Wow, I can't believe how long you went without replies. You must have left people speechless.

Awesome stuff! I've started Design a Subsector threads before, just for kicks, like the one foundhere. This, though, is a good deal more impressive. I might have to give something like this a shot myself.

Thanks Arkion for your comments. :)

I had a look through your post, and it too is very good indeed, I consentrate more on setting the scene of the environment of Tau'shan. I'd love to go more into detail on all the planets, but at present i've been abit too busy to get down to writting anymore. I hope to change this situation sooner rather than later.

Oh and if you need a hand, just pm me , i'm always happy to help. :nice:

I thought that I would add a brief Tutorial for painting Tau'shan Battledress. It's pretty easy to paint ( which I like  ) but it does look pretty good once finished aswell as fairly Realistic looking.

Tutorial
How to paint the Tau'shan Battledress
Image

I started off by spraying the mini's with chaos black as a undercoat, when dried i used my airbrush to basecoat them all with Denab stone.
Image

Afterwards i'd check the coverage of the models, you don't have to worry too much aslong as the Hard Armour is covered that is the main thing, so you may just want to give the Armour a light going over.

Soft Armour was given a coat of Tau sept Ochre. Remember that you should never go over the top with the paint, using flat brushes of various size's is what i find useful with foundation paints. I dab the tip of the flatbrush before removing any excess back into the pot, before lightly coating the armour, continue brushing till all the paint is gone from the brush, kind of like a Wet drybrushing. The Hoaves can be painted however you wished, I used Granite as a base which after you wash the mini you can drybrush it with some lighter tones of your choosing. :nice:

Do not worry if it isn't perfectly covered it's all part of the technique. Now you have to wash the mini using Gryphone Serpia. Let the wash seep into all the gaps and crevice's , it will give it a good bit of shading for the recess's in the Soft and Hard Armour sections.

Once dry, you can Drybrush over the hard armour lightly at first with Denab Stone, then on the soft armour with Tau sept ochre which will leave the recess's darkend by the wash.

Image
Image
Image

Straping was painted with Scorched Brown and the Pulse Rifle/Carbine barrel section is done in the same way as the hard armour, the butt of the weapon i used 75% matt black/25% Codex Grey. Eye piece's was done with Blood Red and Scorpion green and the Tau'shan sept colour is Fenris Grey which all the markings are done with. The Shoulder Pad banding was Denab stone and 2 strips of Fenris Grey as a border.

I hope this helps out

Here is a little piece that i've added to the history of Tau'shan about Wolf16's cadre.

Ma'jaro and the 16th Sa'cea Shas'ar'tol Advanced Recon Cadre

Currently Ma'Jaro is home to the 16th Sa'cea Shas'ar'tol Advanced Recon Cadre, under the wise and determined leadership of Shas'El Sa'cea Ro’Yon Mon'tyr Lar’shi. They came to Tau'shan after heavy fighting during the Battle of Ge'nesha against the Tyranids. The 16th ARC have become experts in the combating of this most deadly of adversary, and after resupplying for material and personnel on Sa'cea the 16th recieved orders to head out to the Tau'shan gateway system.
The 16th was to assist the Tau'shan military in learning counter Tyranid strategies and tactics for it's conventional force's aswell as to establish a Shas ar Tol training facility upon Ma'jaro.
Unfotunatly after a few setbacks in schedualing of the construction of the facilities and the lack of contact from the Tau'shan Shas Ar Tol, which was still in transition between the outgoing Shas O and the newly promoted Shas O, Commander Brokensword.
Lar’shi who didn't approve of the lack of support that he was recieving from the Tau'shan Military, so he met with Brokensword, and exchanged his own views on how the Sept should be run.
He was too long in the tooth to be pushed around, for he had earned his way to his position as El through sheer singleminded determination and brutal hard fought battles. To him this Brokensword was a mere La in his grissled eyes, and took an dislike to him as Brokensword had only fought in half the number of battles that he had.
Lar'shi still gives out his piece of mind on a regular basis, and although he thinks that no one really listens to him, Brokensword always does.

To him this Brokensword was a mere La in his grissled eyes, and took an dislike to him as Brokensword had only fought in half the number of battles that he had.
Lar'shi still gives out his piece of mind on a regular basis, and although he thinks that no one really listens to him, Brokensword always does.
Although Brokensword may not have the have half the skill as a warrior such as Lar’shi, he is however a strategist beyond compare, aswell as a superb battlefield commander, on more than one occassion his tactical accumen has won the day. However during the Battle of Fenras sey he earned the ire of Lar'shi when he deployed the veteran El''s cadre to the rear of the Tau force's formation. Lar'shi as normal let his feelings known to Brokensword, who in turn, calmly and respectfully reminded the El as to who was in command.
It turned out to be the Tau force's saving grace, for as the Tau forces engaged the Gue'la , the Imperials deployed a large Stormtrooper force to the rear of the right flank, right where Lar'shi and the 16th ARC where in position. If it was any other Cadre that was there, they surely would have folded under the intense fighting. Lar'shi and the 16th ARC held firm although heavily outnumbered, but they were taking a pounding and were being pushed back towards the Tau deployment zone. Just as the 16th reached the outer markers the trap was sprung with elements of the 337th and 1st Tau'shan Tactical assault cadres enveloping the Gue'la from the rear of their advance and the 257th Vior'la Rapid redeployment cadre reinforcing the stalwart 16th in their defence. The Stormtrooper force was anniallated before the awesome firepower of the four Tau cadres. After this short and dicisive action the Tau went on to take Fenras sey.

