Hey! Looks GREAT!

I especially like your Battle Standard, it looks so realistic  ! What were the steps & colors involved in painting that?

Now, I'd like to make one suggestion if I could; have you ever considered drilling out your gun barrels? It would really add another level of realism that would make your force look even better!

Regardless, Amazing work man!

Hi mate,

While your force does look pretty sweet and there are some great conversions in there, it probably would help us all if you would give us an explanation as to what your army is all about and why you're posting it up. This is even more important than with usual army showcases as this is a Tau forum.

As it stands this is a low quality post, sweet models or not.

I originally wanted some guevesas for my Tau, I have a couple converted with pulse guns. Then the men of the imperium just started to multiply like a disease. They are just too fun to collect and paint. They will be my Planetary Defense Force for my Tau planet. The army is infantry based as you can tell, I will add more when they are done.

I haven't thought about drilling the barrels, I may go back in the near future to do that after some practice.

Which flag are you refering to? If its the tan looking one: prime black, drybrush codex grey, drybrush commando khaki, devlan mud wash, after it dries, some more khaki drybrushing, then the other colors: taucept yellow, then mud wash, carefully drybrush shinning gold, then gryphon sephia wash etc.

I really like how the coats of the horses are all different. Makes them much more realistic - especially the fur around the ankles.

Looking great!

The fun thing for me was finding all the last chancer models you hid in all the squads.
Good painting, good basing. And because you got a lot of mixed weapons, they really feel like Tau auxilliary.

Great work on both this army and your Tau!

The Valkyrie is spot on. I love the use of the 'drone bits' as winches.

Thanks, I used 2 drone bits after cutting off the parts that stuck out, then used the canopy bar from the sentinel for the mechanism that moves, I cut the extra from the bar to fit into the hole sections from the drone bits on one end, then the other is stuck into a chimera anttenna part which support two more drone bits for the rope i use for the winch mechanism.

Ha I didn't even notice the tau bits for the winch at first. I love when people model a few guys decending from the valk. How do you transport that though? That's the only thing stopping me from trying it.

The chimeras also look great; it's hard to make grey look good but you've definitely done it.

If those are decals they look really well done (can't see the trim) and if it's freehand - great again.

The guys is on a rope so it isn't hard to transport it, I have it in a sabel double wide 4" deep for the valk and some chimeras on the side; those are decals, I brush over the decals after they are dry with GW gloss varnish to seal it, then a matte clear acrylic from a hobby store to dull it before matte varnish it.

I've ordered some flavor heads for conversion from madrobots: a set of personality heads and a set of veterans with rebreathers. They're going to be my 'expendables' ops team for my inquisitor.

I'm really fond of this one. How easy is it to work with that kit? I had considered buying some to use as "Human Auxiliary" tetras just because I liked the model so much. Obviously though, I'd want to "Tau-ify" the kit so if it's difficult to work with I may just go with standard tetras.

The kit imo is easy, though some parts are fragile. I tend to paint certain parts separately then glue them together. The tauros is about the same size as the tetra but slightly wider. I'd give a go.
