Hi All,

With the setting up of my painting gear again, came access to my bits and parts. After a swathe rabid converting on various Fantasy projects I have been thinking about for months, I finally settled on a Fio project of mine, inspired in part by the discussions on ATT covering day to day Tau gear.

The Fio'Or'Vesa is put together using :

Space Marine Tank Cupola
Flying Base (Dome)
Four Imperial Guard Chimera Lasgun roundels
SM Land Speeder parts
Various sundry items that worked and Kabuki Model parts.
FW Shoulder

Presently he is built at 80%, next is Greenstuff work to blend parts together and finish some seam lines neatly. The work in progress photos :

Fiction wise, the right arm is a highly advanced nail/rivet/welding tool. The two large roundels being sonic material assessors. Checking seams, framework struts behind the work spot and micro-stress fractures. The other arm is for gripping materials and manipulating site objects during usual project work. However it also allows a manual override; allowing a Fio’la to use the left arm naturally when working through the Vesa as a hazardous environment remote, essentially slaving the Vesa to become an extension of the Fio'la, to work where the tau cannot.

I’ll post more images as I progress through the blending work and some minor additions.

- Tael :)

Very nice Tael,

I can't wait to see how you masterfully handle the paint work. :D

I've been wanting to dive into a quick drone conversion since that thread popped up a few months ago, and seeing this might just get the fire started.

Cheers,

modelglue

Tael, I can't help but be extremely envious of you. I'm not the worlds worst artist or anything but your painting skills are freakishly awesome. The first thing I saw when I popped in to check out your drone I noticed how ridiculously good that fire warrior looks. I feel great about my painting accomplishments until I start looking at your stuff...so I'm going to have to ask you to remove all your photos containing you painted models on them because your skill offends reason. :P

I'm just joking really, I love seeing your work and aspire to eventually be as good as you. Anyway I love the drone, very cool and a bit too far out of the creative portion of my mind to come up with.

I am curious about the bolts on the arms. Is that hand-crafted or something from FW?

As ever Teal, really great stuff that will no doubt inspire.... well everyone. (I'm routing through my spares right now :smile: ) It won't be long until we see these things popping up all over the site.

Nice to see you working hard again (loving your WHQs thread).

I've been wanting to do "counts as xv-8" drones for awhile so I must ask, what did you use to get the near perfect scoring detail on that base?

Man Tael you make the rest of us look lie complete tools :D I'm glad that my thread has been a good source of inspiration here on ATT and as always it's a great end result. How big is it compared to a normal battlesuit?

Thanks all, been great to get my bits shelves back and in one place! :D

I'm going to clean up the joins about the arms and work in some conduits to the main work tool. Few more items to bulk him out and of course, a tow hook on the back, just like my original Fio'Vesa a while back.

@Blueshock
The bolts are from a Hobby Japan detailing kit. You can grab them cheaply from most import modelling stores online. Quite a few available so expect to browse a little while :)

@Rus'El
Thanks man, been enjoying and envying your modelling/terrain of late! Be adding more to the WHqst thread soon too ;)

@Abraxus
The scoring? Firstly I etched the line carefully with a scalpel over a premarked line pencil over sanded surface). Once this was done, I worked a scoring tool about the circumference several times, never rushing. I found it easier however to go straight by the indented parts and then Greenstuff over the wrong line. Less angles, so I could score continuously without issue.

@O'ka'mesa
Man, I've been enjoying all the converting on ATT lately. Tools of the creative - "I have a hobby desk and you don't Tael" - kind :P If I was going to do something interesting I would have to step up when I next posted, so voila'! ;)

@Dann9tjk
Thanks man, looking forward to updates on your weapons platform!

@Kern
Yeah.. I know. Been like a and OCD for parts collecting :D I was hoping to work in a "face" might change it though, we'll see.

Thanks gang!
- Tael.

I have been pondering about what to do with those Chimera-Lasguns.

My thoughts have been going into the same direction as yours, but I did not get that thought to an end, till now!

So now that I know how to turn them into arms, I'll have to think about who will get that arm.

(okay, I might have an idea ...)