After the engagement Lar'shi went to meet with Brokensword Walking upto the O and switching to command channel he communicated with him. " You used me and my cadre as bait! without even telling me, I may not see eye to eye with you Brokensword, but this is more than insulting " . Brokenswords calm voice came back at him " I put you where I need you the most, for the Greater Good. I needed someone to protect that flank, as I knew it would be a inviting target to the enemy, so I needed the best at my disposal to hold that position until the trap could be sprung. I only explain my decision to you out of respect for you and your cadre, you may not like me as a commander but you are like me in as much as if we're given a task, we see that it's done. "
With this Brokensword nods in respect to the veteran and makes his way back to the command node.

Lar'shi watched as the O head off, thinking to himself " It may be against my better judgement, but i'm actually begining to like this O" turning to walk the opposite direction, back towards his cadre.

Nice to see the update Brokensword! I like how you have portrayed my Shas'El; you have captured his self-importance, but also showed that he has the skills to back that up.

I think that Brokensword just may be the good influence that Lar'shi needs. :D

Here is Eigle's little piece of History, which may have some more added to it. I was shocked to find that the original post is limited to 60000 characters !!!!

Karashi Lissera

During the early days of the Alo'rrayanoi campaign, Tau'shan welcomed many newly formed Tau Ka'vaal from all over the empire on there journeys outbound into imperial space. Aswell as these intrepid voyagers that where to take the Tau'va to those less fortunate and enlightend, Tau'shan also started to recieve refugees and displaced Tau units, one particularly large group where that of the Karashi Lissera. The exiled union as they were known, hailed originally from the Tio've from the V'issel system. They had been at the brunt of a sustained assault upon the system by Imperial force's with Tio've being the battlefield for many hard fought battles. The Tio've force's under command of Shas O Shi'el Ores Montyr fought long and hard, adapting their battle style to adjust to the ferocity of the Gue'la. Even though there wasn't any Astartes amongst the Imperials, they did have large formations of Stormtrooper regiment, that marauded along the Tau battle line.
Eventually the Imperial Navy held the high ground of space, and proceeded to bombard Tio've remorsesly, Shi'el knew now that time was running out and she had to do something to save the civilian populace of Tio've.
Shas O Shi'el ordered that all civilian centres to be evacuated and with what ships where available to ferry the civilians to the Gas mining stations in orbit of V'isel sha. From there the remnants of the Tio've Kor'vettra would tow a number of interplanetary tanker craft through the warp utilizing the warships grav hooks.
As the evacuations took place, the Tio've forces where relentless in their defence of the retreat. Shas O Shi'el was wounded a number of times during disruption operations against the imperials in the effort to slow their advance upon them. The Fire caste of Tio've fought continusley slowing the imperials, delaying the ineffable. Thousands died in the final weeks to add to the many hundreds of thousands that had died since the start of the assault. Most of the Tio've high command had been lost, only Shas O Shi'el and the last Ethereal Aun Kovash Vre were left out of the Tio've Shas Ar Tol. But for not for Shas O Shi'el and her plan many more would've perished in the slaughter. No quarter was asked, and none was given, as these Gue'la revelled in the spilling of blood of the innocent, for honour and compassion was not a words that these gue'la were familiar with.

The Bombardments continued daily and relentlessly , and the Tau were all but surrounded. A number of cadres had returned to the debarcation point with only a handful of survivors as the Imperials were ambushing them before then chasing them down like rabid dogs , Shas O Shi'el knew that they couldn't save anymore of the civilians still trying to make their way to the rendezvous point, Kovash Vre placed a bloodied hand on her shoulder, "you have done all that you could, and you have saved many from these animals, it is time that we make our retreat in order to save those waiting for salvation" .

Shas O Shi'el knew that the Aun was right, but she felt shame for she thought that she had failed the millions that had lived in peace on Tio've only a few kai'rotaa ago. She ordered the withdrawal of the Shas and Kor but not before sending out stealth teams to sabotage the main power relay stations, as the last Manta lifted up off the surface of Tio've mass explosions could be seen raging across the surface of Tio've.
The devastation of the weeks of Bombardment coupled with the destruction of the power stations was too much for this once beautiful of planets, a chain reaction had begun and the planet began to tear itself apart. Tectonic plates shifted, and had began spliting through massive earthquakes racking the surface, slowly at first then it gathered at pace, Tio've started to break apart.
By the time that Shas O Shi'el and the last of the Tau cadres arrived at V'isel sha Tio've had been completely destroyed. The Tau were in numb silence, tears welled in the eyes of those that had survived, and as Shi'el entered the command deck of the Shas'Kor Ra'za one voice asked the question that everyone wanted to know the answer to, "Where do we go Shas O? " With tears stinging her eye's Shi'el looked up defiantly, and said "Tau'shan... We go to Tau'shan. Looking over towards the communications officer, I want to make a ship wide address . Standing at the comm Shi'el takes one last look at Tio've before begining to speak . Our Home is no more, we are exiled, but we shall be strong for those that are not here, and those that gave their lives for the Greater Good, to save us so that we can live on in peace and unity, to teach the bitter lesson's we have learned to others, so they can see the strength of our peoples sacrifice, lest not forget the terrible price we have all had to pay, Tio've is no more, we are now to be known as " Karashi Lissera... we are the exiled union.

