Hey ATT! Before my painting update, I just want to give you guys an update on the tournament I was in. I had a lot of fun with all the different scenarios, ( as each table was a different one,) and had some very memorable matches! 6 games in 2 days. My record walking out was 1-0-5, lol. Lots of fun for my first ever tournament. Here is a quick run down of my matches; Match 1: Hold the Fort -Attacker: Orks -Defender: Tau (Me! ) -Final Result: Tau Loss - Big margin. -Overview: Had to hold a fort from the Orks who could breach the walls with special breach bombs, or attack an AV 14 main gate. Was a bit of a nail bitter until a solid power claw attack destroyed the gate and the hordes rolled in.... Match 2: The Temple of Doom - Tau Vs. Eldar - Final Result: Tau Loss - Small margin - Overview: Escalation match with an inquisitor team in a temple at the center of the board. Each player receives a secret mission which is either capture, kill, or protect the inquisitor or take the most table quarters. The temple is surrounded by a force field which provides a 3+ invul save with 4 pylons (one in each quarter) which are AV 13 and destroying on lowers the field. My mission was kill, Eldar was table quarters. We each succeeded but I lost in secondary objectives. Match 3: Sandstorm - Tau Vs. Dark Angles - Final Result: Tau Loss - Big margin - Overview: Sandstorm over entire table making weapons fire only accurate up to 12" and 6's required beyond. Also, Vindicare assassin sitting in center which is controlled by winner of dice roll at beginning of each round. No explanation required, couldn't hit and was assaulted by turn 1 with bikes. But I controlled the assassin for 4/5 rounds, so I did mess with those Dark Angels. Match 4: Jippy's Mart - Tau Vs. Tyranids - Final Result: Tau Loss - DEVASTATING - Overview: Escalation match with advance reserves (5+ on first turn), and a shop in center field run by Jippy the Grot. Long story short, nids stoll the initiative, almost everything came in, genestealers out flanked, and well.......I became Bio-mass for the greater good. Match 5: Create retrieval in snow - Tau Vs. Space Marines - Result: Tau Win - Big margin - Overview: 6 scattered crates which must be taken. At the end of the game, roll a D6 for each create and on a roll of 1, the create is too damaged to be worth anything. All the field is covered in deep snow except for the tops of hills. Deep snow is treated as difficult terrain for everything but skimmers and jetbikes. I got 2 creates to his 1, and kill one HQ in the process. Match 6: Pitched battle with friends.... - Tau Vs. Imperial Guard - Result: Tau Loss - Small Margin - Overview: Pitched battle, but there are 6 local subterranean Monstrous creatures which will deep strike on a 4+ and attack the nearest unit (that isn't part of the local variety) Lost in secondary goals. Anyways, I didn't leave empty handed, as I won a door prize! Anyways, onto the model update, my second Knarloc rider is almost done, just a few minor detailing to do. So here he is! Czar Ziggy

Ah ok, The format of 6 games and the fact I played The Crate retrieval (Supply and Command) and the pitched battle with friends (Hammer and Ambil) during Astro Dallas last week end, I thought for a moment you might have been the Tau player that was there

Hey ATT! Finally got my camera working, so here are the shots of my finished Knarloc rider count-as squad. For the next while, my next set of projects will be non-Tau. (Mostly SM, Nid, and Necron) All of these you can see by following the link in my signature to Enemies! Czar ZIggy

Hey ATT! Long time no update. Been working away in my little workshop. While most of my projects are going to be non-Tau for the better part of the summer, there are still a few left to be done and share! Here is one of them, my new XV8 with a custom styled plasma rifle slicing the XV25 burst cannon with the XV8 plasma rifle barrel/tip. Czar Ziggy

Hey ATT! Long time no post. Let me blow the dust off this thread! -("Fwooooom") Any way, starting to get back into working on my Tau again. I'm rather excited with all the rumors of us getting a new book next month! But what really got me back on to working on these guys again is that my local store is having a Kill Team Campaign/ League! (Here is a link to the rules and army lists we will be using; http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.ca/p/ki ... rules.htmlAnd as some of you know, Kill Team is an excellent place to do conversions which is my favorite thing! So, with that, plus some really nice model threads around here recently, my little blue juices are flowing again and I've started working on some recruits for my Tau Kill Team. So here are my first 2 recruits! Both are still WIP; So first up, I'm making a Kroot Shamen to lead the pack. In the rule set for this campaign, the Kroot Shamen is a psyker and a possible HQ choice for a Tau Kill Team. I've used mostly Tyranid parts to give him some flavor! And this is one of the fire warriors for the core group. A lot of inspiration for Li'now's markerlight conversion. Czar Ziggy

