Pretty much done, just need to neaten up some edges and clean up the front vents. Also gave me a chance to try out my new camera in macro (apologies for the poor artificial lighting)

On an personal level, I don't really like the colour scheme. That said however, the painting is all really good. Maybe a bit more grinding to even out the engine intakes? Oh and bore out/colour the fusion blaster barrels. Nice weathering effects too, I like how you kept it subtle. :)

Good stuff otherwise though.

Right, I've done some work on the Intakes, finished up the Fusion blaster apart from drilling, and added some Cadre markings.

nice weathering! ( I love weathering!) And I like the subtle colour scheme, very military drab without being boring at all. I'd love to see more of your army photographed together.

@Gniknok: Well, If I was to show you any, all you'd see would be a mixture of all my old colour schemes ;)

@SS: Thanks, I just used the plain old style of lens painting, found in the Academy articles.

Sounds like your army is in the same state as mine. I've gone through about 4 collecting and painting phases and I switch up my scheme a little each time... one day I'll get around to all those touch up jobs to bring it in line, but first I have to finish converting my Stealths Suits/building a power plant/modelling objective markers/assembling my Dire Avengers... the fun never ends!

Nice job, Fraggle! I love the color scheme - very similar to my own. In fact, just what colors did you use?

Erm *tremble*...

Green: Catachan Green, highlighted with 1:1 CG+Kommando Khaki
Black: Chaos Black, Highlighted with 2:1:1 Chas Black, Kommando Khaki, and Skull White
Metal: Chas Black base, then Boltgun Metal overbrushed as chips, then a 'drywash' (halfway between painting and a wash) of Vermin brown for rust.
Lenses: Chaos Black, Regal Blue, 1:1 Ice Blue + Regal Blue mix, pure IB, 1:1 Ice Blue + Skull white Mix, Skull White highlight.

Whew, how I remembered that I'll never know...

Cough* Oh my, by the ethereal's name your piranha is good. Wow, I'm really speechless. Anyway, how many of those have you got? Mind posting them up as a team when their done? I would really love to see a squad of nicely painted piranha together.

And you do not paint for others right? :roll:

@Catpeeler: Thanks!

@Russ: Thanks also. Sadly, it's the only one I've got, as I run one in an anti-tank role. However, you can expect a small team of Fire Warriors from me in the near future, along with a light-up Hammerhead, and a tiger stripe Devilfish.... :)

If, by paint for others, you mean Commission type work, then I used to, but not so much now, what wwith doing my A Levels :roll:

Hey Fraggle! Nice job on that Piranha!

I really dig the weathering effects you've achieved. In my opinion, since your color scheme is kind of drab, I would really push the orange-ish / reddish brown you have going on near the nose and engine parts. That might give it that extra dimension to really make it come to life. I would also try to avoid mixing that orange with metallic paints on some of the engines, I think that they should be separate elements. That being said, I think you could use some sporadic metal "tinks" in the wings and a couple more near the nose as well. I know it sounds like I'm nit-picking, but I really like this model! I think it looks great, keep it up! ;)

Thanks a lot Jord, I'm glad you like it. The reason i didn't go too Over the top with the weathering was mainly because I wasn't sure on the affect I wanted to achieve, but now I know what I'm after, I think I might just add some more. I've also cleaned up a lot of the highlighting to make it more uniform and fine.

Next up, either the base, or a squad of Fire Warriors.

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but it is very boring to look at. There is no contrast at all. Just variations of brown.

While it may lack intense detail, that's kind of the point in camouflage ;)

I was considering trying to do a digital camo efect, but thought better of it.

I don't mean it lacks detail, I mean it needs something to break up all that tan. Perhaps some white transfers? It doesn't need to be huge.

Well, as it happens ( :crafty: ) I've been adding some Details onto it in the Sept colour, white. I know it goes against Tau tradition, but I'm adding some kill markings and maybe some callsigns onto the hull., along with some more weathering.

Also, just for the record, it's green ;)

Khaki green? it's a compromise :P

Right, done some more markings and some weathering, let me know what you think guys.

Just for clarification;
Names: Flame and Winged (Suam and Eldi)
Kill Markings: Two tanks, one Defiler.

Also changed the title of the thread, as I'm going to use this topic to post Pictures of the rest of my Cadre. as a start, here is the first Fire Warrior from my new scheme, to give an insight as to what the army will look like.

Image

Also, this is a picture of the Tigrstripe Devilfish I mentioned earlier; I need to redefine and clean up the stripes, and re-do the lenses, before adding the weathering.

Image

Finally, this is a sneak peek of a little something I've been working on over the past few weeks.
