I love how you have made the parts of the Kroot Armor match the Tau's armor. My biggest problem with Kroot models it they don't fit uniformly into the Tau's high tech look. You have probably got the closest you can without doing a proxy. I am definitely a newbie when it comes to painting, but what I can see here is pretty well painted, and the look of those Kroot will definitely compliment the rest of your army.

I never had the desire to use Kroot in my army unless they were represented by some 'pimped out' Fire Warriors. You have certainly made me consider putting them in with a matching paint scheme.

About my scheme:
i tested my Scheme in the DoW:DC Army Creator and when i was done "coloring" the Firewarior i tested the look ingame, and build some Kroot and was surprised about their look and (thats what you see there).
only bad thing was the look of Shas'O Kais .... he looks horrible in that scheme in Dawn of War^^

Those revamped FWs etc are looking much much better, Che.

I have some of those Dark Eldar slave models too for when I finally get down to doing my Emperor's Children Chaos Marines... :crafty:

okay took two month but here are some new pictures

Shas'o (without head, it just won't stick to his suit)
ImageImage
and here from an other view, he's equiped with an Ion-gun and a combined flamer/shield generator(which actually is a drone as i think the shield generators are to small)
ImageImage

and i only covered him in "boltgun metal" as the "chaos black" is hard to take photos off
i will paint him in "firey orange" later

and another XV8

Image

just wanted to give a short update

You know, even though you did it for ease of picture taking, it's actually a pretty sweet idea. The underlying Boltgun Metal will be exposed on edges and such after playing with the models (unless you seal them), creating natural weathering where it should be. Interesting...

I also like the enlarged Shield Generator. I know it's been thrown around before, but your version just looks more "right" to me. I can't really place any reason on it... Is it just glued on top of the Flamer, or did you use some other method to make it modular? Thanks, and keep up the good work!

thanks a lot :) the boltgun metal will stay completely on the machine parts like the rear part of the legs and such.

uhm i did file down the drones underside a bit (or more a lot) so the Flamer could fit in to make it look like a Combo Shiled/Flamer and not like a shield sticked to a Flamer.

and as the Flamer is over the filed parts, you don't see it, which is good ;)

i will propably get some more XV8's soon, i will document the work on them (even if i might horribly fail on what i am planning) and will show you on those how simple this "Flameshield" is

p.s. just gluing the drone on the flamer would look silly

okay here is how i make my Flameshields:

Step 1:

Get a drone, a Flamer (in this case an Imperial Army one as it was the only flamer i found in my Bitzbox) and an XV8 Arm to mount it on.

Image

Step 2:

File down the underside of the drone so the Flamer fits in smoothly:

Image

Step 3:

glue the Flamer to the drone

Image

Step 4:

glue the flamer/drone to the Arm

Image

Simple but effective

I like the flamer shield combo.
I might just have to steal that idea for one of my upcoming suits.

As i found later on your old look did have way too much color. but your new one is nice. usually if you have many colors you need things that mostly blend. I have two different blues and a black as my main three colors for my sept. The two blues kinda go while the black and darker blue go together. It provides contrast without being garish. (Now i really need to get a WIP in here)

Good job on your minis. and tell your GF that shes a good painter, (i wonder if my GF is going to ever do anything but compliment me on mine) Anyway, look forward to seeing these guys done.

feel free to do so, i got the idea from the Farsight model because i like his shield.

btw the combo could be done with any other weapon but i thought i make the right arm the 'offensive' arm and the left arm the 'defensive', so flamer and shield.

i will tell her, but she still has to do the second slave!

i am going to purchase 3 more suits and will try my best on converting them.

1. leaning towards enemy holding his shield up to cover the "face" from Gunfire and preparing the Burstcannon to fire (i might have to draw it to explain what i mean.

2. a flame blast at an fleeing 'Catachan' as those are the only minis i got loads of to waste in bitzbox

3. 'Propably' pointing with his Weapon at an enemy 'you are next' (or maybe 'you shall not pass)... already have an idea for a SM-Commander Pointing back at him

and thanks for the feedback

edited: idea for 3rd XV8

so i just stumbled over a question about Space Marines, its propably easy but i really don't know as i never played SM and cant contact anyone around me who plays SM so i ask here!

Those corpses they sometimes carry on top of their Dreadnaughts, are they:

1. Killed Enemys (to scare the enemy) thats what i guess and am 99% sure of

2. Dead Space Marine (as a sort of ancestor worship)

as i mostly saw human skelletons ontop of the Dreads and am not sure if i saw other corpses (okay i saw a Nid on a FW Dread)

or is it both? and its just the opinion of the player?

i know its a stupid question but i would like to know that

Usually dead enemies.

Also, good work on the repaint. The army is looking much more coherent and 'army-like' now.

there is a *beep* load of bits in that box ... not sure what exactly to do with the bits.

The plan for him is left hand Energy Claw and right hand will be the 'pointing-hand' of the leader of the SM-Assault Squad.

i wont be able to do something that awesome that Shas'vre Shavaun did, but i will do my best.

the Chapter will propably be Raven Guard

and yes i will take pictures

My Company that i've been working on "Dragon Guard" i'm currently thinking of Changing them to the "Raptors" Raven Guard successor chapter . The Colours that i painted them , would be fine and would only require a little bit of work .
