The feral kroot kit-bashing looks REALLY nice. the only problem i have is that with his head down so far, he almost looks like he's cowering as opposed to stalking. I highly recommend trying to figure out a way to get his head tilted further back. Mounting the head a bit higher on the back and clipping some of the quills off the base of the neck can help with this. It'll go a long way in making the kroot more fearsome. :)

@Tehlegend Thanks for your compliment.

The posing was chosen to make them seem unpredictable and dangerous rather than cowering. But the idea of a cornered beast is right up my alley :).

Today has been a major hobby day - I finished off the other eight kroot ferals, made myself a good-looking crisis suit (my first major conversion on our XV8 friends) and something else that I can show you.

(I apologise for the odd lighting in these shots - my normal place for photography was occupied by my housemates RPGing... :()

So first up: Kroot Ferals

I should have these guys 100% finished modelling wise when I dig up my kroot bitz box...

Crisis Shas'ui

Image
Image

(I know it's a simple conversion, but I like it a lot....)

and... the 'Space Elf Hoverbike Witches from CHS' (my count as Jetbike seer council...)

Image

... and that's about it for my hobby weekend. I should be refining my XV8s at some point this week so they are more inline with the standard on this site (at the moment, they are boring boxes :().

There should be some fluff coming soon - I have been rather busy moving back into my place in Leicester and it's been put on the back burner.

Beyond that, I have a game on weds vs Black Templars... wish me luck.

Love and Kisses,

X

Hello!

Another wordy update from me - photos soon I promise!

I have been writing my story in my free time (which has unfortunately diminished significantly over the past few weeks) and keeping tabs on my hobby work.
Recently I purchased another three Valkyrie kits to make my Elysians some rides, meaning that when I finish sticking them together, I'll have a functional 1,000pt army list.

With regards to my Tau, I have recently finished building my new Shas'O and Shas'el models and started to go through my Bitsbox to make my preexisting crisis suits more exciting looking with the addition of kneepads and the like (not a touch on some other people's conversion work on here, but my own attempt nonetheless...) I've finally succeeded in sticking O'R'alai's arms on his body and I've started to stick the rest of the XV9's to their bases. (Nineteenth attempt with O'Ralai btw.)

My Eldar have received minor painting updates with a few of my infantry models being undercoated and some detail beginning to be implemented. These guys will be painted before the Tau I'm afraid as they are a little more pressing to finish (I have a large apocalypse game coming up in the middle of February vs IG, Tau and BTs - there will be lots of photos I promise :))

I'll be putting up photos of my new acquisitions tomorrow evening if the weather's nice.

Love and Kisses,

Xanadu

So.

As promised, here are some photographs of the things I've been working on recently - I apologise if the lighting is slightly off in a few of them, working through the daylight hours makes it a tad difficult to take good quality photos.

So, without further ado:

The Fireknife La'rua

I had wanted to try at converting and posing suits differently to the boxy ones I already have in bucketloads, and consequently set about modifying the heads and arms of these suits to come up with what I thought was a slightly better looking suit.

Image
Image

Here is a few more images, a couple of team photographs, featuring my new Shas'el model a converted XV84 Forgeworld kit.

Image
Image
Image

And finally a picture or two of my shiny new Shas'O model - a kitbashed XV9/ XV84 hybrid that I think turned out quite nicely.

Image

Finally a picture of what's in store for the weekend :)

Love and Kisses,

X

That's some great kit bashing on the Kroot, such an obvious choice of alternate body with all the spinal 'spiky bits'. I suggest having a peak at this project on DakkaDakka by Migsula, he has made 'Twists', abhumans fighting alongside his Alpha Marines chaos force, you'll find them halfway down the thread page. I think he shows how he goes about drawing up their stooped stances for some variety.

The Eldar, are they GW norm, odd colour plastic?

- Tael.

Well executed XV-9/XV-84 hybrid. I really like the look of the plasma rifle, it just seems fitting on the XV-9. The bashing was so simple, yet looks flawless that I had to take a moment and figure out what exactly you had done.

Excellent work!

@Tael

Thanks for the compliments - I had already seen that thread as part of my 'conversion preparation', but given that I have little to no experience with green stuff, I decided to avoid anything too complex.
The Eldar conversion kits for the Warlocks aren't GW - they are a Chapterhouse casting of a 'Space Elf Jetbike rider' It's lucky I got them before the lawsuit kicked off over there - they really are fantastic kits.

@Ar'ka

Thankyou very much! I can't take all the inspiration - I owe that much to Shas'saal Aardvark here on ATT for giving me the idea. I pretty much copied his commander!

I should have some Eldar at 3 colours after the weekend, so hopefully this'll be the first update of many as I plough into painting.

Hello Everyone!

This is another wordy update, sorry for a lack of pictures.

I have been playing with my Eldar for the most part at the moment, but I have had a great run with them recently. I have had five games in the last few weeks, in two of which I tabled my opponent, a draw and a couple of games in which I almost tabled the opponent, only to lose due to guys hiding on the objectives I had tried to clear (damn you random game length!) One of which was the game ending on turn five, right before I slagged the Assault Squad with my Fire Dragons :(.

I have the majority of my Eldar painted to the 3-4 Colours standard in preparation for a tournament that I should be playing in within the recent future. My Grav-tanks are almost finished, needing a few more metallics adding to them and a bit more Warlord Purple. They look okay at the moment, and I am contemplating sorting the chevrons out to be more exciting than white on my Fire Prisms (am thinking a red and yellow stripe to make them easily distinguishable from the Wave Serpents).

