How did you get into wargaming? I got into wargaming after walking into a local GW store at age 12, much to my surprise I found the place filled with amazing looking miniatures and was immediately hooked. Instead of coming home with the video game I set out to get in the first place, I returned with a regiment of High Elf spear men and a painting set. After a couple of years of playing fantasy (High Elves & Chaos) I "gave up" the hobby when I moved out of my parent's house and into a dorm room. A few months ago I stepped back into the same GW store and was overcome with the same feeling I had when I was twelve. So here I am, hooked once again.
How did you get into Tau? When I made my return to the hobby I decided I would give 40k a try as I had never played the game before. At the time the Tau Empire was quite underrepresented in the store; they had a few boxes on the very end of a shelve that was otherwise completely filled with Guardsmen. Apparently the manager at that time had his Guardsmen wiped of the table in a local tournament by the Tau Empire, after which the Tau player in question (I never learned his name) had proceeded to do the same in 3 more rematches. Leaving the manager in question with an irrational (but at often times amusing) hatred for everything Tau, he even offered me a free codex if would buy an IG battalion instead of a Tau one. It was however much to late for that as I had already decided to join 'The Greater Good'.
What would be your second piece of advice (after "read the freakin' rules") to a new Tau player? It's better to lose with an army you love then to win with an army you loathe.
What is your Tau colour scheme? My colour scheme is Black/Grey/Yellow, and was heavily inspired by the Ke'lshan Firewarrior in the Codex.
How did you find this site/the old site, and how long have you been a member? I came across this site after searching the Internet for "Tau Tactics". I've been a member for a little over a week, however I did not get the time to post as I'm currently very busy with school.
What are the origins of your ATT username? I currently live in "Nootdorp" which can be roughly translated into Nutvillage, but felt that NutTownTau sounded better than NutvillageTau so I went with that.
Have you reviewed the ATT Member Primers? Yes, they where not half as intimidating as I originally expected.
Where and how often do you usually play? Due to my current schedule I don't play that often. In addition I'm still in the progress of painting my steadily expanding Cadre, and loathe playing with unpainted miniatures.
Do you have any other armies, for 40K or another system? Not anymore
What is your favourite and least favourite army to play against? I've always enjoyed playing against Lizardmen, sadly you don't see a whole lot of those in the grim nightmarish future that is 40k. In my limited experience I've only played against Orks and Tyranids. Out of the two I would say I prefer they Tyranids over the Orks, but with two games of 40k under my belt it is hard to tell.
What is your best and worst 40K moment? Best: blasting a squad of 20 Tyranids off the table with my firewarriors in a single round of shooting Worst: getting swarmed by two Ork armies that where avoiding my teammate's Space Marines in a 2v2 match
What does/do your family/significant other/friends think about your 'funny toys'? My Mom loves I'm getting back in touch with my creative side, my Dad believes the money is better spent on socks, I have yet to find my significant other, Most of my friends say: "Dude...", and I'm slowly building up my network of "40K-friends" so I have some enjoyable opposition.
What are some of you other interests? I'm currently in the final semester of my studies which takes a lot of my time. During the little time I have that isn't claimed by the University; I enjoy running, reading, cooking, hiking, and hanging out with my friends.
Do you have any pets? No, but I have a housemate/best friend that might qualify for that category.
What is your favourite band? Most difficult question so far... I enjoy a wide range of musical genres ranging from classic-metal to country which I listen to depending on my mood. At the moment I would have to go with "The Zac Brown Band" which has a country/southern rock kind of vibe, that I'm really enjoying.
Well that's the last of the questions, thanks for taking the time to read this all, and I'm sure I'll see you around the forum.