*between mouthfuls of shrimptails*

Excellent write-up, Brokensword. Many thanks for this, as it will give me a stronger basis on which to work further with my Black Ops unit within the Ka'rashi Lissera under the command of Shas'O Dak'e'shi.

Yes I was going to continue with some more for this piece, I just wanted to get this "part one" out onto the post, as I don't like to hold back on stuff.
I'm glad that you like it, i'll get on to the second part as and when I can, part one has laid the foundations for what you want to do with Shas'O Dak'e'shi. :nice:

My pleasure my friend, I will be adding to the fluff, it's just I got a bee in my bonnet over Eigle's idea, and I had to get it down. I really like your concept for the ARC, and as I've mentioned before that Tau'shan definitely has the facilities for your cadre to operate out of. :nice:

Thanks to Sting52jb, for this little piece on his Cadre Commanders background, to be added to the History of the Tau'shan Sept

Shas’O Cal’da - Commander Hard Darkness

Shas’O Cal’da began his career as a Fire Warrior under Commander R'myr’s on Taros. During the fighting that took place there Cal’da quickly proved his worth as a seasoned trooper and lead his team of Fire Warriors to many victories against the Gue’la when the Battle of Taros ended Cal’da had been promoted to a Shas’ui and was commended by the Shas’O R’myr’s, for high leadership skills and possessing "superb ability."
Shortly after the end of the Taros Campaign, Cal’da found himself transferred to Tau'shan as part of their newly formed Coalition. He found himself assigned to the 1st Tau'shan Tactical Assault Cadre under the command of Shas’El Lei'nad o'ros'zi. It wasn’t long after his inclusion in the 1st Tau’shan Tactical Assault Cadre that the Raptors space marine company were able to land their drop pods on Tau’shan. Through out the battle of Tau’shan, Cal’da again preformed admirably coming to the personal attention of Shas’El Lei’nad o’ros’zi on multiple occasions, who then became taken by Cal’da’s ability . Before the bloody fighting on Tau’shan was over Cal’da had become a veteran XV-8 Battle Suit Shas’vre and a determined tank hunter. He took tremendous joy in seeing Imperil Armor reduced to Scrap Iron.
While serving in the 1st Tau’shan Tactical Assault Cadre, Cal’da’s XV-8 team was attached to the 27th Sah’iro Rapid Force Reconnaissance Cadre under the command of Shas’El Brathu’angau. During his time attached to the 27th Rapid Force Reconnaissance Cadre Shas’vre Cal’da team was able to field the experimental XV-9 Hazard Suit’s. Shas’vre Cal’da gained a reputation for great courage, making quick tactical decisions and taking advantage of enemy confusion while field the experimental suits. He helped develop much of the tactical doctrine for XV-9’s used through out the Tau Empire during this time.
When Shas’vre Cal’da was detached from the 27th Rapid Force Reconnaissance Cadre he was one of the highest ranking members of the 1st Tau’shan Tactical Assault Cadre and a well know veteran. When Aun’tul decide he needed a Shas’El to lead his newly formed 52nd Sah’iro Heavy Assault Cadre he was having difficult finding a qualified candidate. Upon Shas’El Brathu’angau’s recommendation and Shas’El Lei'nad o'ros'zi approval, Shas’vre Cal’da was transferred to the 52nd Heavy Assault Cadre. Upon his reassignment Shas’o Kais’ka did the unprecedented and nominated Cal’da be promoted to a Shas’o, a move which Aun’tul approved. In skipping a rank and more than 835 Shas’El senior to him, the promotion outraged ranking Tau officers. However, many other Shas’o supported Shas’o Cal’da and believed that, based on his demonstrated ability to command combat forces, the promotion to Shas’o, while unusual, was not out of line.
Shas’o Cal’da quickly showed his worth as a commander, transforming the newly established 52nd Heavy Assault Cadre into a premier anti armor unit. Keeping with his tradition of establish unique techniques tactic and procedures Shas’o Cal’da incorporated a Manta SAW into his Cadre to act as an integral portion of his Patient Hunter tactics with Hammerhead’s and XV-88’s in support, while his XV-8’s, XV-9’s and Piranhas operate a Mont’ka tactic. Shas’o Cal’da is also known to heavily use the attachments from the other Cadres of Sah’iro in combined arms making his attacks extremely deadly.

Go for it, BS. My own background fluff has been stagnating for some time now, mainly through my not getting stuck in and advancing the details.
