Right, so after seeing more and more people posting some pictures of their miniatures, I thought it was time for me to carefully show some parts of my Cadre.

First of all, I'll have to admit that I'm more in Warhammer for the games than for the painting, although I do like to put a fully painted army on the table. I've picked up a Tau Battleforce at Warhammer World the day before I visited the gamesday, boosting my army from 800 to about 1500 points, so it's all very ''WIP''. (I can here you think: "Yeah yeah, enough with the excuses, show 'em off!'' ;) )

Well, here goes... :P

First, Some Firewarriors:
Image

The Firewarriors disembarking from my WIP 'Fish in a recent battle against the Orks (Notice a bit of the XV9 Hazard suit in the background):
Image

Better look at the 'WIP' 'Fish:
Image

One of my Crisis Suits and a Broadside behind the Aegis defense walls:
Image

And to finish it up for now, some very 'WIP' Kroot:
Image

I've still got a lot of work ahead of me; the 'Fish, the kroot, 12 more FW's, the XV9 Hazard suit, a XV88-2 Broadside, some more stealths, pathfinders... So much work and so little time! :P

All C&C is very welcome and always appreciated!

Hey Yabyahoo! I really love your colour scheme, though all Tau with white armour seem to look great!

Anyway, keep up the good work, I also can't wait to see your 'Fish and XV9 painted up!

Also could you tell me how you painted your Kroot skin? It looks quite good, and I may have to steal that from you!

Thank you for your quick replies! I appreciate them a lot :)

From the moment I started my Cadre, I wanted them to be white, thinking about the Imperial Stormtroopers (Star Wars). As time passed they have developed their own style. I start with a chaos black undercoat, and work the colours up layer by layer: Shadow Grey, Space Wolves Grey, Skull White.

As for a name... I don't really have one for them yet :P They hail from the Vior'La Sept, because I liked their fluff about being hot-blooded and aggressive. So I figure this should be the "Vior'La Arctic Assault Cadre" (Or something like that ;))

I've got to admit that the scheme for the Kroot skin is incredibly easy, and you''ll probably get a chuckle out of this one:

After a standard Chaos Black undercoat, I painted the flesh-parts with the Gretchin Green foundation, only to apply the Badab Black wash afterwards. ;)

Keep the C&C coming! I'll keep the thread as tightly updated as possible ;)

I had a chuckle to myself after reading your last post since its basicly the same color scheme as my army except the cloth is codex grey the armor is white with red sept markings them being from Vior'la and such and i also had the plan to have them specialise in snow based enviroments and with that all my Fire warriors have their helmets on apart from my pilot.

I guess great minds think alike.

Haha, that's correct! All my Tau warriors have their helmets on, even my tank commander (ForgeWorld). I'm not really that good with faces, the Kroot are my first real ''try''.

Goodday ATT, Yabyahoo reporting in again.

I thought it was time for a little update, since I wanted to add a Shaper to my Kroot Squad, I decided to just get one.

Here's a picture of him with the rest of the squad:
Image

And a picture of a little update on the Devilfish + Commander:

C&C is still very welcome!

Love the cadre, stuck between a clean white or an urban weathered cadre myself. Cant wait to see the xv9 done.
Just wondering how you achieved such a nice, smooth white, looks great ! ;)

Thanks Obione!

I'm working on my 'Fish and my Pathfinders next, so keep your eyes on this thread ;)

The smooth white is accomplished by adding some water to my skull white paint. After I've painted the surface white, I paint them again with the 'Watered-down' version, which covers everything very neatly :)

The coming weekend is going to be a "Warhammer Weekend" with some of my friends. I'll be facing Necrons, Orks, Imperial Guard and Space Marines, so I wonder how my new units will do. I'll keep you posted! :fear:

Seeing as how I happened to notice your little WIP I decided I'd take the time to comment on something you obviously took your time on. Love the clean look. Really like the kroot. And thanks for showing off the XV-9, reminds me how much I want one.

