This looks promising, I am looking forward to see the progress on this guide.

As a small Idea, maybe you can take a picture of your tools, that would reduce the trouble with finding the names and even the language barrier.

Greetings
-Che

Continuing the Guide!

Image

The tools (thanks for the suggestion, Che)

Step 3:

The elbows

Image

And these are why we use that most specialist and advanced of tools... the Biro. We all know it's impossible to draw a perfect circle, and it's even worse trying to cut one out of clay! The elbow-joint on a crisis suit is about 1/4" across and it just so happens the cap of the Biro matches that. Better still, after using the cap to cut out the whole circle-elbow part, the part of the Biro which fits IN the cap is perfect for pressing the outline of the elbow detail in. Once I've done that, I take my trusty pointy thing and score a line across, much like the real thing.

That oven bake clay look so much like modelling chocolate that i wanted to eat your progress on the suit! It's looks fantastic so far, I hope to see it when it's done.

Just a progress report atm. progress has been a little slow through lack of motivation.
I may continue the guide if there's interest, otherwise I'll stick to posting progress.

Decided to go for a broadside suit this time, and (being cheap) wanted to get two from a single broadside kit. This is also my first try at magnetising a suit. The missile pods are magnetised on the jetpack and there are two magnetised slots on the left arm.

ordered some krooty's on ebay so I'm waiting on those before the suit gets a pilot :P

Feedback always appreciated!

Also, I'm looking for some inspiration on modifying the standard broadside gun to represent some Kroot modifications, the idea being they'd badgered around with a single weapon and made it fire fast enough to work as well as a twin link.

So, continuing the guide:

Note: If buying clay, never ever EVER buy Fimo! It's godawful, sticky horrible evil! Get Sculpey, even if it costs a little more (don't think it even does).

The final progress!

So, overall I kind of like how it turned out! It has a suitably arse-kicked Kroot botched look. In future I'm thinking maybe some orc-style armour plating nailed over various parts. I particularly like the look of having that square-ish armour thing from the kroot sprues over the knee on a suit's leg, something I might go back and apply to my existing suits. It adds a little bulk without going into the 'skateboarder knee pad' territory of using a fire warrior's shoulder.

Unfortunately, this one has to find its way onto ebay, too. It's going live about 8PM BST tonight, but I take some comfort being able to donate 15% of the sale to Battersea dogs home :P I'll throw up a link when it goes online for anyone interested.

Anyway, thanks for looking! Updates to this thread will be slow, if at all, now, as I've started acquiring some WFB units (hence the need to sell this suit!) There's just something so cute about lizardmen.

Check it out here!

Adamaknight that kroot broadside is awesome. You've done a great job on your puddy work. The tutorial is great too. I look forward to seeing it painted.

:O been away a long time

I've been working on a few things, not least of all some warhammer fantasy battles stuff as well as learning to decently photograph my mini's.

Both of which can be seen here on my new painting website, which I've...also been working on :P The gallery shows off all the things which have been occupying my time, including that damn Canis Wolfborn in Finecast >.> never, ever, EVER want to paint another one of those. Ever.

Anyhoo, I've picked up a new crisis suit and broadside suit which I'm going to turn into some shiny new krootsuits to replace all the ones I had to ebay. So, pictures will be forthcoming (and clearer than the previous ones! :P).

As well as building them, though, I'll actually get to paint these, which I'm looking forward too ^.^

Okay so an update on the newest Krootsuit I've got going :D

Aiming for a more 'stripped down' look with the mechanical guts hanging out. Unfortunately that means it doesnt really look like anything yet! :P

The circular disc bits are the shoulders where the arms will attach. The weird wingy bits are to hold the jetpacks, which are similarly stripped down to components. I'll get some more picks up as it progresses :D
