Hello ATT!

This coming Saturday is the first major engagement for my cadre, which has really inspired me to put in some serious work on my army. Scheduling and lighting permitting, I hope to put up some pictures of this up and coming force (I apologize in advance since my only camera is on my phone). I will also try to squeeze in their Necron allies as well (it's a team tourney), as well as how well the tournament went. Your feedback would be most appreciated, since this is really the center for all things Tau.

Thank you for your time.

Hi!
As you're going to use your phone (what kind of phone, btw?), I'd suggest that you take pictures as far away as possible, since close-ups can be quite blurry. You can always trim the pictures later. Practace before the game. Also make sure you have enough battery life and memory for all the pictures!
What kind of game are you playing, and what forces are you facing?
Will there be background story for the game?
Anyway, I'm waiting for your pictures and report, good luck for the game!

I found a few minutes to snap pictures.

Here is 1st Teams Shas'ui

The phone is a smarter-than-the-average-phone Samsung. Please let me know if the picture quality is substandard. We theory-hammered some stuff out, but as we don't know exactly what will be across the table, we are just going to have to adapt to whatever comes up.

It's a local team tournament, each player brings 800 pts. and each list counts as an allied detachment to your teammates. Our team consists of a Tau detachment and a Necron detachment. However, I really want to focus on the modelling and painting, as this is in the lower concourse. I will at least post our standings/results though.

Any feedback and comments on the model is appreciated, and I hope to have them all painted and based sometime Friday.

P.S. Any help/advice getting the image size down would be greatly appreciated.

Real quick post. Tournament went okay. The team preformed well, and we won our second of three rounds. The Tau really put it down, and accounted for quite a few of the enemy deaths. The Necrons really proved there worth keeping fire off of the Tau. They soaked up so much fire that I am considering weathering, battle damage, or some converting or fancy base work.

I'm throwing up more pictures tomorrow, so don't worry, this is still definitely a lower concourse thread.

And I guess I got my pictures sized right?

As promised, here are the pictures of the army in progress.
I got the basing done literally an hour before the tournament, so it was a bit of a rush job, but I'm happy with them so far.

That's it so far. Still so much to do, but for the greater good I'll keep painting! C&C is welcome and encouraged, and thank you for taking the time to look through my photos.

Striking force (double statement there..); what red are you using there? It is really rich and seems only a couple of layers.

Much appreciated Tael. The color is more a success due to the new citadel paint range than my apparent skill. Annoying as it may be to learn and do the color conversions, those paints are a dream to work with. All models armour sections are done with a black primer coat, then a base of Mephiston Red, then a coat of Wazdakka Red, washed with Nuln Oil, and highlighted with Evil Suns Scarlet. There is only one layer of each red on the model. Their fatigues are a base of Zandri Dust, a coat of Rotting Flesh (soon to be replaced by its new equivalent), then washed with Devlan Mud (also soon to be replaced). I am extremely happy with the way they came out.
I really hope to get back to my Tau as soon as I can, but a friend of mine just picked up the Dark Vengeance box and I am helping him get them all painted.

I'll make sure to get some more Tau up here soon, and thanks for taking a look!

Great looking Tau! I like your O'Shovah conersion!
However, few things I'd like to point out:
-O'Shovah's left leg seems to be flipped 180 degrees. Hard to fix, and rather unnoticable, so I'd leave it as it is.
-You have rather thick blobs of paint in your suits, O'Shovah has at least one at the end of his plasma rifles barrel. The glow effect on your other suits plasma rifles also have similar blob. I'd try to remove that and redo. Have you tried watering down your paints?

I'd like to see more, Necrons maybe?

(spelling)

Are you talking about his lower left leg or the entire leg? Because I'm not seeing what you are seeing.

Sharp eye Shadovn. I didn't even see that paint blob at the end of Farsight's plasma rifle. I will have to fix that before he makes an appearance at the next tournament. His lower left leg is flipped, an unfortunate need in the cutting and repositioning of the leg for the dynamic pose, but I was happy with the solution, especially after the panic of getting a bad cut through that leg when I built him. The blobs on my Shas"El and his buddies must be greatly exaggerated by the photos because they don't look near as bad on the shelf. I'll see about posting my Necron allies up in the appropriate section later today or sometime this week.

Lower part of the leg, as Doran'Ray kindly pointed out... Sorry, I should have been more specific. If you look at the models leg, you can see an angle in front of the leg (thanks to the highlighting). When compared to the other suits with unmodified legs, you can see that this angle should be on the other side.

First cameras added ten pounds, and now this... Oh well, at least we can share somewhat accurate pictures through internet. And your phone can take pictures MUCH better than my potato.

Note to self: do not post when in a hurry. And ALWAYS double-check.

Wow, I look away for a second and almost a whole month flies by. I do sincerely apologize for the lapse in posting. Silly life events keep pulling me away from the hobby. Anyway, to the updates!

I have brought six more Crisis Suits and a Devilfish almost up to table top quality. Hope to have those detailed and based before my battle tomorrow (Greenskins need killing). Along with those I have put base color on two full Gun Drone Squadrons and some more Shield Drones. Pictures of these are soon to follow, I hope.

Almost 50% through my Pathfinder conversions. The going is slow here because I really want them to look good. It is a predominantly Rail Rifle sniper squad, and is something I've always wanted to do and play on the table.

After those are completed, I can then move on to another 30-something Fire Warriors. Oh, the joy of assembly line painting infantry . . . These will then be followed by the laborious process of stripping five more Devilfish chassis and then the painting of said vehicles. *inward groan*

Please bear with me during the interim. I promise that I will work to continue posting images of the army for review by the ATT community. I was very much humbled by the replies so far. I won't let you down!

For The Greater Good

Another quick update before "the day of craziness" starts.

2000 pt tournament coming up in two weeks, expect a lot of painting to get done in the near future.

Also, a friend of mine is very close to getting another motorcycle. Why is this an update, you ask? Because he wants me to paint the gas tank and headlight cowling to look like an Imperial Guard vehicle! Very excited about this project and I hope he can get the bike soon!

Doran'Ray out.

Your army Looks good! Our armor looks like it came from the same factory :)
Are you running any squad markings on the fire warriors?

Farsight looks well posed and painted, and I especially like the attention to the base details. You should consider extending that to the rest of your army.
