Hi guys!
I recently got this little gem in the mail and I just painted him today due to being snowed in. He was insanely fun to paint and as he stands he is 95% done aside from some touchups and his axe maybe some base work. I would like some input on what I can add to the model and how to go about finishing the axe, a glow effect perhaps?
The pictures were taken from my EVO so excuse the slightly lower quality.

Man, that is one detailed model! I wish your camera could do it more justice!

I feel like he is missing something though....maybe its the fact that the black areas look so dull. What exactly is your color scheme? I mean, I know Libbies are often blue, but I was wondering if you were going for a certain look specifically.

Haha, oh and I think his proper name is MAGISTER, not Magistrate. :D Now I am having fun imagining him in like a small backwater town, really cracking down on small crimes. "You shall pay for your parking tickets or feel the fury of my blade!"

Wow TiH!
Great work on the Libby! I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Maximus armoured, so this is pushing all the right buttons for me. :P

I have two questions for you:

1) Will we be seeing your renditions of the Red Scorpion Honour Guard chaps on here soon?
2) Is there any reason why you decided to eschew the normal blue armour for the Librarian?

Once again, great work!

Sevrin Loth: Kharn, you stand accused of several thousand counts of grievous bodily harm, and a further thousand counts of 1st degree murder...
How do you plead?
Kharn: KILL MAIM BURN!!

Hi guys,
So he is Magister, my bad... Well now I can call him Maggie. As for the nonstandard color, I just didn't like the whole blue scheme and I felt like it was too out of place. I might make his black armor the same dark blue from the chest plate either that or I should put brighter highlights on top of the charadon granite.
Edit: Oops on another note, he's not for the Red Scorpions, rather he is for for my DIY Crimson Guardians so Loth is just the model name I might have to rename him later for fluff.

edited due to bad grammar

That is a nice looking job there! I feel almost like I'm at a kings party and the herald just announced his arrival. I'm curious though, what is a Magistrate? He looks like a Librarian or Chaplain. Either way, nice paint job Terminatorinhell!

I think a Magistrate is like a royal judge or something among those lines, nah he's actually a really powerful Librarian, Magister is a title (or his first name I'm not sure) but I called him Magistrate. The others call him Maggie, but never to his face.

Czar Ziggy, a magistrate is a civil officer or lay judge (i.e. not a lawyer), who administers the law, and especially smaller courts for minor offences. They were often a feature of frontier towns, colonies etc.
A magister is a title for a medieval scholar, especially if the scholar taught in a university.
Both words come from the same Latin root, meaning "master."

Hey guys, I finally have some free time for my beloved marines and I have read a ton of tutorials and I finally decided to make a new Chapter Master Ryoto model and paint him to my absolute highest standards. I tried for a more natural black that looks more like a dark grey. He looks a bit more like a Helghan from Killzone atm though... :P
Here are his earlier pictures

No love for the Spehs Mahreens? :(
Ah Well,
After a long day's work, this is what I managed to get done, Im not sure how to highlight the leather or what to do with the bone accents so I could use a few ideas and does anyone have ideas to improve the sword?

Wow, that is really good Termie! You have come a long way man. I love the pose, the color scheme and the use of parts.

Where is that helmet from?

I love the model, the conversion, the paint scheme...it just works!

As for the sword...I've always thought the Hellreaver Polearm from world of warcraft was awesome...Maybe this will inspire you?

Wow I thought this thread was lost haha, amazingly you guys found it :D. Well, I took of his sword and I want to repaint it as a normal silver sword in proper metals with one half darker than the other, only issue is the center part, I don't really know what do do with it.

I have seen several painted with a blue or green light going up the center....personally I think a red light going up the center would look ace with possibly black or green ''aura'' rings.

Well done! He is quite the imposing Chapter Master. I especially love the pose, as he just seems to be thundering confidently across the battlefield, fully prepared to destroy the abomination standing before him, no matter what happens around him.

And of course I'm not familiar with Ryoto. Is he a member of your own Chapter, or a GW Chapter?

And will there be more of this Chapter in the works?

Hello guys :D I have been painting a Finecast miniature for a local GW competition , trying to improve my techniques using less washes and more glazing :). I am painting the finecast sternguard sergeant and his earlier WIP pics are all in my WGC thread http://www.wargamercentral.com/viewtopi ... 9&start=70 (bit of language in that thread and some suggestive themes) but here are his most recent pictures. He isn't quite finished because I need some help on what to add paint wise to the base and a little advice on my shading, to see if it is really noticeable. After him I will add in some terminators and a special Dreadknight.

Ok, so I'm not the ace of painters like Tael. In this case though I think my advice may come in handy a little especially since your entering a competition. First thing I'd recommend...maybe throw some badab black on the reds to help blend them a little better.

Next, I would suggest taking some darker blue paint to the hand in between the finger areas. The reason I suggest this is because the fingers should be more defined, rather than just glow. Otherwise, just tighten up the highlights and you should be good to go. (Definitely use mithril silver for highlighting the boltgun (I assume thats the metal color you used).
