Re: Onmyou's Motivation Service

I’ve been needing a thread like this to get me motivated again! I have a tonne of unpainted models that I really want to get done, just been ver6 busy at university at the moment (revision period it the best time to get my hobbies done haha :P )

Anyway, I have been meaning to get all my models into the same paint scheme (I went through a phase of making each squad different and now I hate it - mainly infantry models though).

So my pledge for this month, starting date 2nd November:

- 36 x Fire Warriors (some from scratch, some need repainting into army paint scheme)
- 6 x Drones (for fire warrior units above)
- 2 x Cadre Fireblades (again, need repainting into army scheme)

Target date: 30th November

Pictures will come!

@snipertau:I can't wait to see your project come together :)
@quartz nice goal. It's ambitious, which means it's a good goal. Setting to low of goals only gets you mediocre results

An update on the stormsurge. I am making a custom stim injector(seen in picture). I magnetized it, now I need to paint it black and use a green sharpie marker to color the bottom half of the injector (going for a piston look). This is as far as I was able to get. 100℅ magnetization is complete. I misplaced his base (possible at my dad's house when I went over to do laundry, yesterday). Tomorrow, I am unable to work on him. Saturday I field this guy. His name is ...Nova Fin. My subtle way of calling him a "Death Star". After the event I still plan to work on him. The heads and tau shield like symbol on the arm are held up temporarily by poster tact so I can revisit painting later.

Yeah :-? It I quite amitious haha, I’m going to do it in a sort of assembly line of painting which I think will be the most efficient way of getting them look uniform.

Why the sad face? Ambitious is a must. People often have trouble being exceptional in life not because they set high goals and miss them, it's because they set their goals TOO LOW and actually HIT them. Then they don't push themselves to their limits and max out on their potential. The trick is to set your goal just higher than your comfort zone.

At any rate I got faith in you and your goal. Don't let me or yourself down, buddy :)

Pro tip: Key to hitting any goal of any size is to start.

Update:

Had a very productive evening.

Image

Crisis Suits are Assembled, Magnetized, and Primed.
Crisis Suit Gear is fully magnetized.
Ethereal is Assembled and Primed.
All 8 Drones are Assembled, Primed, and Basecoated.

Next step is to touch-up the drones and give them a wash before starting highlights.

All with over a month left till my stated deadline... I"m starting to think my goal wasn't ambitious enough. That's ok though, if I meet my goal too soon, I'll just set another one. That's the whole point, right? :)

El'mo, do you freehand your forest camo or are you using stencils, tape, etc?

This one was freehand but I have been known to use stencils from Mask-Fx before - I had run out with this model but have now managed to re-stock.

Well, I'm happy to say that I made my first deadline!

Image

There's 16 Fire Warriors and 6 Gun Drones- and 2 bonus Gun Drones too!

My next deadline is going to be simpler- I'm out of town for the last two weeks of November so I'll get much less done this month.

Deadline 2: December 2, 2017

4x Fire Warriors
2x Fire Warrior Shas'ui
4x Gun Drones
4x Shield Drones

You probably noticed that, in my pictures, the Fire Sept symbol on my Fire Warriors' shoulder pads is missing. For now I just don't trust my skills as a painter enough; I'll leave them blank until I have a good plan for painting those difficult white-on-black patterns.

It's really heartening to see everyone's progress! :D
Keep up the great work guys!

This week I struggled a bit with my Breacher squad, but I reckon I should get to the finish line on time...

Also continued the Barracuda, put in a few more details:

I had an event yesterday so I didn't get much painting done. I'm taking a small break from doing any more painting this weekend. I put some Balthazar gold on the gun and made the stim pack look cool.

I started a new deadline, so I'm building, priming, and basecoating- nothing to report yet as far as finished models, but stay tuned!

@arka, your firewalkers look great!
@cmdrcash good job for making the deadline
@elmo, the paint job is awesome but my untrained eyes can't tell what was changed from riptides first picture and it's last one.