Just one word of advice, you should gem those fire warriors. Their eyes seem to flat. Gemming their eyes and their guns would really make them stand out. I just got finished gemming all the weapons on my suits with the same blue gem effect I used on my stealth suits. You should give it a shot some time and see if it looks good with your army.

Either way, great army so far. I know how you feel about WIP, I still got so much to do.

Thank you Firestorm!

Yes, I really have to take the time to paint the lenses of my FireWarriors. I did 'gem' the Crisis suit on one of the pictures, and the Multitracker of that Broadside. I've seen your stealthsuits, and I really should get cracking on that one! :)

Nope, I don't. I use a Chaos Black undercoat, which I then work up with Shadow Grey --> Space Wolves Grey --> Skull White. However, I bought some Astronomican Grey foundation (Check out the 'Fish tank commander) to work it up from black to white. I'm going to try that for now, since using 3-4 different colors started to consume a lot of time ;)

Edit: Correction: The Devilfish is the only model so far that I've undercoated with a Skull White undercoat.

So thats what I did wrong last time i painted white armor. I'll have to remember that technique as I have all those colors.

I noticed the gemming you did already and it really looks good! :) Keep it up.

I'm in high need for some new Skull White and Shadow Grey, since these ones have dried out....

There's a team-tournament this coming saturday, a new opertunity to show off some Greater Good ;)

Ah yes, my new Skyray and Hammerhead have come in! Time for some more magnet-work.

As I wanted to have the Skyray Missile Platform a bit more interactive, and since it can only carry 6 missiles, I thought it'd be handy to be able remove them once they were fired.

I've looked up some other tutorials that explained how to put some clipped screws/nails in the missile-rails and place the magnets in the missiles. But my magnets turned out to be too big to fit in those missiles, so I switched it around: Magnets in the rack, metal on the missiles.

The magnets in the rack:

The rack, with some missiles loaded:

It was pretty annoying to get those Neodynium magnets in to place, since they're so strong the keep pulling eachother out of place ;)

On to the next project! (Probably more painting)
C&C Appreciated!

Goodday ATT, time for another update! I've done some paintwork on my vehicles, and I'd like your C&C on the colours ;)

This picture shows my three tanks (1 'Fish, but with the Skyray mount).
Image

Here's a close-up on the Hammerhead.
Image

Now, the Skull White and Shadow Grey combo is the main colour-scheme of my Cadre. But for the tanks, the two colours are a bit to bland in my opinion.
I haven't made a choice of which colour to add yet.... Codex Grey, Space Wolves Grey or just Chaos Black? What do you think?

And to close the update, here's a little pic of my (nearly finished) Crisis Suits.
Image
The right one is still ''Un-magnetised'', it's the next thing I'm going to do ;) Which makes all my crisis suits magnetised and ready for their configurations.

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions!

Your cadre is looking really nice, the color scheme looks nice on the fire warriors but looks a little bland on the large surfaces of your tanks. One thing you could try would be some subtle camouflage on the white of the tanks to break up the large area, also don't forget to paint the panel lines on your tanks black, that will also help to break up the colors on your tank. Looking forward to seeing more.

Time for another update! And thanks White_Charisma for your feedback, I haven't had the possibility to try the black lining yet, it'll be up next!

The Hammerhead with a little extra detail and nice straight dark-blue panels.
Image

And a little 30 minutes left this afternoon, I needed a break from painting white the most of the time ;)

C&C appreciated!

I've got two weeks of painting left 'till the Dutch Frenzy, (Dutch Doubles-Tournament) and I'd like to battle my way to a good position!

Time for another update!

As some of you might've already read, I participated in the Dutch Frenzy (Doubles Tournament), the battle report is located here.

In the meantime I've added another XV88 to my cadre, as well as a Piranha (with Fusion Blaster). The XV88 is nearing completion, but the Piranha still needs a white undercoat.

I've also been working on my Hammerhead(s), with the following result:
Image

I had to 'massacre' my paintjob for the black lining, repainting the white and blue afterward. I have to say the effect was worth it, since it makes the blue and white parts stand out neatly :) I've also applied the first transfers, which you can see in the next picture.
Image

Please let me know what you think!
