I recently picked up a Tau Battleforce and a few extra Crisis Battle Suits. Included in the Battleforce was a unit of Stealth Suits, and as I already have a full unit of them and no intent to build another, I was unsure what to do with them. Then I got to thinking a bit about them, and I had an idea. I was a hardcore Robotech geek, and I always loved the look of this particular mecha:

So I got to thinking that the Stealth Suits could be used to create a similar feel with a Crisis Suit. I just started putting pieces together last night, and this is what I came up with.

I also used the Stealth Suit lower leg section and kneecap to extend the lower legs.

It is still work in progress - I want to add some antennae to break up some of the flat lines across the top of the shoulders and I need to do a bit of green stuff work to clean up the connections between the Stealth Suit carapace and the front of the Crisis Suit chest.

I love the leg conversion, very interesting. Not overly keen on the stealth suit head to be honest. The lack of neck thing has always bothered me. Perhaps if the head was raised slightly? Just a little neck would be better in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback! I am thinking of the stealth suit section as less of a head than an extension of the chest/torso - something more like a cockpit than an actual head. I am figuring that a bit of GS work to fill in the gaps will help to make that more obvious...

Very subtle changes, I like it a lot. I actually think the stealth suit head looks pretty frikken cool. I see a nightmare with the legs though, looks great, but I see things breaking often. Where is that Zentraedi suit from I don't recognize it from Macross.

Very nice. Although I think the Stealth head is brilliant, and the legs have one too many joints. But it is certainly creative and a great mod.

/salute.

It is one of the female power armor suits - Miriya pilots one before she switches sides...

Thanks, Hazmatt! I was trying to go for a slightly more animal like leg - the standard crisis suit lower leg would be analogous with a human heel and foot, while the foot becomes more like toes, as if it was standing on tip-toes. I know I have seen some others doing similar leg conversions on ATT.

Hehe that leg style is a matter of stylistic opinion here. Me, I dislike it, but more power to you!

Personally, I love the head on the suit. Might I suggest that you do some diligent green stuffing (or, better for this, milliputing) in all those cracks?

Very different, I like it a lot. My next question becomes ... what is your take on the stealth suit? Something even stealthier? I would love to see it!

How hard was it to assemble it? Was there anything that was harder to get right than the rest?
It looks really nice and one day I might do something similar. You did a great job :D
When you're done and it's been painted it will look awesome. But I agree, it needs an antennae.

(I am sorry for my horrid english, I am trying my best, sorry if it causes any trouble.)

Actually, my stealth suits are remarkably normal - not converted at all! :fear:

The actual conversion work was pretty simple - cut out the back of the stealth suit torso, trim the front of the XV8 chest to fit as closely as possible (removing the collar too), and glue it into place. The legs were a bit more time consuming, as there was a larger amount of cleaning/shaving to be done to make them fit, and to attach the XV8 lower leg sections. Still, the entire operation, from sprue to current state took one evening (about four hours, including dinner!).

As I mentioned previously, I still need to do some green stuff work, and add some detail pieces, I am hoping to get a full unit of three finished this weekend...

Oh and your English is fine - much better than some native speakers I have known! :nice:

I like where this is going, especially the cockpit idea. But I never really found the Stealth Suit's round shape on the boxy shape of the XV-8 too... er... stunning. Maybe you can round out the Crisis body a little to match the cockpit, also the shoulder missile pods seem pretty high above the head. Just a few suggestions

All that aside, I absolutely love what you did with the legs, gives the suit a more dynamic pose! Keep up the great work.

Hmm.. I agree with Speck about maybe trying to round out the crisis a bit. But it could end up really bad, I suppose it's hard to do and if it's badly done it won't look good.

You can try it if you want though, but be careful. :)

I finished the squad this weekend. I rounded the top of the shoulders a bit using the barrels of the Stealth Suit Burst Cannons, then cleaned up the gaps along the torso with green stuff. I think that this answers a lot of the blending issues between the blocky and rounded forms. Finally, I added antennae to all of them, and some extra bits to the leader so he stands out a bit.

I really like the look, but they all seem very interested in whatever is on the ground in front of them. It'd be a pain, but could you pop the 'heads' out of the stealth bits and angle them so they're looking forward more? I like the leader's pose, but it looks more like he's falling, rather than lunging or running.

Looks really good. I kind of wish the Forge World Shas'o R'myr's personal Battlesuit was easier to get a hold of. It would have been the perfect base for this kind of conversion.

Wow - I hadn't seen that model before! I see what you mean - I will have to get ahold of one at some point and make an H.Q. with it!