Hey Czar Ziggy, Glad to able to inspire – I see that you managed to get the rifle strap to hang correctly downwards (unlike what happened on my original conversion). In return, I am going to borrow the cool looking helmet pushed back towards the nape for a future conversion of mine Tau’va!

Hey ATT, so a little update on my Kill team project. I've got some more painting done and 3 games under my belt for this league. I've also named the group now, Vral Ko'Vash Shi. This roughly translates to undercuts striving for victory. The idea fluff-wise is that the group is lead by a Kroot Shaman named Dok Artool. Great promoter of the greater good, but when the Aun class push the Shas'ar'tol to give him a command of his own, they set him up like the Arbiter in Halo 2. (Basically a bunch of suicide missions where he will hopefully die). His crew is made up of Shas who've failed their trials by fire and have to atone for this by overcoming insurmountable odds. @Li'now - Thanks, glad I could inspire back. The Helmet idea is from someone else on the site, can't remember who, want to say Macknight. I do remember it was done on a sniper drone controller.... Anyways, pictures! All still WIP, but coming along. Also, can't wait until the new book comes out! Czar Ziggy

Hey ATT! So, much like the rest of you, I've also gone and picked up a few of the new models. So far, I've only gotten Darkstrider and today I finally picked up the new Battlesuit commander model. (I'm too broke at the moment to get a riptide ) But any ways, I've finished painting Darkstrider, and of course, I have some WIP shots of the new commander. I've also decided to start making a second cadre color scheme besides my main one. Any ways, here are the pictures! Czar Ziggy

Hey ATT! So a little modeling update, my commander is done! I'll have the pics below. Also, I might have to change my best moment of 40k because of a match I played today. I was playing a 2000 pts match with my new Tau against my friends Guard with Marine Allies and the greatest opening round I have ever had happened at the beginning of my second game. We were playing Big Guns Never Tire with Hammer and Advil deployment. Using my markerlights, stripped the cover off of one of his 2 Leman Russes. Then, my Hammerhead got that lucky shot (From the opposite corner of the board!) I hit on the 4, rolled 6 to get a pen, 6 on the chart, and 6 for the explosion's range! And then the icing on the cake was 4 out of 5 marines getting killed in the blast, (plus a few unlucky guardsmen ). So yea, best moment of new Tau codex so far. Any ways, my army must have felt a little more motivated today because it was my new commander's Trial by Fire as these were his two first battles in my army. edit: I tried to make the shots a little better, but this is probably the extent I can fix them. What do you think about my commander? Czar Ziggy

The pose is sweet, but for the color, think you might have gone a bit too bright. (maybe its a camera issue though)
Also, the box having the same color diminishes a little from the commander himself, perhaps a normal metalic silver would be best.

There are some really fantastic conversions here! Great to see the new Commander kit with a different pose. How I wish they made it a multipart plastic kit! I love the small changes to the Firewarriors and Kroot. Really well done!

Hey ATT! @Wolfe - Thanks! Conversions is why I love ATT, and I like giving back to the community for all the great ideas! Big update, I just got my first Flyer! Now I can do the conversion I wanted to do to try and make it look better, plus I love flyers! Anyways, so a little about the conversion, Project Drop the Rails and Flip the Tail! Just like it sounds, I'm going to drop the two Rails (support things?) and flip the back tail so the wings are angled upward. Another minor cosmetic change is that I am also going to swap the location of the marker light with the missile pod since I like the idea of the missiles being on the front better than the tail. So anyways, here are some WIP shots. I still need to do some green stuff work, but you'll get the idea of what I've done! To cover up the lack of Rail, but keep the little fins by the engine, I cut it off at the wing and then attached a cut down multi-tracker on each one making it look like a little sensor cluster. Also, I changed the crate on my Commander so that there was a little better contrast with his body... So what do you guys think of the changes to the flyer? Czar Ziggy
