Alrighty, so I am having one hell of a night trying to get these images up

I wanted to get this stuff up on CMON this evening, but my god, their upload system is the bane of my existence!!!!

I've got the end result of my scratchbuilt suit for you guys finally, as well as a Kroot Inquisitor and a converted Fire Warrior.

I've designated the suit as an XV-77, thought it sounded good haha. I ended up getting fairly lazy during painting this guy, but it came out not too bad in the end.
Excessive weathering made things go a lot faster.

I'm still learning the whole "mini-photography" thing, so I hope I have improved! Let me know.

and...... here we go!

I tried to give you guys lots of angles to get an idea of the construction.
Hope you guys like it! I am willing to let go of it if someone likes it enough, its up for discussion at least, hehe.

Here is the Fire Warrior

The Kroot Inquisitor

an Ethereal I did, didn't turn out as I wanted it to, but figured I'd throw it up anyways.

Also, I did promise I would give an end result pic of my mounted Kroot Shaper, from my WIP thread.

There ye's be! Spray some comments all over this, as I love to hear what you all think.

I love the shaper with the lance. I really have a strong desire for kroot cavalry now.

Although, for the XV77, tau don't use loose cables very often.

I really like the heavy armour you put on the Etherial's legs and back. It really gives him a heroic look.
It makes sense too. I never really got why VIPs like Etherials are wading into battle wearing nothing but their best dress robes.

I'm also a big fan of the way you did the helmet on that fire warrior.

This was LAZY painting!!!??? E-Gads... that means my army is, well, I can't think of a better term then Uber-Lazy!

The suit looks fantastic, painting and all, and I agree with Patiolantern, the firewarrior helm looks very nice... almost translucent with the impression of a HUD on the inside.

You've done it again mall3us! The Kroot Inquisitor is an enjoyable and novel concept, and very well executed. I think I will take some inspiration from this for my Xenos Inquisitor's power armour - I wanted something non-standard and Radical, and you hit that target.

With that out of the way, I love that suit. It took me a couple of minutes of admiring the pictures before I realised how huge it is though! Would I be correct in assuming that there was some inspiration taken from the District 9 battlesuits?

Mall3us your work here is amazing each model is an inspiration. Your use of brush and paint is exellent. I have always enjoyed seeing the product of those that can push the envelope of converting.

Thanks a lot guys!

I really want to do an entire Tau army at some point, they've always been my favorite, but as I don't play the game these days, it would be hard to justify.
However, I definitely plan to do more battlesuits, I've got a fairly solid concept in form, for a Tau Commander I would like to do. Hopefully I can start him in the near future, need to buy the parts!

Sorry, you are not correct, hehe. I was mostly inspired to just build something 'big' , from Phil Dunn's giant Titan suit. I had begun with the idea of modelling a suit mainly after a firewarrior, so it all kind of centered around the helmet element.

I totally agree, but I was going for a kind of slapped together by a master tau engineer in the midst of war feeling. Which is mainly because I was slapping it together myself, from what I had, haha.

mall3us, Great job!

I agree that the FW helmet is very well done, and really displays a unique idea and execution.

The suit itself definitely fits the description you've given it in your last reply, and you've done an excellent job of bringing it to life. The colour scheme you've chosen is entirely appropriate. I inferred "be good, or we'll blow a hole through you" attitude from it, like a silent menace you wouldn't dare cross.

The other models are equally mind blowing, just when I thought we were running out of ideas you blast in with a handful of solid conversions. Way to go!

Cheers,

modelglue

Great as normal Mall3us :D And If you do not mind I am stealing your Fire Warrior Helm idea to a extent for my sometimes Pathfinders.

haha, steal away

I actually snipped it off of a friend that use to do something similar. He would just carve the regular lenses off, so it was a smooth curvy helmet. I simply added a nice shaped glass like mask cover to his idea.

Oh wow  , that mega suit looks amazing now! At first I wasnt a fan but now...now this is something amazing. I love the paint scheme, it looks like a predatory black ops force. And your ethereal and kroot armors are very innovative indeed, particularly the ethereal, for once he looks like he could take a hit, and be a CC monster, sadly his rules don't portay that :( . Lovely stuff!

The suit is great! I love to see people going for the "grim darkness" look. I think you should give the Ethereal a do over, it's a great idea.

Hello mall3us,

That suit just blows me away men! I love to see new more dynamic designs for the battlesuits of the tau empire.
When I saw the fire warrior I just could'nt believe it was tau. this guy looks so god damn mean and ready to kill! do you have a full squat of these? and then, to make it even better, the etherial. my god that thing looks so great! I love the fact it has power armour on the legs and a naked chest. I wonder what's on the back of this thing! The shaper just got me knocked back in my seat for about 5 minutes! wow!

Cheers, Daan
