Well I finally did it. I got my new Ironclad and I have finished in little more than three nights of workin on it. This bad boy has a chainfist w/heavy flamer, a hurricane bolter, two hunter-killers, smoke & searchlight (not mounted), and ironclad assault launchers.

Its a nice change of pace from paintin Tau and I got to test my new foundation paint Adeptus Battlegrey. Its perfect for what I'll really need it for but you guys won't be seein that till its done. ;)

So without Further ado I bring you "Vires". Which in Latin means strength, might, and power. Enjoy.

Curious to how I did some of this? Just ask.

Damn you Firestorm! :P Now I've seen how good this guy can look in black, I'm going to have to get one for my Deathwatch. It looks like you may have missed a little metal on the Huricane Bolters though.

I could have drybrushed more on but I didn't feel it neccesary. This guy is supposed to be worn and the best way to do that is have colors faded away. Notice the Tin Bitz on the heavy flamer. That and it looks a bit better in reality. But hey I found out my camera does have a Macro setting... which means more pictures of high detail.

Well its been eons since I've been on his project. I do have some neat unpainted minis for this army now and one that is painted. Alas I do not have a camera yet.

No matter, stay tuned in a couple of days and you will be well rewarded.

Well folks I have finally gotten more than my simple little Iron Clad. I now have three new marines finished. (Plenty more are sitting on a shelf ready to be painted) So I'll just save the details till later, first pictures!

Image

This is the first marine for my tactical squad. The knight's templar rarely have a soldier that has not embellished his armor to some degree. This is primarily because they do this before every crusade or battle. After a time their armor becomes covered with hymnals and litanies. The Litany of the Crusader and the Crusader's Hymnal are both widely popular to borrow text from.

Image

This assault crusader is one of what will eventually be an 8 man crusader squad. Crusader squads are similar to vangaurds except they can not take quite as much equipment. However they are troops unless taken with jetpacks. I have used my two small (and mostly unpainted) squads in games before and they are balanced yet effective. This marine has the Crusader's Hymnal adorning his shoulders as well as the red I to represent he is part of the first crusader squad of the 7th company. (It is not the inquisition I) The Blue cross on the jetpack signifies he is a fast attack option. Last but not least my first attempt at laurels signifies his veteran status. (The eventual sergeant will have a different color helm with different laurels)

Image

This is my emporer's champion. He is like his Black Templar cousin but has the same rule as the chapter champion. (Honor or glory, or something like that) His mighty relic blade (signified with the writing, the glow simply means power weapon) is his only weapon really. The banner is to honor Vires, who once served as an assault sergeant till he joined the second company in the Assault on Braxis spaceport. (More on this some other time) Vires fell in that battle and was placed in a dreadnought, an Ironclad to be specific. This is because he always carried his ancient thunder hammer in battle, and instructed his brothers in the art of destroying tanks. This tradition is still carried out today, although he gave his ancient hammer to the chapter champion.

Image

And then finally we have the group shot of what little I have finished. I hope you folks enjoy them.

This Space Marine Chapter is to be an epic work of fluff and painting and someday I will finish them to every extent. That day is a long way off though, so until then enjoy what I do finish, and I will be sharing battle reports of these guys using their own rules.

I love the freehand banner on the Emperors champion. My only complaint is the knee pad on the first tactical marine is a tad busy, personally think it'd look better all white....

Keep at it! :D

As cool as they are, I have only one major gripe: You didn't use an actual Emperor's Champion! It's my fave 40k sculpt! (Queek is my fave fantasy one. :) )

Either way, keep it up; crisp clean lines and smooth coats a good-looking army does make! ;)

@Xanadu: Yeah i see what you mean, and that has been fixed already. You'll see what I mean once I get around to the rest of the tactical squad.

@Orpheus: The champion is asctually made out of spare captain bits because I made an assault captain. Trust me I will use the emporer's cahmpion once I get more companies in production.

Unfortunately I'll be off to college sometime relatively soon. So before I go I decided to try and get some more models at least built for my Knights Templar since I don't know when the next time I'll be able to work on them is. So without further ado here is whats been done.
Image

My terminators have really proven to be a tough unit. They've taken down 2 Damon Princes and several Blood crushers without breaking morale or running away in a single game. They may be slow but their heavy flamer rips apart swarms of units and the power fists make short work of everything else.

Image

While this small assault squad may be slow, they are not to be underestimated since they are both quite dangerous on the charge, and they are still tough as nails. The small size allows them to use cover to its fullest, and if I ever get to use them as a crusader squad they will truly make a name for themselves.

Image

This is my fast moving hard hitting Vanguard Squad. They may be expensive but they are both tough and powerful. They've taken on bloodcrushers and seekers without faltering, and only the biggest of creatures can slay them easily, and with Heroic Intervention they can strike at the heart of the enemy when it matters most. As Knights Templar they can also be used as a Crusader squad at which point they become truly adaptable.

Image

My primary tactical squad is meant to be balanced. They have a missile launcher, and a melta gun. This allows them to engage light and heavy vehicles, and hordes of infantry. With support from the assault elements and the other tactical squad they become a beachhead that can withstand the enemies first waves.

Image

While they may seem fairly basic, I plan on adding a lascannon to them so they can engage vehicles beyond their normal range. This will make them effective heavy killers and tank hunters. Although Vires will still be better against the truly tough vehicles.

Image

My fearless captain, he can meet the enemy anywhere and still hold his own. He can move around his forces and aid the line where it matters most. With lightning claw and combi-melta he smites the enemies of the imperium. Once the Vanguards show up he can take the fight to the enemy can drive them back.

In addition to whats been shown in pictures throughout this post I have two main things I still need to get. A lascannon for my second tactical squad, and a terminator Librarian. I have a storm shield waiting for him. The librarian is because of the simple fact that I constantly fight daemons and I have noticed null zone is the bane of any daemon army. Thusly it will become tradition to include a Librarian in most of my games.
