I am getting ready to update my Tau for the first time since 2008. Partly this is for the new codex, but I'm also probably going to take them to Adepticon this year.

I only own two broadsides, and have decided to get at least four more. I don't like the look of the standard ones, and don't like the cost of the forgeworld ones, so I am going to heavily convert my own.

I'll be making heads and shoulderpads for the armor, but I like the Paulson Games weapons here:

http://www.paulsongames.com/mecha_parts___54mm.html

The large ones appear to work for the shoulder mounted railguns, so that's ok. However there are two other types, one that fits under the arm, and the other that seems to be held, or perhaps mounted on the sides of the arms like the XV88. Is this how the others are mounted? Have any of you purchased the bits to make these before? What do you think looks the best?

Any thoughts on this are appreciated. Once I make the purchases I will be posting all of the pictures of the army as I update them for the new codex here.

You can see some images of the medium railguns in use here. My understanding is the underarm style is also of the medium configuration.

I am hoping the underarm style missile launchers come in soon. I'm holding my order until then.

I have purchased some of them myself and wrote up a little article on them.

I hope it helps!

The under slung missile launcher model is done and just waiting on printing, along with a couple new parts. Provide everything comes out ok and molds properly I'm hoping to have them available at the beginning on January.

The underslung railguns are aproximately the same length as the medium guns. I could make a long underslung version but I'm not sure if there's any serious demand for it. I'm always open to suggestions though.

Here was some extra stuff I was messing around with for an energy weapon design. It's still in the rough stages so if you have suggestions I can easily modify things.

Length is currently the same as my medium railgun part.

Also started tinkering with an upper arm section inspired in part by the shoulders of the battletech hatamoto-chi.
The shoulder socket should fit on most bandai gundam-esque poly joints

To be honest, the new energy weapon looks more Railgun to me than your previous Railgun. Might be best to switch them up with the older weapon design becoming some sort of high powered energy weapon possibly firing some sort of plasma or some other energy capable of melting the target. :-)

Either way I like them both.

Fully integrated arms look interesting as well. That Battletech/Robotech sling-the-gun-off-the-arm-and-who-needs-hands approach.

Have you ever thought of large gunpods (ie oversized rifle style weapons) for 54mm models? Of course you may need to make hands and or full arms to hold it.

I couldn't find the pic of the printed part, but I do have some rifles already done that'd be in that size. I haven't cast them yet as I'm still working on some hands to go with them, they do fit in the 1/200 scale gundam models hands nicely but they are considerably bulkier than most gundam weapons. I'd printed it in two scales, one for infantry and a larger size for mechs. There's also a shorter bull pup styled one, both came out pretty well but i think I want to make corrections to the grips as they are overly boxy and slightly too wide.

Molding the infantry sized ones turned into a huge disaster that ruined the molds and I ended up breaking all of the rifles as they basically super glued themselves to the silicone. I need to make some changes and reprint them again at some point.

Here's the scale vs the other mecha weapons, it's towards the bottom next to the medium guns.

I love your stuff, love it.

I am painting fire warriors and kroot at the moment, but I'll be ordering some stuff at the close of the month. I like the launchers as well, I may just wait and get them all in one group.

I love the actual rifle look, they are wonderful, great for crisis suits. Be nice to have some head swaps as well.

What about some futuristic looking weapons for 28 mm models in the future?

I assume then that you think I could use the large guns for the shoulder mounted ones, or I coulse use the others for arm mounted if I wanted. It just depends on if I want shoulder mounted or arm mounted then.
