Speaking in jest, we all have techniques for covering up mistakes. Couldn't resist using an old phrase painting buddies of mine had. Put down the wrong colour? "Apply a new scheme and call it your latest army project"

Forget some mold line flash? "You liked the aesthetic of it" and so on.

The humour was lost to the web lacking inflection by text methinks :D

Lol, I feel like a fool... I thought that there was a Gentleman's order or something... A monitor reflects only text, unfortunately...

15 XV25 total, team leaders with magnetized weapons.

I don't know why I spent so much time for these guys, since only in the above named formation they will be fielded. For normal missions elite slots are already occupied.

Maybe because I had them in the boxes for a long time (more than 1 year) or because I am waiting what everybody is waiting... the new codex maybe... A POINT CUT PLEASE!!!! :(

Looking forward to your critisism,

Nikos.

Nice paint job there mate, though I'm pretty sure that if you're night fighting then you don't want to glow in the dark! :P

I may be wrong though. It's been so long since I did any night fighting.

More great work. Particularly like the stippled scuffing effect.

I was wondering why the photo was bothering me though, it wasn't the colours.. then it struck me; this is the largest single collection of Stealthsuits I have seen in one image.

Normally we see the kit ripped to pieces and applied to the latest XV8 conversion project. I think I said once, it was only ever a conversion kit supplement boxed set. :D

Just noticed, what are you using for the physical damage on the armor?

@ Tael

Yes, I think for the moment that it is, a conversion boxed set. Though, my conversion skills are still sleeping...

About your question, you are forcing me to break the first rule of the Order of Gentleman Painters :(
Similar to the glancing hits done at my vehicles, but the pin is smaller. Here it is mounted on a detail brush. I warm it up with a candle.

An update before my Xmas break. 2 more Broadsides added to the Cadre as well as ... a few Gun Drones. I made 17 new ones and repainted 23 to add a bit of coherency in the army. The drones took me a lot of time!!!! About 2 weeks! :dead: The Broadsides where primed yesterday morning, finished painting yesterday evening, based today.

And something I would like to shoutout!!!

The broadsides where models I got from ebay and and as you can see they are made of Forgeworld resin. I stripped the paint with braking fluid and left them over a day in it. As a result the resin turned very elastic like rubber, especially in the thin parts like the railguns and antennas. Furthermore, the resin turned also very brittle resulting into fractures of thinner parts like the ankle ''coverings/screws'' , the frame around helmet's optics and other places.

Soooooo, Forgeworld !resin doesn't like breaking fluid!!!!!!!!

Maybe a solution might be to use the dip for only a few hours.

Happy X-MAS to every Shas'o , Shas'el, Shas'Vre, Shas'ui, ....., Kroot, ...... and everyone!!!!!! :fear:

That is impressive stuff. You have been busy! :D

Being away of Christmas I missed your addition of drones. I have a similar number, and it took me as long to paint them all up too. But seeing a wave of discs of doom rush forth is priceless.

The Sumo pose on the twin plasma suit is great, looks like he is settling in to rain down the hellfire.

Thank you Tael!

Actually I am always busy with my cadre! We have to give forgeworld lovin' back. the whole army is growing a lot! I think I should upload a group photo... :fear:

About the Broadsides, the poses are not mine, since models were bought from ebay and I had only stripped the paint off. :P

Just curious, what was the reason for naming them "hoplite" which is an ancient greek defensive formation?

Thank you for the comment R'alai!

Hoplite means bearer of a shield. They were used on the offensive with similar efficiency as on the defence. The hoplite formation was an extremely coherent, agile, spiky shieldwall! :fear:

The reason I chose this name is that the Hoplites are my favorite historical military unit.

I particularly like your weathering effects.

I find your choice of pink for the stealth suits odd, though not unpleasing to the eye.

Also, didn't hoplite formations fight in a clockwise whirl until one had ground another into the dirt? Something about their shields being on the left so they would side step to try and find openings in each other's lines. Thus bringing about the tradition of having the most skilled soldiers on the 'weak flank' to try and counter this? Don't remember exactly.

Hoplites were my favorite unit in 'Rome: Total War' Yay Greece!

Same Here!

IIRC they were ponderous, but deadly if you got close (e.g. thermopolae) Also, I did not know the exact meaning! thanks!

Thank you Nevar and R'alai!

Though, about the Stealthsuits, it is the intense lighting I have and the poor camera I use which distort the colours a bit. The helmets were painted with Liche Purple then Warlock and then Warlock + Bleached Bone. In real life looks more purple.

On the Hoplites, the shield that a man carried had to cover the man who stood on his left. This fact made the right flank more vulnerable, a drawback which was dealt by placing the more experienced men on the right. They did not change potitions in the formation during battle since the men at the back were pushing with their shields the men of the of the front rows. Many casualties the Hoplite phalanx caused were from enemy being stepped over by the forward moving formation, fact which shows how important was coherency.

Finally, you can not imagine how much time I have spent in my life playing Total War! And the armoured hoplites were one of the best infantry of the game!!!

Thank you SEGA!!! :P

Im in love with your weathering work. Just cant get over how cool it all looks when its done.

Have a question. How do tetras scale up when compared to the Piranah or for example a Dark eldar jet bike? Ive always been curious since they seem a fairly small but its always hard to tell.

Thank you Turbo-MMX!

About the scaling problem I will post a photo of the whole army during the weekend and this will help with your question about the size of the Tetras.

More Broadsides!!!!!!
