I don't have much to show at the moment, but what I do have, I'll show. Sorry if the pictures are super fuzzy or something- I'm still working on photography...

Looking sharp, are you keeping the white areas white on the hammerhead?

Nice logo as well.

Yeah, the white will be staying white. It goes along with my troops, which have white armor and regal blue cloth. I think it looks pretty cool, but that's just me.

There are going to be sections of a lighter blue in places along the Hammerhead as well, and then I have to highlight everything and finish the drones and weaponry...

Basically, lots of work to do still. Plus I want to build a scenic base for it out of a CD, but I need to go shopping for materials sometime (corkboard, plaster of paris, things of that nature).

What are the FWs gonna look like? Because the 25 and the fish have completely different schemes (white and blue, black and red?), nice tank by the way.

EDIT: sorry I read the posts too fast, should've been more careful  .

The Fire Warriors are going to be white and regal blue, like I just said, and the XV-25 looks weird to me, so I was planning on redoing it so that the sections which are now red will be a superdark blue, in the style of this tutorial, with modifications. http://www.brokenblade.co.uk/tutorials/art/8/

Hopefully with a little luck/practice, I can make the suits look sort of shimmery, like how light looks underwater. I'd like that a load~ :P

Yeah that scheme would suit the army well. If you painted those strange blue-lightning things like here:
http://uk.games-workshop.com/download/popup.htm?/tau/huntercadre/images/stealth-battlesuits-large.jpg
where the black meets the camo, over that blue armour, you could get a good "underwater" effect.

Thanks for that link, matey, because that gave me a new idea. I was going to try and switch the stealth suits over to the space wolves gray, so if I combined that color with the superdark blue and the vanishing lines... I think it'd look beautiful.

Wish me luck!

No problem, I always try to help out with anything stealthsuit related. I'm a tad obsessed really, I already have 12 and I still want more. Good luck with your scheme :)

I can completely understand that. They look so cool! They're definitely one of my favorite units.

Do you have any pictures of your suits that I could see? I like seeing what other people do with their creations.

This may seem like a necro, and I suppose it is... but oh well! I finally got access to a good SLR and a tripod today, so I can show you some of my troops. The entire army is still WIP, since I'm a bit ADD when it comes to painting, but I'm really really happy with how they're turning out. First, my favorite units. Stealthsuits!

The old best, first:

And a group shot of the new guys:

Closeups of the two better ones... I'll be doing their lenses sometime soon, probably after or during my wraithlord project.

And some of the only built crisis suit. He's all alone, but I'm building him a friend!
Image

Image

Image

And a few handfuls of Fire Warriors. They were basecoated white, but my next box of them has been basecoated black, so we'll see how big a difference that makes.
Image

Image

Last but not least, the two Kroot I have painted.

So there you have it. Those are all the things I've gotten done-ish recently, and those I'm going to be going back to again and again to correct more things on. Like the Kroot's quills... blech. Anyways, tell me what you think!

Also, mods, I promise I resized that picture, it's just taking a bit to register... if it stays too large, I'll just take it down.

I know there are people reading this, or at least glancing at it... please post a reply? It makes me feel loved. Also, it makes me believe my stuff isn't as crappy as I think it is. Talk, people! :::(

I like how colorful your Kroot is. Lots of nice details without looking overdone.

I'm wondering, do you only have 1 read stealth? Or perhaps to you have a squad of red to go with the blue team?

The red stealth was just to see if I could mimic the style on the box. I liked how it looked, and originally I liked how much it made it stand out from the rest of my troops, but the other two got messed up while their basecoats were drying, so I ditched the idea and bought a new set. (I still have the others, but they make me sad to look at.)

Mom threw them away on accident, all balled up in the newspaper I sprayed them on, and that absolutely destroyed the coat and made the details shot to hell. It was very disenheartening, especially after the first suit's success.

If you still have them, then never fear! You can still stripp the paint and try again. I can't rememeber which chemicals can strip paint without melting the suits though, so you'll have to ask someone who's actually done it.

I still have an entire squad of FCWs that look like sad melting blobs of white because I waaaay over did it on the primer coat. Someday I'll strip 'em and re-paint em, but I don't know what chemicals to use. I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.

I had that problem a lot with the citadel black paint... I think its quality has been deteriorating lately. Unrelated, though. Any C&C, anybody?

Hi Kyrindon,

First, I don't know if it has been said before (didn't read through all replies), PLEASE crop down your images a bit! I have seen you have a Apple G5, on the pictures. Then you probably have the possibility of using photoshop?!? Open the pictures with photoshop and press alt+apple+i this shortcut will guide you to the menu in wich you can resize your images. solution 72 dpi and broadth about 600px - thanks.

If you need advice for photographing, check out my signature ;) btw the last pictures look pretty good.

The Scheme on your XV8 and Hammerhead, have I seen it before somewhere? :D Looking good, was what I wanted to say ;)
Good start on the XV25's. Keep it up and show us some progress soon

Sorry, but I can't help you with the colour-removing problem.
But if you start primering next time make sure only to apply a thin layer. And it's not neccessary to cover every corner with the spray. You can redo the missed parts with watered down black or white, this will also work.

Greetings
minamoto

I have a few new images to add, of my three latest Fire Warriors. Yes, I paint slow as hell, but I think I'm getting better, and I have more fun doing it this way. Never have time to play games anymore anyways, what with work and school and all...

I have too many hobbies.

Picture time!

I am proud of this lens, but I had to hold him in my hand to take the picture. Sorry for the blur!

Group shot.

So, tell me what you think!

Wow, these guys show a lot of improvement! I like the highlighting on the cloth; very nice! And good job on the lenses, I find them to be very difficult to do well.

What do you think about adding an accent color to the top of the Pulse Rifle? You know, the rectangle in the top center? Something to break up the white a bit. Not sure what color though...

I wonder, looking at these pictures now, if a diagonal striped black and yellow "caution" style panel wouldn't go amiss on the top of the blasters. I know it seems a bit out of place considering the sophisticated nature of Tau tech, but the colors would look good together...

Would use a Zig zagging line(s) instead of a human like caution strip. (unless you make it out of 1/2 circles that are linked togeter by a flowing line from circle to circle)
Maybe letting the color in the line get black towards the holder and yellow towards the the blaster top.
