While not GW, this is something I think that many Tau players would want in their army...

It has lights!

These are the final pre-paint photos, and ThreeA has announced that it will FINALLY be available for sale Jan. 2012. No specific date or set price that I'm aware of, but this model's been in the works for a long time, and I know I'm going to snag one to use as a superheavy walker... ;)

On a related note, have you seen that conversion someone did of Rex out of tau parts? It's pretty amazing- viewtopic.php?f=35&t=17942&hilit=metal+gear+rex+conversion

It's actually going to be sold Painted, I believe. And-if my eyes aren't failing me-that's Snake in the cockpit! Fully poseable though, so that's pretty dang cool. If you -do- repaint it, though, try not to cover up the lights! :P

And that is why it does not belong into the GW/FW New releases thread.

Orpheus Hangar I moved this to the correct forum.

That is a great looking piece, but I have a feeling the price tag is going to be through the roof.

From the reference picture it's the better part opf 17-18 inches tall which is twice the size of a warhound titan. Plus the rex has a lot more bulk in the legs and body. Even if it's just a raw resin kit it'd probably cost 3 times what a warhound does, as when you go up in size the volume of resin used is about 4 times as much (not just twice as much)

The figure in lighting effects and painting, OMG you are talking some huge number. I'm thinking this is going to be well over $1k at minimum, probably in the $2k-$3k range. Most japanese resin kits make ForgeWorld look cheap.

They sell 12" action figures starting at $100+.... their site reeks of the phrase "if you have to ask how much it is then you obviously can't afford it".

Certainly would any nice to have one but I think for the average gamer this is going to be a pipe dream piece.

Well, this is simply the master; I THINK that the real deal will be plastic, but only time will tell. Having a definite measurement for once is very nice, though; we know that this one is going to be big enough to field! And a little digigng on Wikipedia found that it's based out of Hong Kong, not Japan, so we'll see if that makes any difference when production begins.

The gundam perfect grade kits are mass produced plastic and still expensive as hell, a lot of those kits run between $200-$300 with some going for as high as $600, and those aren't even assembled or painted. (they are molded in full color though)

I've seen a few of the G system gundams go for $1k+ for the prebuilts with fiber optic lighting. Given the size of this and what stuff typically runs from specailty companies (hot toys for instance) it's not going to be cheap. I'm definitely interested in seeing what the price tag is on it as I'd love one but I still think it's going to be well out of the ball park for most gamers as they tend to cry when they have to buy a $60 model...

Really insanely expensive kits from Hong Kong, including a $15K gundam wtf?