[One thing I have noticed is that people don't seem to be able to distinguish Eldar tanks very easily even if they look totally different to the other classes, I want to avoid this from happening again - it is very annoying when people shoot at the floaty purple things without dignifying them with a name.]

and finally, I am involved in another Apocalypse game at the weekend which means that more photographs to come... I am taking my Eldar along, but as there will be Tau on the opposing force, I shall spread photos all over this wonderful site. So more to come people :).

See you round,

Xanadu

Another Apocalypse battle?! As if one isn't crazy enough.
Out of interest, (I've never played a game larger than 1500 points), how long does it take you guys to play out one Apocalypse battle?
Backtracking in your thread slightly, I really like the battlesuits you made, and the crypt ghoul kroot hounds as well. Particularly my favourites are the XV9 commander kit-bash and the FW XV8 suit with the markerlight on its back, (I forget its proper number identification). The FW suit has this great sense of weight and power to it.

I have three questions for you, if I may:

1) Can we see some close ups of the infantry models in your Eldar army? Specifically the Fire Dragons since they've always been my favourite aspect warrior.
2) Where did you get the base for your Revenant? Loads of people seem to use a similar platform for their Titan models, but I've never known whether they've had to search endlessly for it, make it themself or if indeed it just came supplied with the model.
3) Will the nicely painted Death Guard and Red Scorpions armies be making an appearance in the upcoming battle?

Enjoy your supersized battle then!

Fi'rios Shi'ur

PS. Seeing your latest post reminded me of the PM you sent me. I read it the morning before an exam, then when I got back to my PC later in the day I didn't have the '1 New Message' notification to prompt my atrophied brain into remembering what I had planned to do. Suffice to say I had completely forgotten about it till just now, so apologies are in order!! :dead:
Anyway, I'll power through my homework tonight to leave tomorrow morning free to have a look at it.
Sorry again!

What a day yesterday was.

My god, at 8.30am my team mate told me he couldn't make the game any more, so I had to inflate my Eldar list to 4K by incorporating stupid numbers of Psykers and aspect Warriors. When I got to the venue, I realised I'd forgotten my Titan, and ran home to pick it up. By the time I'd got back to the venue (a friend's house), they dropped the bombshell that I'd be fighting a Reaver Titan - not fun.

The Teams were as follows 7.5K a-side:

Tau, Black Templars, Imperial Guard vs Eldar, Ultramarines and Steel Legion

The following Strategems were chosen:

Tau etc: Recon, Hammer blow, Null field generator
Eldar etc: Eldritch Tempest, Flank March, Disruptor Beacon

I won't divulge all of the details at the moment, as I haven't uploaded most of my photographs but there were some very epic moments in-game with snipers in Steel Eagles shooting structure points off of the Reaver, the Revenant dying in Close Combat to TH/SS terminators after shrugging off all of the Tau Railguns, Eldrad Ulthuan killing an entire Platoon with his Seer Council, the three Black Templars Dreadnaughts wrecking a baneblade before being Mauled by the Jetseers.

Alas, after the Revenant Titan fell, our already depleted firebase was crippled and the sheer number of Assault Terminators in our Deployment zone meant that we had lost in a major way - but not as badly as I had anticipated with our non-optimised 7.5K army (grr players dropping out at the last minute grrr...)

Photographs should be up tomorrow morning. :) [Given that time was a factor, I only have a few photographs of the game past turn 3 as we were rapidly approaching the predesignated End Time.

@Fi'rios

This game took us 7 hours to do 4 Turns each, but the gargantuan game that I was in last term took two days of ten hours to complete.

Thanks for the compliments regarding my suits, I am very happy with the way they have turned out for me :). The XV84 is now my 'acting commander' before I get the time around to painting all of my Crisis suits.

No, you will not be seeing close-ups of my Aspect warriors until they are more than orange and tan helmets - sorry, but I hate showing painting that isn't at least 50% complete - they have been made 3 colours in preparation for a tournament and I'll go over them later to make them more beautiful :).

The Revenant base was from a trophy manufacturing company that I located using a search engine - Forgeworld never provide bases for their larger models, leaving it up to the player to sort it how they wish.

Again, no they didn't - but the Tau army I played against was nicely painted, and I think I have a few good photographs of Ultramarines vs Black Templars in melee.

... I had wondered if you'd forgotten - I have the next part around 50% written too, so if I get time, I'll send it over to you this week at some point. :)

Right, some pictures of the apocalypse game (as promised :))

This game was on-way near as large as the other and was played on a 6' x 8' board.

Without further ado!

Now, unfortunately, the rest of my photographs were lost - documenting the rise and fall of the Revenant titan and the charge of the seer council as well as the placement of the Tempest.

Hope these photos are okay for you guys ;)

She's looking pretty vicious there Xanadu! The only thing I would point out...and it may be fresh paint, but the torso is very glossy. Not sure if that's what you'd want, but I would figure it would be more dulled for their lifestyle...perhaps with splashes of glossy blood across the torso from a recent kill.

Maybe I wanted it to look glossy and purposefully put gloss varnish on her.. ;)

She isn't finished just yet, I have to work on shading her chest and finish the face, but this is the overall quality level I am aiming for so I have a tabletop ready army in a short space of time.
