This is some great work, crisp clean and smoothly applied. I can't offer up any major C&C other than possibly finding a way to bring out bare tau skin colour against such a similar hue armor. That could be as much to do with photo lighting anyhow.

You're not slow at all, that's my average speed for a similar amount of models in amongst work and so on. ;)

 This is soooooo goood!!! Very clean, and yet not boring! The stealthsuit is brilliant. Its camoed... but not so much, as it does not fit the overall scheme. This makes me want to paint something myself... mmm.... Cant though... finals...

Excellent job so far!

Thanks for the C&C guys.

@ Matzilla: You bring up a good point regarding the stealth suit. The backpack highlights are very subtle and don't really turn up well in the image but this was done on purpose as I didn't want the backpack to draw attention away from the front of the model. As it is with all the camo blobs and gems the model is pretty busy already and I wouldn't want to make it any busier. Thanks for your input.

@ Shas'El Tael: Yes, I realized the armour and tau skin are a very similar colour so I tried to paint the skin a lighter shade. Might have to make it even lighter now that you mention it.

@ Donpino: Hope you end your finals soon and get to paint more stuff. I've seen your work and would love to see more models from you.

It's been a while since I've last posted, been working full time on my xv-9 which I've converted to be my commander. After almost 20 hours of painting and modelling I'm finally done. The sad part though is that my gf just left for Japan to visit her family leaving me without a camera and unable to share the finished model.I'm going to try my best to get camera but till then I can only share this crappy camera phone picture of the model. :(

Managed to get my hands on a camera, so without further ado here's my XV-9 commander with plasma rifle and missile-pod / AFB.

Before I ordered my XV9 I was constantly looking for size comparisons but couldn't find many so I took a shot with some other Tau models so that you guys can get some reference, hopefully this helps some people.

Also took a group shot with everything I've painted thus far.

ender1610 :
That XV9 looks great! Really fits in with the rest of your force, plus it will make a great centerpiece for your army once you paint up some more models (not like it isn't already a great centerpiece!). Did you happen to magnetize the arms, or will you just be using it as-is if you plan on playing games with it?

Again, great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next!

@SpartanTau: Thanks for the comments, I didn't magnetize the arms because I don't think I'll be using the suit in any other configuration. I do have one more XV9 which I might give a different weapon load-out if necessary.

I somehow managed to mis your awe-inspiring kroot, but the XV9 and stealth suti just blew me from my chair. These are one of the nicest Tau I have ever seen

Great looking army and I love the free handing on the kroot shoulder!

(sigh, iPad turns kroot into kraut... Glad I noticed it)

I saw this link in someone else's post detailing a good paint job on stealthsuits, and I gotta say... WOW.

Your models are, to say the least, brilliant! The color scheme fits, it just does, so well. A lot of schemes I've seen end up too bright, or too droll etc etc, but your colors just seem right. Combine that with your amazing painting skills and it becomes apparent your onto something good here. I've marked this thread for my "watch" folder, so consider yourself having at least one "follower" lol. Stuff like this makes me want to ditch my space marines and take up Tau again.
