and least favourite army to play against?
I've only played against Eldar (2 Objective-Based games which I lost), Dark Eldar (1 Objective game which I won), and Grey Knights (2 Games, both Annihilation, which I won while teamed up with my Eldar buddy.)

Dark Eldar, so far, has been my best match.

Grey Knights are probably the hardest, though their vehicles do blow up to my missiles pretty easily.

What is your best and worst 40K moment?

Best Moment - Blowing up a Stormraven the turn after it deep-strikes right behind my battlesuits, then brutally murdering all of the troops with flamers, plasma, and a few AP1 Sniper shots from my friend's Eldar Rangers.

Worst Moment - Not being able to kill the Dreadknight that -also- deepstriked right behind right behind my battlesuits until turn 7.

Welcome to ATT An'vil! I'm quite interested by your army colour scheme. You don't see as many metallic armies in Tau. I guess your guys aren't meant to be big on camouflage? Will you be posting pictures?
And don't worry, a lot of people get into tau primarily for their looks. It's one of their strong points.
