Ok I finished these in January/February and I've only just got round to taking some snaps of them. I hope you enjoy.

Hmmm....not bad! (says he with tongue in cheek). No, I really like these, Gareth. How do you get such a smooth finish on the green areas? Those Hounds can be rough.

E.

PS: I like the Kroot with the frisbee!

Firstly I agree, they're not bad. You can't compare these to shadowsun for instance as these are fast turnaround gaming minis. No frills, just good clean tidy painting.

In answer to your question, I used an airbrush to basecoat them all catchan green, then i manually shaded the creases with watered down scorched brown, before finishing off with a few layers of catchan and rotting flesh highlights. Nice and subtle to match the rest of the subtle style.

Its so subtle and in the right places, I feel it doesn't look like its been highlighted, and just looks like natural light. To me that mission accomplished. :D

Thanks for that, mate. Any info is always welcome.

Nice stuff Gareth, I have to pull my perfectionist horns in if I ever want to complete a full army, so busy turning each one into something special, I'm having to pull out all the stops for a character to be noticed.

I've always admired your strong, 'simple' scheme. Particularly effective on your armored units.

I know all about cameras blending highlights. My models are noticeably highlighted in person, but through a lens, they seem plan and just well coloured. So I share your bemusement on that note. :nice:

As always, nice work and cool light source touches. :)

~ Tael.

Could be the Tau equivalent of the Discus.

ooh, these are much better pics, good work Gareth! These are great for your so-called wargame standard

You know, the bases stand out very well for me in these new pcis, particular on the stealth team.

I think I will follow suit and base my upcoming stealths on 40mm's too!

Now the tanks with the cool lighting effects, do it, do it!

All of a sudden, I just had this image of a Kroot throwing a shield generator as a frisbee for a Kroot hound. I'm thinking this has diorama potential.

Oh, and nice job on the paintscheme. I'm a big fan of the simple but bold color combos.

Shield Gen Discus? I'm thinking Tau'lympics here, people :D

Or it could be *shudder* Like the bubble shield from a certain 360 game, plant it in the ground and it activates?

Wargames, you have encountered Kai's style of tact because of simply lacking a common sense of politeness in your request.

Please treat Gareth's time and effort with some respect. It is a measure of his character in my eyes, that he has taken time to answer your curt request.

Please keep this in mind with regard future postings.

~ Tael.

Sorry guys, I think wargamesatmtd was alright. Didn't offend me in the slightest. Poor guy was only asking a question.

I think pulling him up on it publicly has a bigger negative effect on the forum then his short sharp question (and then correction). Kai'lore was wrong to give the brown answer, as its not helpful and a blatant attack.

Tael, whilst you're request is polite and courteous in asking wargamesatmtd to be more polite, but its going to annoy the poor chap. Public humiliation has a habit of doing that.

Poor show guys.

Fair comment Gareth, I respect that.

I prefer common courtesy, I will however, mention when it is lacking.

Note to new readers : Removed the aforementioned exchange (of no consequential value), but my comment remains.

Right.. back to admiring miniatures.

~ Tael. :nice:

he he, yes, it maybe wasn't the most informative of responses but man I laughed so much. Out loud too. A good, healthy chuckle at my own expense of stupidity.

You guys have deleted it, which makes it look even worse though. All I said was "They are brown." :crafty: C'mon, guy can't make a joke these days? I wouldn't expect wargamesatmtd to be that upset?

I think Gareth is also fibbing over which brown he used, that looks much more like the VGC Earth Brown. How say you Sir Gareth?

They certainly look good and particular like the combination of both black and the ivory white along with the brown.

Not that I want to tell you how to do your job, but I think a private message would be best.

P.S. You do a grand job. You're polite and friendly. Top bloke.
