Hello all.

Yet another too much time on my hands theory put into practice.

I only have one Pirhana at the moment, so it's used as a rapid-attack tank-hunter/seeker missile platform.

The standard model, for me, doesn't look aggressive enough. In fact it feels very Halo-like. Not a bad thing but doesn't quite fit in with the Tau look I like.

So using some glue and green stuff, I've made this - the Caribe (the Venezuelen name for a Pirhana).

At the moment, stats et al are unchanged, but it fills the visual slot in my army for a dangerous-looking anti-armour flyer.

I gotta be honest, whilst I LOVE the work, and in no way fault it as it looks sweet and clean, well built and thought out, I reckin this screams Tetra....

I don't know what it is, but the smaller frontal profile and the array on the back just make me think Tetra as soon as I look at it...

But great work none the less.

Yes... tetra.
However I think the simple yet effective conversion works better than anything I've ever made... can't wait to see it painted.

Here she is with basic paint applied. I'll do some highlighting and weather-damage later.

This looks great! It's so good I am going to steal it :P for my Tetras.

Yeah, sorry have to agree with the others, it looks more like the Tetra SHOULD look as opposed to the POS that Forgeworld make.

Great conversion though, really nice work.

If I said 'Colonial Viper' would anyone else see what I mean...
I definitely wouldn't immediately think Battlestar Galactica... - ST

Its got that same hard-as but sleek look to it.

Formidable even...

It's good but the fire warriors inside look like they are part of the vehicle at first glance. You would have done better with a slightly darker shade of red for them.

Certainly, I think you're right. I'll be doing the fabric on their uniforms in black and I'll darken them with a wash.

Glad everyone likes, I shall continute to butcher more expensive models in the name of ATT!

I think you made very effective use of the XV25 objective-marker-or-whatever-it-is on the rear - it definitely adds to the model and you've integrated it nicely - it doesn't look like just another piece stuck on. (That little guy also has to be my favorite conversion bit.) Would love to see the finished product when you're done with the painting.

Sorry to go OT, but am I the only one who actually *likes* the FW Tetra?

Excuse the OT continuation but...

...I love the idea of the Tetra, and have no issue with it being 2 man.

I just feel the FW Tetra looks too lumpy and too unlike the Piranha.

But I like building all my stuff to look as if its all based arounf a few set chassis - ala STCs for the Imperium almost - same heads for XV8s, XV88s and Shas'Els/'Os etc.

Everyone knows vipers only have 1 pilot! it's a raptor :D

Miracle fish!!! why couldn't you have made this before I made MY piranha's. Now if i shamelessly steal this they won't match my squadron. :)

Aha! Follower of Farsight!
extended family + Christmas = lots of presents
so I am sure to gain a Pirahna along the way and I have the spare Stealth objective-thing, so I shall shamelessly steal this idea!
*makes sure Miraclefish didn't hear*
Ah, now Miraclefish, consider your idea borrowed!

Very nice work Miraclefish, well done! While I won't be borrowing it anytime soon since I just put together my first 2 standard Piranha's this weekend (hooray for the price drop!), I'll keep it in mind for a squadron leader or a monat down the road. My favourite part is the greater rotation for the front turret - It looks like you've achieved about 270 degrees arc of fire there, or at least 180. That is something I noticed first off in assembling the standard Piranha and I am worried that in using them I won't be able to position them to both keep my arc in the enemy's rear armour and keep my stronger front armour facing the greatest threat, a situation that you have nicely solved.

But I do have to confess that I too am quite a fan of the FW tetra...

Here's some painted pics - with the appropriate black helmets for vehicle crew (in my Sept, that is) and some weathering and line filling.

Took it to a GW store today, they were quite nice about it! Rock on!

Very sweet conversion! This actually makes me want to pick up some piranha kits to start working with. Great work! :)

I'd like to thank everyone for their nice words. But you're giving me far too much credit. It's just a bit of repositioning and Green Stuff!

Ah, but it's very good repositioning and green stuff. :)
Good conversion and nice paintjob too, but as has been previously said...Tetra.
You've achieved the aggressive look, and the red paint further conveys this touch.
Like to see more models from you!

That's a very nice retooling of the existing parts.

It actually looks more Eldar than Tau now. Like a fatter jetbike.
