Hello all.
Just recently, I made my first foray into Battlefleet Gothic, otherwise known as BFG, a Specialist game that focusses on space combat in the 41st millennium. My order arrived today, faster than I expected.
Exploring this site, I have found allot of threads showing the fleets of other members (usually in the Enemies and Alternate systems section), but most of the ones I have thus far encountered are Imperial or Chaos (the fleets of course).
So I thought I would do my part and document my fleet, a Tau one.
So far it is largely in it's infancy, just one Explorer, but I was told that If you treat her right, she'll be with you 'till the day you die.
Sorry, no pictures just yet, as I am not quite sure how to get a photo from a file onto a post.
Also, a cookie to the first person to identify correctly what Sci-Fi show I have referenced in this post!

Thanks for that.
It seems then that the only way to get the on here then is through Photobucket. Is there any other way? (I would prefer not to join Photobucket for the time being)

Sherpa has pointed you in the right direction for your image posting query. There are alternatives to photobucket but yes linking from off-site storage is essentially the only way to post images on the ATT forum.
The Sci-Fi you are referencing is of course Firefly, the episode was "Out of Gas" I believe.
Looking forward to seeing your minis

(I would prefer not to join Photobucket for the time being) You don't actually have to join an image hosting site to host images there, you just won't get access to some of the features. But for basic hosting for forums, you don't need any of that.

Okay, I decided to bite the bullet and join. It says that it's free, and I hope it is. Anyway, sorry about the false start, now for some pictures! I figured I should probably start at the begining, so here is the packaging: Next is an 'Exploded View, so you can get the idea of how everything fits together: Here are the various components up close Prow and Bridge: Main body Engine block Launch bays Gravitic hooks Railcannons Sorry about the quality of the last two images, but those parts are VERY small and my house is not the brightest of places, so my camera flashed. EDIT: corrected images

You put two sets of [img] tags on them. Yours: Code: [img][IMG]http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx147/Kakapo42/IMG_0726.jpg[/img][/img] Correct: Code: [img]http://i750.photobucket.com/albums/xx147/Kakapo42/IMG_0726.jpg[/img] So now it shows up, like this:

just a lil' tip. Next time you take pics of your minis, put them on a plain white paper or so. So the camera can easily autofocus on the parts and minis. Now get some paint on that Ship

Also, it might be wise to size the images down. They expanded beyond the edge of my browser unless I maximized it, and that doesn't normally happen.

Right, now I am back from a short holiday, and I have some more pictures: The assembled model Next to a tape measure. As you can see, it's approximately 5 and a half inches long. Size comparison next to a Devilfish. Please don't laugh at my painting skills.

Very nice, looking good so far, and don't bash your painting, it's not all that bad.

Comrades, I have new pictures for you. I have started work on painting. It still needs a bit of tidying here and there and maybe some pannel lines but the bulk of the work is finished. Here we go. Now, while we are on this subject now should be a good time to go over my colour scheme. It is white (similar to the examples on the Specialist Games page, as I am a traditionalist), with a coloured trim that denotes the ship's function. Here's the guide: RED= standard configuration BLUE= variant configuration BLACK= exterminator (a special type of ship available in one of the BFG scenarios) GREEN= special (probably command, but this is not yet finalised) Escorts attached to a capital ship have a matching trim, otherwise they use the same system. Not sure what will designate transports or orbitals yet though... Also, I am undecided as to wether ordinance should be coloured in the desert camoflague pattern of my normal 40k force (as they are used to support ground operations) or painted in the same scheme as my other ships (with trim matching their parent ship). That's all for now.

It looks rather flat. Maybe painting it in Space Wolves Grey or Astronomican Grey and then highlighting/drybrushing white, or even just layering it so it shows through the gaps?

New, 'improved' Explorer. Hope it is an improvement... Now if only I could find a stand that supports it...

Looking very nice but I have one final nitpick: I think the engine glow should be another colour. Probably blue. Using the red glow like that makes it seem like they are just more red painted panels.

All of the 'older' ships in my fleet (Explorer, Orca and standard Merchant) will have red engine glows, while the 'newer' ships will have more advanced 'blue drives'. Funny you mentioned that though, as they really did look like red pannels whne I was painting them. In the future I might do away with the red base and just use orange and wellow.

Nice work on your fleet looks like something my Cadre would be stationed in well the colour scheme but that goes for any Vior'la sept that favors white .

First off I would like to say I like how it is coming along man. Now if only GW had some tau ship mods I liked and I would start playing. I would suggest you wash it mayby once or twice more then drybrush white over it and pehaps (as crazy as I may be) add sept markings beyond the re panels perhaps a third color.
