I think you've got it backwards. We're turning Tau and Necrons into droids, not droids and IG into Tau. Great conversions though.

Yeah I know, but you have to admit that that link falls into a very close category, being that it involves a Droid-Tau tank conversion. In case you wanted justification

I have almost completed a unit of Battle Droids. I have no clue as how to do squad-markings, but I want it to be discreet, since I want them all to look the same. Maybe some binary code (3 digits) on the weapon or some coloured dot on their back. I also have to decide on their bases, if they should be mostly green as in the battle against the Gungans (Jar-Jar) or reddish sand as in the gladiatorial arena in episode II.

These look great! I'm excited to see everyone else painted.
As for the base, are you going to include your conversions of some of the arena animals you mentioned in an earlier post? If you are, then go with the red sand. If not, then go green.

Looking good mate, as per your question though, I'd have to go with the green simply because it's more likely to fit in with most gaming boards so the green would blend the models in more. However the red would be more interesting and make your models stand out a little more for being different.

From what i can remember from the starwars movies is that droids do have something like a backpack, don't know and couldn't tell it from your pictures but do the droid models have backpacks? After looking again, i saw the pathfinders have backpacks and some droids have the tank driver torso, do they all have that torso?

If you were looking for a fluffy base theme, green would work better. The droids on Geonosis were pink not white. For squad markings, each droid has a number on their back. Maybe you could get transfers or even try some freehand for these numbers?

My regular droids don't have any backpacks. I choose not to use the backpack sinse I wanted a sleeker look. The Shas'ui is the one with yellow head and chest marking. He has the tank commander torso.
I will have to look up the numbers on their backs in the movies. It seems like a good idea.

I have finished my Ethereal Viceroy Gunray and I will post a picture tomorrow when I get to my camera. Untill then I have a problem that I would like your help to solve. My General Grievous is supposed to be played as both a normal Shas' and as Farsight. When he is Farsight he needs a fancy lightsabre. Where and how should I put his sabre? Maybe interchangeable arm with magnetized joint. But how should he hold it and how should he be posed?

Doesn't general grievous have 4 arms? I would imagine he would hold the lightsaber in his other left one, either thrusting it forward, or slicing along the ground. Maybe having his other right arm hold a deactivated lightsaber would balance the model.

That Ethereal looks great. What did you use for the head? I've always thought that those Trade Federation guys really looked like Tau to begin with!
As for the good General, I think having him holding out the Lightsaber in his left arm, held back at a higher angle, like it is about to slash would really look cool. It would make it look like he is about strike after he does a quick strafing run.

The Ethereal's head is the head from the tank commander with some GS-work.
About the general, I'm about to just put a lightsaber at his hip. I want to be able to use him as both Farsight and a Shas' and I'm worried I might ruin the model with to heavy alternations now. This would be the biggest wysiwyg-break in the army, but I think it would be the most safe solution.

Great Etheral! Really good pose and GS-work. For the Genereal, an alternitive magnetized arm would be the greatest solution. But if you say it's to dangerous, because of breaking the model. Then do the lightsaber on his hip. Maybe you can make a blister of 4 sabres that can be attached with a magnet. Or just glue them. 4, to be better recognised. A lightsabre handle compared to it's owner is pretty small. If your opponet should act like a kiddy saying "I can't see it, so it doesn't count", leave him alone. Players acting like that are nogood. And playing it as Farsight or normal Shas' is a great difference so you probably won't forget what is what. Looking forward on more progress on these Greetings
