It does look awesome, you should be proud of your self man. A five man squad of them will look great!

Okay then. So I've stopped painting the Tau pathfinders - the figures are bloody useless, and I lost all inspiration on them.

So, onto the next project! Still for the Tau, I'm starting to piece together some odd race...slightly blurry shots follow!

Bear in mind that it is very, very early on - as we speak I have to wait for the sodding green stuff to dry more so I can carry on. Whatever the I'm going to call it, it's basically a Dryad head, and legs, with a Tau torso - which is just about right proportion-wise. The way the Dryads are moulded, they look fairly icy looking, so should go well with the colour scheme of the troops!

Interesting use of the Dryad parts there - Never thought of them myself :P I look forward to seeing the results of this...

Joek-
Some excellent work is beginning to pop up very frequently in this thread, I've been following for a while now and I've been noticing outstanding minis becoming ever more common here. The XV25 is fantastic, like how you've highlighted individual camo patches as well as the whole model- very effective! :crafty:
As for the auxiliary conversion, it's interesting in a good way! I'll be watching for updates! :)
It's a daemonnette, isn't it? Quite a strange mini for a tau soldier, but still quite valid. ;)
Keep it up, looking forward to seeing the aux. painted!!

Thanks for the comments, but it's actually bits from a WFB Dryad. The faces are really rather nice on them! Not completely sure how it's going to turn out at the moment - can't actually do anything more on it until everything sets a bit more - my patience is starting to wear thin ;)

Joek, I would just like to say that I don't often read through entire WIP threads, but this was one of exceptional quality. Your work, your enthusiasm for what you were doing, the results, the photography and everything else commanded my attention.

A very very fine example of "How to succeed at ATT" in action. Congratulations.

E.

:) Many thanks for the kind words!

I've made first steps working out a colour for my alien things. It always takes me ages to decide on a colour...I think I'm moving in the right direction for these guys, although it needs (obviously!) a lot more work...

I think you've made a good choice for the colour on the Alien thing. If your stealth suit is an example of your army's scheme, the blues and the purples will sit nicely next to each other.

Spent a quick 30 minutes just now starting to do a bit more work on the DryTau (as I think he should now be known...)

Image

Slowly getting there - a good few more hours on this one I think. Keep on having to rein myself in though - already the ribbon things have gone through about 4 different coatings to get something I'm at least slightly happy with - still not there yet with that bit though.

It looks a lot better with highlights, as it should. Also.... Nice name for it. Drytau FTW? :D

Little bit more work done - started working on the head a bit, but only very early on that one yet - just wanted to make sure I put on a colour I liked. Which I do...I think.

Looking good man. Have you thought about any game stats for them yet?

Well, I'm no gamer I'm afraid, but as it stands they could either be bunged in as auxillaries or simply as a substitute for Fire warriers I suppose!

Amazing idea! Using those dryads as aux's! Look a lot cooler than kroot! And look nice and icey! Hope you get what I mean. Those creatures look like they can live on a cold planet.

Stealthsuit is amazing as well! I hoped I came up with an ice scheme like yours! Looks very realistic!

Okay, bit more of an update - I'm starting to be fairly pleased with the face now!

Image

Of course, what the photos now draw my attention to is that more work is needed on the blue 'dress' (because I'm really not sure what it is!). And I need to start working on the remaining arm - it's been base-coated, but now need more (and a suitable position on the main body!).
