By god, I hate doing eyes. God knows how many attempts it took, but I think I've done as much as I can do with them now. Just need to do some more fiddling with the face to smooth a few things out, but that's at least the worst bit (for me) out of the way...

Heck, it would have been pink, but I stupidly thought that that would have been the most common colour to go for...I was rather gutted when someone elsewhere posted up another one in blue too :( . Still, I prefer mine :p

Did a little bit more work on the face last night - very unusual process I'm doing for this figure...actually spending time and patience with it! Hopefully, it'll pay off. At least the difficult stuff on the face is nearly done. Small amounts of work needed on it, and then back onto the blue to get that a bit better.

Still got the damn bunny head and baseball bat to do though!!!

I love the model as wel as the painting. As said, the skin tones are extremely well done :)

Slowly slowly...bits and bobs done, but almost everywhere still needs work.

However, last night I decided to start a bit of work on the base...not sure why it's as it is, but I like it....that and I'm having to ask the question who she's clobbers, and - seemingly - munched on.

I know it's got nothing to do with it, but I keep on seeing Alice in Wonderland. I'm guessing an 18-rated version that exists in my mind. Hmm.

Lol, I love it. To me it seems that clobbering something with that spiked bat would cause a bit more spatter than you see now.

Not a huge amount of work done, but some on the bunny head. Of course, now I'm looking at it and thinking Donnie Darko...Which is kind of on the right lines :p

Well, I haven't got 'round to finishing off Bunny Girl yet...one day!

However, over the last couple of days (ish), I've been splashing on some paint to an Avatar of War Barbarian. Really love the pose, but not entirely taken with the casting itself. However, after a bit of a clean and a prime, it's been great fun to paint. Nearly finished it:

Not especially neat, but there we go.

Thought I was done, but too many folk were moaning about the snake eye being left all white. Usually I go with my own instinct, but on this occasion, I think they were on to something. Anyway, nearly (nearly) finished...

Looks great, the blood effect is a icky touch :D

Having had the displeasure of dealing with nasty reptiles, your instinct was correct.

But I think what you suffered here was a "Hollywood" effect for visual drama ;)

Personally, not a fan of this pose, I like my Barbarians to look like they're on the threshold of laying a major smack down on a bunch of orcs. :D

Gonna work work out for a year, down a gallon of steroids a day, grab me an axe and go hack me up a oversized lizard myself now...Anyone know what they did with the shrink ray on "Honey I shrunk the kids?"

Needless to say, the painting is astounding, the model is someone I'd be scared of even given his size. All in all, this guy has some serious mojo!
As for the bunny girl... I assume she's single, given the psychotic tendencies...have her number?

This was a very, very quick paint job (couple of hours really) on one of my figures. Attending a show tomorrow and it was the only one of my releases which I hadn't had time to do (never enough time to paint these days...oh well, being made redundant in a month or so's time, so I guess there'll be a bit more free time spare :p ).

Hope you like her :)

You know what folks, I always thought I'd come back to Tau eventually :p . I had the sudden urge to do a swamp scene. I also had the urge to cut legs off a figure and have it wading through the murk! Now, I was going to use a Tau firewarrior for the scene, but when I was rummaging through my grey mountain, I couldn't for the life of me find any torsos!

However, I did find an awful lot of Kroot! So, Kroot it is :)

Everything's just 'placed' at the moment - there's obviously a lot of work to do! - so ignore the floating Kroot for now, and the odd metal spikes and everything else. With a bit of luck it'll pan out okay in the end!

Image

Thanks for looking!

Right then, some work on the base. Ignore the transparent 'plinth' (for want of a better word!) - it was painted black, but severe misuse of masking tape caused terrible, terrible things to happen, so thought I'd strip it back completely and work out how to respray it at the end (wish me luck).

Anyhoo, I've been trying out some Araldite glue for a first layer of the swamp. You know - that dual pump stuff which you can buy. To my delight, it works really rather well - much, much better than anything water effects can do in much quicker time. Admittedly, I'd not like to do clear water with it, as it'll bubble something terrible, but for my purposes it's come up fine.

Image

I've been faffing about with gently splashing ink into the mix, as well as very fine shavings of pastels, which give a bit more interest to the green. Not sure you can see any of this (nor much of the shine really), but I'm happy enough so far. After the Kroot is painted and placed, I'll add another layer of the stuff for depth, and a bit more variation. Enjoyable though!

That's quite the scenic base! Just make sure it doesn't drown out the kroot too much.

Well, that last project went the way of the dodo. Memo to self - don't use glues which don't set :p . Lesson learned - will stick to resins and stuff in the future. Far too lazy! Anyway, I bought this figure yesterday - only the second figure I've bought all year. Really like it - fantastically well thought out in the 'put together' stakes...

Image

Cannot tell you what fun he is. Really fun figure, but an absolute wonder from a technical point of view as far as I'm concerned - the way it's been sculpted with total regard for the plastic mould is brilliant. It fits together absolutely perfectly, with very little work to do.

This is a good thing indeed :)

3 hours work so far. I'm a speedy bugger when I'm enjoying it.

As you might be able to tell from the now sporadic nature of this thread, my painting comes in fits and starts. This year I've set myself a not-unreasonable objective of painting at least one figure a month - which I'm really hoping might lead to something a bit more. However, I can't force the painting really so we'll see what happens!

Anyhoo, the good thing is I've actually managed to paint 4 figures in the space of a week or so. They're actually going to form part of the line-up of new (well, new to me at least) figures for the business, but I've really enjoyed painting these up. Hope you like 'em :)
