For the sept color, try a dark yellow, goldenrod. Bright yellow would be too cartoony (though it WOULD work, technically) and the white/bleached bone would tend to blend with the other markings. Green is the opposite of red on the color wheel, but it would look out of place here, I think. Yellow is a cousin of green, and using a darker (warmer) shade of yellow should offset the brightness of the red and complement the darker grey metallics.

That and Gold is a "color of command", anyway. ^_^

The extra bits i use for the shin and hands (the shoulder and knee armor also on the xv88) came from 3" IronMan figurines i found in the local toy store chain, cost me around 2.2$ (converted) for each one. Its made of soft plastic so its easy to carve out what you need. The figures have all sorts of panels we could use as extra bits for our suits.

Great army! The contrasting colors work great (red white), and the skin color of your kroot is spot on!

Hello again, id like to share what im currently working on. I got the forgeworld battlesuits which i plan to use as regular xv8s

XV81 and XV84 (Commander and Deathrain Teamleader)
Image

Shas'O R'alai and XV88-2
Image

the xv8's will have magnetized weapons. Still working on the xv89 then the xv9s and r'myr. Am planning also on a removable add-on to the piranha to add a roof to the cockpit to make it more like the tx-42s so that i can field tx-42s in my game

There will be a local tourney in 2 weeks for 2k points so am aiming to finish the tx-42 conversions and the rest of my battlesuits to be fit for combat by then. Tourney is 7 games in 7 weeks, so hopefully in the same time i could finish painting the base colors of everything

also tau dice

Lovely lovely Forgeworld stuff :)

I'm working on R'alai at the moment - a word of warning: the right (gun) arm is rather heavy for the very small and seemingly weak shoulder joint, I would recommend pinning it :fear:

Looking forward to seeing you get this lot done in time for the tournament

I hope the Tau symbol is not the "one". These GW dices with the imperial eagel on it are in truth no imperial dices. They are chaos dices! Who wants to have the eagle when it stands for the one? ;)

Obviously these dices are used for leadership only, anything else would be heresy..

The imperium of man never rolles on leadership! They succed automatically! To put this in question is herey ;)

But yes, you're right, but now, I used them for shooting, too... and I was punished therefore

First try on making a roof for the piranha to make it look more like the tx-42. I used 2 strips of styene and plastic cemented the faces facing each other then kept the entire combo bent so that it would melt and harden in that position to keep the bent position. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Also got to use my new tau dice on a 750 pt game vs black templars and demolished them haha. My friends now claim my tau dice are weighted hahaha

Roof is perhaps too close to the front pilot?

I agree with XENO, he's going to bang his head when they stop... Maybe if you build up the roof slope from the prow you can get a better angle, and also eliminate the double hump effect.
