As one of the last to upload my pictures, I hope to mesmerise every one of you :p

I was playing (losing) against the only active Necron-player that I have seen recently, when I thought of the valuable addition the technology of the neigh-unstoppable necrons would be for the greater good. :crafty:
So I started working on a downed pariah (under influence of an EMP-grenade for example). This however wasn't 100% by the modelling challenge-rules so I needed to add a little bit more Tau in the mix :P
Inspired by '343 Guilty spark' (Halo 1/2/3) I decided to add a drone with a kind of stasis-field projector, or an EMP-beam-weapon-thingy. As talking definitely isn't my best way of explaining things, here are my photos (a)

Complete (without base details, greenstuff and paint)

Downed Pariah (missing left hand and greenstuff 'sparks')

Assimilation drone (at least thats how I named it, If you think of a better name I would like to hear them ;) )

Love the idea, what about a "stasis containment drone" for a name and is that a lego lightsaber that you've used for the beam?

I love it! It really give the look like that drone is capturing the Pariah. I may just have to copy this idea!

As a suggestion, what about giving the drone something to bulk it up a bit. If it can extend that field, it would probably need a lot of power. Some kind of power generator maybe?

It has a small box in the back that can be seen as a kind of generator, it is between the rear two aerials.
the photo has to be somewhere in my bucket.....

I just finished painting the pariah, and I'm quite happy about it, the pole arm is not finished yet 'cause it needs another two coats of white before I'm satisfied. I have begun with the drone, but the layering and getting the shadows right is killing me right now. So I'm taking a short break :P.

Looks awesome man! One thing though, I think the pariah does not have enough shadings. It looks too blend and the bluish power does not capture the eye straight away. Perhaps by darkening the outlines of the blue parts it could make it stand out.

Anyway, the conversion looks really cool. If only we had the TT version of the emp drone. ;)

This is awesome! I'm gonna have to copy this idea for my Cadre but with Tyranid. I wish you the best in the comp!

I agree that it could be a little darker, but this isn't a painting comp, so no worries :D .

The drone is absolutely splendid. It's construction is niggling at me a bit (it'll be niggling me more when I find out the answer is obvious). I can see the rear vanes are trimmed Pulse Rifles / Carbines and the stasis beam is "regulated" by 4 photon grenade launchers. I can also see (I think) the gun drone mounting cut at an angle. That leaves the mounting for the rear vanes, that's eluding me at the moment. Care to enlighten me, so I can commence kicking myself? :)

Morat, you are right about most things.
I usually work with the bits that the original sprue provides, so I don't have to use my bit-box most of the time and I always have the stuff I need to make more... :nice:

The drone:
The base of the drone was a Gundrone. With the gun-mounting part, indeed cut in an angle and pinned on the original spot. I pinned the various grenade launchers onto the gundrone-mount in a 60 degree-angle (2 grenade launchers from my bitbox). the remaining parts are cut-up gundrone-pulsecarbines, which are cut diagonally from behind the scope to what I assume is the ammo-canister. These four (2 pulse carbines in total) parts are then glued in the gap left at the rear of the EMP/Stasis-weapon in an (about) 45 degree-angle.
The original hole meant for the flying base had to be widened so that it would fit on the LEGO Lightsaber.

It took me a good 4 hours, from the concept to the final unpainted drone (I do a lot of dry-fitting ;) )

Cheers,
PoisonBladeNL

Really nice work, and a very original drone I must say. I might find myself poaching from you in the future as I'm a big fan of weird drone assemblies. Best of luck to you!

There is so much inspiration for me to work now.

I think that after my homework tomorrow and Wednesday I can get back to work on my armies since the Robotics competition season is over.
