Yay an update!!! Your army is the inspiration for my own and that includes the Knarloc Riders. These guys look great! What did you use for the platform where the Kroot on the back is mounted? My idea is to have only one rider and just attach the weapons to him in some creative ways. The drone idea sounds pretty good as well!

The platform is a section from on the City of Death Ruin kits. Its a part of a ladder. Ive drilled a hole in the "Tail" or the rider and pinned it to the platform. Then the suport sections are just a bit of plastic tube

Ah, I see. Well I will soon be working on my own Knarloc Rider, so we'll see how it goes! My one thought though is that these guys should be a little more armored. As it stands, they don't look like they could withstand the punishment Crisis Suits can.
I was thinking of using an IG equivalent for a lot of the weapons and either modeling them in the Riders hands or having a weapon or two strapped across their backs. Thoughts?

I had considered adding some extra armour but since Ill also be using these as proper Knarloc riders withing my Kroot Mercs army. So having the extra armour can cause a bit of confusion with that. As it stands all the extra weapons can be removed from the models to turn them back into normal Riders should i wish.
What are you refering to by IG equivalent. As in use knarloc riders as a sentinal or have a Knarloc ridden by a Guardsmen?

Oh sorry, I meant using the IG equivalent on terms of weapons. Like a Fusion Blaster would be a Melta Gun, a Missile Pod as a Missile Launcher, that kind of stuff.
I was thinking of using Space Marine chestplates on my riders and giving them some cool rebreather masks. There was a picture online that I found that describes my idea perfectly... I gotta post it when I get home.

Well that’s what I’ve done to a certain extent with the melta guns on the riders. If done right it should work a treat for you wolf. Looking forward to how yours turn out

Those are really bad ass my friend! If knarlocs weren't so expensive I would buy a few more to convert into broadsides and just regular knarlocs! I also like the crisis suit knarloc riders. My only critique is that they need some gear and or armored plates to represent their 3+ saves, not to mention I like gearing up my models to show their elite status. Well keep up the great work!

Howdy all. Just a little update for today. For quite a while now ive been playing around with the idea of doing a "Kroot Suit" Since frosty has already done the XV8 and XV25 suit conversions. Ive gone down a different path and made myself a Kroot custom battle suit Its still VERY wip. The final version will have a Fusion gun where the plasma rifle is. Im also gonna have some extra thrusters at near the bottom of the feet and he will be in flight. Im also gonna try and have a air birst cannon of some style fitted to it So whats ya think?

I love it! From the jetpack to the arms, I think you really nailed it. If you want to make the weapon attachments a little more natural, why not use a really filled down drone stand thing. You know, that little circle part in the middle? Just file the bottom down where the hole is, until you just have the upper half. That way it can be attached to the arm and still look very technical.
Man, this is such a good idea....now you have me thinking of possibilities!

UPDATE! Ive been working on the 2nd arm, done some more more green stuff and now have shots taken in its "Flight" position. Im thinking if I do do the airburst frag launcher. Its gonna have to be a Back mounted launcher (like shrikes frag grenade launcher) So whats ya think

It's kind of hard to tell it's a weapon. Maybe get 2 more and put them al together in a rack on his back?
Anyways it's looking very nice. For some reason I like the feet more than anything else.

I agree with Jester that it's hard to tell they are weapons and not little fiddly bitz. I definitely think that they need to stay off the arms. You've struck a really nice balance there and I love it. Any more would look cluttered or far too cumbersome.
Maybe if you put them on the center of the back, between the turbines it would look more like an actual weapon. But now you run the risk of the mini becoming way to busy. Maybe if you replaced the Flamer arm with an AFP version and then just slapped a Flamer underneath one of the arms?
If anything, I'd like to see them on the center of the back.
Can you give us a run down of the bitz you used?

Greetings all. YES once again i've come to you with more conversions and NO PAINT . But ive always stated that im more of a converter than a painter, and for the most part the only thing that really motivates me to paint is if im going to attend an event/Tournament with the models in question However I hope i can still provide you with some mild non painted enjoyment SO with Wolfs16's comments that I should armour up my Knarloc rider battle suits, combined with the fact that Im wanting to deconstruct the FW knarloc suits back their stock configuration. Ive built myself a new Knarloc battle suit. This is a Shas'El commander with Missile Pod, Target Lock, Positional Relay and Bonding Knife Its still fairly WIP but you can see how it is going to turn out. Rider for the model came from one of my old "Sniper drone" conversions that you can find in the early posts of the Log. I changed out the rail rifle for a Kroot ox Kroot gun since the stat line is almost identical. The extra Tau Technology accounts for the lighter weight and higher rate of fire The 3+ armour save comes from the scales of the Knarloc and the armour of the rider, I deliberately kept the scales on this guy for that reason. The Positional Relay is a bash of a Guard vox caster as well as some other parts that should be fairly easy to pick out The mount and rider are still not 100%. Ill be adding some Night vision goggles similar to how I did my sniper shaper in my Kroot Mercs army long long ago. Adding more webbing to the saddle and then cleaning up the green stuff, but the basic conversion work is all done. In game This guy always attaches to a Kroot unit with 2 attached Kroot ox so the entire unit should look really thematic on the table. The bonus about using him rather than the FW Knarloc rider model is that he is MUCH easier to hide and move within the unit. The 60mm bases on the Knarloc Riders can be a real pain sometimes As always thoughts and comments are welcome

Yes, I approve! This is a great looking rider, although I really like the bigger mounted Shaper you made before. Don't get me wrong though, this guy is perfect. That backpack is fantastic and I will definitely be stealing that idea! However, I feel like the Kroot Gun may just be a little too long. Maybe you could shorten it and just wrap some green stuff around the barrel to cover it. What do you think?
