I am having a go at something OSH has drafted - I will get back to OSH and then yourself. Thanks for the offer.

Okay, I rearanged my questions as Mnemonic suggested. I got to study for tommorow's exam from Civil Procedure (suprise, I'm not only rules lawyer ;) ), so that's all my contribution before friday. For the Greater Good!

We have this chance to updated and potentially breathing some new life into our favorite 40k army and I don't want to miss the opportunity.

In light of that, I'd like to steer away from producing something that is especially long-winded. My guess is that this will take up precious man-hours at GW and I am to keep the time they have to devote to minimum as we're more likely to get something out of this if they don't have to spend a whole lot of time on it. There are some questions posed here that I am not sure warrant an FAQ and I'd like to consult with Sholto about those.

I gotta say I really appreciate all the help you guys are putting into this. Especially you, Sholto. You deserve an award for quickest and most detailed email responses. I got your email this morning and only had a chance to glance over it but I was surprised at the detail.

The letter goes out tomorrow. I've got the day off and I'll have time to produce something worthwhile.

I must say, I was pretty shocked to see an email from Jervis Johnson in my personal email box!

I'm shocked that anyone at GW even read the letter you sent! Maybe their not all corporate monsters after all. :P

I am not a gamer, so I don't have much to offer this thread, but I am truly happy to see folks contributing and helping out our little Empire. Maybe this will motivate GW to get working on the new Tau Codex! :D Thanks to O'Shatta Hens and Sholto for getting this off the ground and for everyone who contributed.

Hope this works!

An occupational hazard - T'au Doran'ro is not the only lawyer in this thread ;)

Obviously, I'm not a real lawyer yet, cause I failed the Civil Procedure again  , but I going to pass it in the autumn  .

On to the topic: I hope you guys will update us on how the situation is unfolding. Has the letter been sent yet?

I realise this thread is a couple weeks old but if you've not submitted your list I have one to add:

Question: Can a Squad Leader/Shas'ui that has access to infantry wargear make use of the hard wired multi-tracker to fire both a markerlight and pulse weapon?
Context: Infantry wargear table states to refer to the battlesuit entry for hard-wired wargear for the rules related to the system. /however the entry for the multitracker states that the model may "fire two battlesuit weapon systems" Pulse weaponry and markerlights are not listed in the battlesuit armory.
Options: 1) Yes, infantry with access to the armory may make use of hard-wired-multitracker to fire two of their weapon systems per turn
2) No, remove hard-wired multitracker from the infantry wargear.

OSH has already stated that he sent the letter here; so times up unfortunately.

As for your question, it really comes down to RAI. Clearly, the rules intended that the Shas'Ui be able to use both a Markerlight and a Pulse Rifle/Carbine, since you can only really use this if your Shas'Ui has a secondary weapon. This is really a useless upgrade since if you are using the Markerlight, one or two extra pulse shots isn't going to make much of a difference.

Like Wolfs16 said, the multi tracker would only be able to be used if the Shas'ui had 2 weapons, otherwise it's kinda pointless to include it in the infantry wargear list. But if you use a target lock to target something else with the markerlight, and then continue to fire your rifle at the other target that the rest of the team is firing at might cost a lot, but is theoretically a feasible way to use the upgrade efficiently.

The target lock allows a model to fire at a target different that of the rest of the unit. It does not allow a single model to fire 2 weapons in conjunction with a multitracker at two different targets.

Oh wow, my mistake. I've always just assumed that if you took the TL/MT combo you could fire your weapons however you want, battlesuits included. Oh well D:

That really depends on the situation at hand. For one unit, no it's not game-changing. But if you had 2-3 FW squads equipped that way, those extra pulse shots/markerlight counters add up to extra killy power.

In the games I've played to test this, it has added a lot of strategic flexibility.

Not to bring up a dead thread but I didn't feel this warranted a new topic.

Has there been any word on when/if at all GW intends on releasing the revised FAQ? I've done some poking around here on there site and on other forums and haven't seen much of anything.

Nothing on GW site as of today 8 July 2010. ~ E.
