Hello all.

I have started building a Tau Army based on the Trade Federation Droid Army from Star Wars Episodes I-III (and Clone Wars)
All bits are GW except the pingpong ball used for the Droidekas.
The paint scheme will be based on the one of the movies aswell.

This is what I have untill now:

Fire Warriors and a Crisis suit.

Stealth suits

Hammerhead

Heavy Gun Drone w burstcannon and markerlight.

Comments and feedback is most welcome.

AWESOME!

I am a great StarWars fan. And you really catched the look of the Droid army. And the combination of Necron- and Eldar-Parts really fit perfectly.
The Hammerhead is great - They are called also ATT - Attack-T...-Tank, if I only could remember.

You can make a Hailfire (I think it was called like that), this Droid missile-tank with those big wheeles, count as Skyray.

Great work so far! Keep it up!
Can't wait to some minis painted.

Wow, incredible work!

I love the STAP stealth suits. That Droideka is pretty sweet also.

My only complaints are that the rightmost Super Battle Droid/Broadside Battlesuit is a bit too rigid.

I can't wait to see more!

Awesome! I absolutley love this army! You have really captured the look of their Star Wars counterparts. Mind telling us what bits you used for each of these bad boys?

These are just great man, to second what everyone else has been saying. Such great unmistakable conversions with GW bits. The droid Dakar is by far my favourite. Keep up the good work.

edit: I have to add that episodes 1-3 are horrid, sadly there's not much you can copy from the good movies save for some storm troopers :( You've done great with these conversions though!

I really like your interpretation of these "sonic the hedgehog"-like moving fighter bots(sry I don't know the Star Wars Universe that well) in the middle of picture #1.

The heavy gun-drone on the last pic remind me pretty much of a frog with guns :P

€dit:
A Tau Manta would perfectly fit into that:

but it's a litte.... öhm... "expensive".

 Very impressing!!
Although I like the Star Wars fluff, I do not like the new Episodes I-III, so I had to google a little bit to see the original Star Wars Federation bots. I must say, that they look very similar to yours. Especially the B2 droid ... the Wraithlord-parts fit perfectly.
Keep it up

Truly amazing! I second everything everyone else says.
I am so gonna do a second army themed on Star Wars. Either Eldar or Necrons, methinks. Maybe I'll do a Clones army with Eldar- Striking Scorpions'd make awesome Jedi.
I especially would love to see your opponents' face if you had a Star Wars Manta. I wouldn't convert it though, for fear of messing up a £900 model!
I think someone else did a Tau Clone army. It'd be cool to see you two play.

EDIT: I thought those Droid tanks were AAT's- Advance Attack Tanks. Not sure about the full name but I'm a real Star Wars geek and I'm pretty sure they're AAT's.
EDIT2: Aah, they're Armoured Assault Tanks! Linky

Wonderful work! The droid AAT tank is my favorite vehicle from any of the 6 movies.

The one thing that catches my eye is the helmets of the firewarriors. I know it's hard to convert anything to look like this:
Image

Have you tried flipping the firewarrior helmet 180 degrees to try to get that downward sloped droid head? Just an idea that occured to me. Again, fantastic work!

LOL! :P That is SO COOL! For the greater good, we shall produce a robotic army! Now, if only the Fire Cadre would approve and stop using them as target practice! :fear:

I have a friend who also keeps saying that I should try this.
So I gues I'll have to try it now.

I have remade a head for my basic Droids as suggested. Now I just have 50 more to remake...

And a question.
What is the policy about adding pictures to a log?
I think it is best to edit the first post, but also add at the bottom, if the tread is more than one page.

Those look way better with the helmet reversed and filed down. Sorry you have to do 50 :) As for your project log, I think you'll find everyone handles it differently. I usually post the updated/new photos in a new post, while also updating the original. Other people spread them out and change their thread title to direct others to the appropriate page.
