Um since consensus is split between red and blue in fluff, and normally its done as either, but I think bluish purple looks best for blood. It'll look better then blue spatter with your blue fatigues.

I don't think it actually says anywhere what the colour of their blood is so you can wild!

An article on tauonline stating how and why tau blood is blue .

While blue blood makes sense, on a light blue/grey scheme it could get lost in the rest of the colours. Might look great too, but sometimes the red blood is better from an aesthetic viewpoint (since anyone can say "hey, red means blood")

Like the scheme on the drones and warriors Joek (camouflage! love it!), the bases match your scheme perfectly too!. Will you be doing anything special for your XV8s, conversion/basing-wise?

Gotta ask as well, where did you get the yellow-y grass? I've been searching for that exact type for a long time. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

I think that a nice shade of red could be good, don't make it match the color of your lenses though...make it brighter, like a Ferrari(simile!)

Well, the model all went a bit pear-shaped - I rushed it far too much (I was getting all too eager to paint it up!), and in the end I wasn't happy with it, so I chucked it out. Won't be hard to do another one like that though - I do like the idea of having a few guys a bit shot up!

I'm certainly going to try to do something nice for the bases, and attempt to get the XV8s into some sort of dynamic pose - but at the moment I only have one of these guys to hack up, so I want to slow it down and be careful! Easier said than done - when I get the painting bug, everything else kind of gets forgotten about ;)

I now get all my basing material from http://www.barrule.com/workshop/products-basepacks.html - I just picked up the basepack, which had absolutely loads of little packs of stuff, and the 'winter grass' was in there. I've now ordered from them a few times and they've not let me down yet! I recommend the big bags of cork boulders - fantastic!

Now I'm not sure about this idea. I kind of liked the camo on my drones, and thought it might be fun to do a Stealth unit in the same sort of thing.

Now bear in mind that only the pattern has been done (no highlights at all yet)...

The face is possibly going to be all black (obv. the lens' will be coloured!).

Think I should carry on the experiment?

Bit of an update - started the highlights etc on the legs.

Slow old process, and I'm not at all happy with the 'gem' on the boot. Might get rid of it completely. We'll see...

It's looking great but the "gem" does look a little out of place.

Maybe a blue or green gem instead of the red - just so it doesn't 'leap' off the model so much. The camo's looking great though!

This is looking most awesome, good move with taking out the red gem and replacing it with a metal bolt, looks much better. I'm especially liking the detail on the burst cannon.

Yeah the metal looks much better now. I am loving the red effects in the gun ports though. Looks really menacing! :fear:

Last image before I finish I reckon. Have to wait for a bit of GS to dry and that left arm. Argh...want to carry on!

Image

What this has told me is that I just cannot do more than one figure at a time - something that doesn't bode well for completing an army...Still, you have to paint how it feels right to you, so I'll just have to carry on regardless!
