Hi mates!

After a long break from the site (with its loose of my password and member login name, that's why i had to start from zero again...) I decided that it was time to share with you some of the models I use in the battlefield. The paintscheme of my force is the classical T'au Sept Pattern with subtles modifications, some of them inspired by the game DoW or by other people's army.

One very important thing to clarify about these models is that, as you will see, are very, if not totally, inspired by Shas'el Tael's work. Thus, the conversion work made on crisis suits copies his work, and so does the paint work on the hammerhead. I want to remark that, cause I don't want to appear as I'm presenting this work as it came from my own talent. Thank you Tael for your inspiration!

So, let's go into the models!

Wow I really like them. You paint with a lovely clean style of painting. Maybe next you could think of your own scheme?

EDIT: Were your Stealthsuits painted with scorched brown, if so can you tell me what you highlighted them with? MY whole tau army is scorched brown but I cant quite find the right highlight and yours look just right :D

Impressive, I actually love the "classic Tau" scheme you have implemented, and use that scheme on my own army as well (somebody has to run those classic looking armies as well :D ). I'm especially impressed with the camouflage pattern on your Piranhas, very inspiring.

I'd love to see more of your models, maybe a DF's or Hamemrhead/Skyray if you have painted one?

Wow those are really nice. That's some nice clean painting. Good work! I like the regular Tau sept scheme. I've gone with something similar on mine too. They look really cool!

Use this code when copying the link...should work.

Those are some very nice models painting in what is considered by some to be a hard scheme, but you have done a great job. The application is very smooth, there are some great subtle conversions on the battlesuits, and the Hammerhead (I just clicked through your Photobucket account, so saw all the models you have up there) looks very good.

DeathSquad's advice should also be followed. Once you get a hang of posting images instead of links, you'll find that many more people will comment (as they don't have to click a bunch of times to see the pictures). Your models will also do well to be seen right away. Good job.

Also, I you have any tips on how you got such a good application of Vomit Brown (or whatever color you used) that would be really helpful to the community as a whole.

Very good paintigs, even if I'm not really fond of the T'au scheme, flat areas are smooth, the black guns are great. To make long story short, it's good.

I have just a little question, on your fireknife squad, you used little "bits" on each side of the chest, and I wonder what they are. It could be anecdotic, but they add a little something on the battlesuits.

Thanks to you all guys for your kind comments!

As you can see, I followed Deathquad's advice, and yea it looks better with the pics added.

El'Myen
These bits you talk about are just pieces of the burst cannon that comes with the crisis suit. Yes, you have to rip it, but i use XV25 burst cannons for crisis, so not a problem at all! Anyway, thanks for your observation.

Actually, the only tip i can tell you about is to water paints. The models have been painted using black basecoat and adding a lot of succesive and very thin hands of paint. It took me aproximately 3 weeks to paint 4 shas'la, so you can imagine! It requieres patiente and calm, but then you can feel proud of the result. Sorry, but there's no magic bullet for that, just watering paints :D

Again thanks you all for commenting and for being so kind on your replies. If you have any doubt, I'll be pleased of answer anything I could. And well, sorry for my english, as you can see, I'm not a native speaker...

I dub thee. Amazing.

I don't understand how you can paint the lenses on the minis! They're so inky dinky. Like, shading and all. That is impressive indeed.

And everything else is nice of course =D

Good to see them all collected with the pictures in the thread, it makes it much easier to notice different things about them. It also makes it easier to comment! I noticed that the Missile Pods were painted in the normal T'au scheme, whereas most of the other weapons are black. Was it an aesthetic choice, or something else? The Deathrains look especially nasty with their double Missile Pods, and that is definitely something I will try once more Missile Pods fall into by Bitz Box.

No problem on the tips. Even thinning paint is a good one, and using many thin coats a better one, especially when over a black undercoat.

This is a really nice army Shas'la. It is a nice offshoot of the main T'au army scheme. Did you use a gloss varnish? The models look a bit shiny... :-?

I'm really liking the bases, and basically everything about them. The stealths are great, same with the firewarriors. I'm REALLY liking your broadsides, the paint scheme is great.

Only critique would be that the lenses on the hammerhead SMS needs work in terms of blending. The individual color layers are very obvious. I would also advise giving them a spray of matte varnish, it is protective and will remove that shine if applied over gloss varnish i'm pretty sure.

Seeing the yellow, the first thing I thought was "They call me the Bus, 'cause I'm gonna take you to SCHOOL." I mean that in the most light-hearted way possible! The yellow take on the T'au sept is great - btw, which sept does your cadre come from?

Your army looks fantastic. I particularly like your Stealth Suits, thought your Piranhas and Shas are just as stellar. Also, your jewels are picture-perfect; I've been skipping out on the second highlight, and now I see how much of a difference it makes.

That is some strong painting indeed. Very bold and proud. Great application! Your modifications are very clean and enjoy your personal take on them a lot.

The firewarriors look solid, particularly admire the strong camouflage scheme. Really good work man, thank for posting the cadre. Enjoyed browsing your photos :)

best!
Tael.

Looks awesome!

I'm not a fan of the codex tan yellow, but your excellent painting makes up for it. I really like the mix in your stealth squad, plus you did a great job of keeping detail in black (which I find difficult).

Very nice looking army.

Is it just me or does that seem a little uncalled for?

Seriously, those are some phenominally painted minis, I would literally kill to have my army look like that (I'm also doing a T'au scheme), and then one of the first comments he gets is "Gee, think you could do your own scheme next time?"

Well anyway...like I said, those are awesome, I would kill to paint that good. How'd you paint the bases?

Hi guys!

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions.

Saint

Yes, it's scorched brown. The highights are a mix of scorched brown and bleached Bone, add more bleached bone in order to get a fairer colour

Spartan Tau

Yes, it's purely aesthetic. While plasma and fusion weapons have little gasps that you can paint as the blue 'energy' of the weapon, the final result is amazingg. But missile pods have not that posibility, and to paint them in black with no contrast make then look like they're primed...

Cire Mont'yr

Thanks for the advise, I'll try my best next time! And no, they have no gloss barnish on them, just in the lenses. I guess the 'glossy' efect is just the camera's fault...

Sidstyler

The bases are painted in scorched brown. The earth on them is just GW modelling sand. I applied brown ink to it and then drybrushed first in bubonic brown and then in bleached bone.

And thanks to the others that have commented ehre. I really apreciate your encouragements!

Seems like a stupid question, but I wanted to do bases just like that for my Tau, but my own efforts resulted in a yellow mess that looks nothing like that. :D

Kaka_u,
Some excellent models. I really like pretty much every one, and it is easy to spot the Tael influences on the modelling aspect of them! :)
I like your fireknifes-great attention to detail when modeling and painting is apparent here. I'm not really sure about all black weapons though. I'd paint a few panels vomit brown (or whatever your base colour should be). Also, your highlight seems a bit strong. Try mixing in your base to the highlight, and you'll get a much more subtle highlight. ;)
Your hammerhead is very well camoed, as are the piranhas. I like the tau script and emblems.
Broadsides- great, although as with your other suits, some VB on railguns would do you good.
FWs- also very good, but same problem as everything else. Lensesare brilliant though! :D
Keep it up, It's great work!

WHY is is that when a, ahem, sub-par army is posted, people are like, "Oh, that's pretty good, here's some things you could improve on." But when an incredible army like this is posted, they just-HOLY FRICK THIS IS AWESOME!! Just had to say it man :D .
