Well, this is what I've been up to recently.

It's a hybrid of the XV81, the Farsight kit, a Space Marine and the Citadel Basing Kit.

This is the colourscheme of my whole army, too. I've been a BusyFish....

mmmMuch better. :D

"Chop till you drop" ^^
I get the feeling of a very bitter and sinister Tau-warrior... :dead:
Not evil, but on the edge to become corrupted..

Yes!

That's my vision.

O'Shovah is a commander pushed right into a corner. Cut off from the support of the Empire, surrounded by innumerable enemies on every side and desperately trying to keep his warriors alive. With massed forces of the Empire at your command, you can fight the Tau lightning war, keep distant and pound the enemy into the ground, of course.

But with dwindling supplies and no hope of reinforcements, Farsight has no other options. The art of war is worth nought when you're face to face with the enemy. Eventually, you either fight dirty, you fight tooth and nail with any weapon you can find, or you die.

Farsight isn't ready to die just yet. He's not corrupt, he's out of options.

The skulls on his shoulders are a valuable tool - psychological warfare. Any human or alien coming face to face with him will know instantly that this is not the usual face of the Tau Empire - this is a desperate, brutal army which will stop at nothing to wipe you out in any way necessary.

As an eternally optmistical person, I think O'Shovah will find redemption and will return once more as a hero to the Empire. :D

Absolutely love it, easily the best Farsight conversion I've ever seen. Your vision of him fits mine as well. Dwindling native resources, curtailed RnD, and dramatically different training for his cadres will lead to his force becoming almost entirely different from mainline Tau. Might even split off into its own codex, the same way that some of the Imperium forces did.

Aw, shucks, thanks guys.

Wait until you see the Stealth Team Leader I'm working on right now. He's a bad-ass.

My whole Tau Cadre has elements of Farsight in it - makeshift repairs, psychological ploys, close-combat additions and scavenged equipment.

They're down, but they're not out. Not by a long shot...

about the blood from the marine, I find that if you take a mixture (75 25) of red and green or red and brown ink and place small drops onto the blood drops, it gives a more natural tone.

Hi MiracleFish,

Ohh I like that Farsight very much! Altough I am no fan of O'Shova.
The Armour looks very nice. I like the bright red going into a dark red and then black. that's very cool. And the Kitbashing is done very well - I like!

Do you have some fluff for your farsight interpretation? I never looked at him in that way and it sounds pretty interesting. Maybe I can find myself liking farsight and the whole story about him.

Miraclefish, that is excellent. You've actually helped me as well, as I am about to begin a Farsight army (yes, another one!) using a Forgeworld XV8 and the Wraithsword. This conversion of yours has given me quite a few good pointers.

Very nice, I want to see more!!

I like the visual effect of the shield on the non-sword hand, except functionally it would seem to be hard to shot through it! :P

Where is his target lock in this set up?

All of a sudden I feel a need to buy a Farsight model. I wonder why....

Excellent model and painting Miraclefish. I also have a cool idea for additional photos. Take a couple of SM and put them infront of Farsight, basicly in CC mode. Then add a couple of XV8 models to stand besides you Farsight model and you have a battle of epic proportions.

How wonderfull how one model, and its maker ofcourse, can inspire others.

dude!

Great use of parts- fantastic pose, nice 'backstory' for all the parts- I am impressed! (and now a little concerned about the ATT comp;-)

Personally I am not sold on the colour scheme (bit too much of a traditionalist- too much black) but otherwise a refreshing piece!

Looking forward to seeing your stealth now!;-)

cheers
W

I missed this first time around - it looks great! The black/red combo is quite unique and the conversion/pose is sweet. Not sure on the human skull trophies although I guess Farsight is quite 'unique' :)

The big man knows how to use every possible weapon - humans are so emotional - the sight of their own mortality can win a battle before the first bullet has been fired...

Dr._O'DeepView:

Thanks! The way I see it (and, ho ho, the way O'Shovah sees!) is that his extra large optics on the head function as the Hard-Wired Target Lock. He's got a more sophisticated battlesuit than most.

And as for the shield - the idea isn't for him to shoot through it as such, it's there on the opposite arm to the Dawn Blade. Look at the warriors of reknown throughout history - no-one ever carried their sword or spear and shield in the same hand - it makes no sense. You'd have a choice of offence or defense - never both. If there were any armies who did this, well, they were clearly wiped out and not left around to tell us! And I think that Farsight would be leaping into the air or using his jet pack to gain a safe firing position before smashing into the enemy with his shield arm, butting them back and carving them in half with the blade...sorry, I got a bit too into that didn't I?

warhound: thanks fella, this was my third evolution of a Farsight. The first was a bit too nicey-nicey and the second was a bit too sharp and gnarley. This one, I hope combines the Tau way with a little something extra. I know what you mean about black - but when the whole Cadre is lined up on a table, rifles-a-pointing, it's quite daunting. I get a lot of reactions along the lines of 'black Tau? They look scary!'

Too right!

As for the competition, I've already finished my first model, and my two alternatives for my second entry (undecided as to which so far...) are in the pipeline.

I believe the words appropriate for this situation are...bring it!

Yami Kero: I'll get on the photos later today!
