If you wanted to add some flare to it, you could add a standard on his backpack. Would add color, but also show your skill as a painter on flat surfaces as well. Another idea might be to take some shining gold and highlight just the top tip of the chest emblem on the bird to give it some color too, but it would have to be very light and thin so it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the emblem. Lastly, the hand would be the one thing you want to spend a little more time cleaning up. It looks pretty decent, but like I mentioned in my last post adding some depth in between the finger cuffs on the fist would definatly do it some justice. For reference, I'll post one of my stealth so you get the idea. If you notice on the hand how I painted each bend in the finger with a darker shade, it adds major depth to the hand. Now the lighting of your sternguard's fist would be perfect for this particular technique. Just paint it like you would the lines of Tau tanks and suits, very thin, start with a darker color, then blend with a slighty lighter color. Keep in mind, I still think it looks great, but I'm just throwing in my personal opinion here.

Thanks for the advice on the hand, but I don't think I should put a banner because I don't like painting them :/ and plus how are they even practical, they're like big shoot me signs.

Not what ya think Hey guys, I got bored of my own scheme so I decided to try to paint yellow, I made a melta marine in a taunting pose and I thought he would look great as a Fist anyways so here he is. The head isnt his permanent head I just wanted to see if I could fix up a badly painted head. I tried to hide my bad mastery of yellow with some battle damage did t work He is about 90% done just some detail work needed and touch ups. <- head looks godawful < gun needs work [img]http://i54.tinypic.com/15ov3op.jpg[/im

To be honest the yellow doesn't look bad at all and looks quite good and smooth; it's the rest of the colours that need work. The extras including the gun, white trim, red trim and eagle look like they need to have their paint thinned and more meticulously applied.
I'm also not a fan of battle damage on yellow done with a metallic and I think would have looked a lot better with charadon granite or something similar. The parchments could use another wash as well and the loin cloth parchment could be improved with writing that follows the folds of the cloth; as it is now the text doesn't bend where the cloth does and looks odd.
Don't get me wrong, he looks good but without advice you can't improve and since you've posted a non-tau related item I assume it is to improve and receive advice on technique. Again, the yellow looks good but the rest of the model could use some tidying up.
Cheers.

I think I might end up stripping and repainting the gun, also I might clean up the white a little, if it looks thick on the left pad it might be because i did a bad job filing off the red scorpions symbol that was there . I will definitely redo the parchment parts as well.

Hey guys sorry I didnt have much more for this thread but I might make it a more general WIP for my marines, Crimson Guardians, some teal marines and a couple fists. Up tomorrow will be a truescale marine using techniques learned from the legendary Doghouse! So keep yer blue eyes peeled cuz things are going to get..possibly ugly?

You've really been making some interesting stuff lately!
I like the way you posed this guy, although I fear that the arms are still too small for his large body.

These are looking really good Termie. I like the pose on the teal marine and the color! Is that a Kromlech Power Kopesh?
You are really inspiring me to start work on my Marines again!

VERY nice work all around! The only pointers I can give you are A: thin down your paints a tad more, and B: keep at it! Also... That be an Iron Warriors helmet, one I don't have any of. Quit hogging them!

Thanks for the tips, I think i went a bit too thick on the IF and the Teal Marine Also, its not my fault I love those helmets, I had to hire the alpha legion to sneak into GW and take their whole stock
