Ok guys, my buddy and I broke out the box o' imperial and choas cruisers and started our first practice games as preliminary preparations for the Adepticon BFG tournament coming in April we have signed up for. After three games and extensive research using the Newest main rule book, the armada book, and the 2010 FAQ we answered all of the questions that came up EXCEPT one and although we both agree on it we don't know if the rules agree with us!?

Here is the Question: if a cruiser takes a critical hit table result of Port armament Damaged or Starboard Armament Damaged can you still launch ordinance (fighter craft) from the port and starboard launch bays...We believe that you cannot until it is repaired but the rules read like this:

Page 24 BFG: Starboard Armament Damaged: The starboard armament is taken offline by the hit. The ships starboard armament may not fire until it has been repaired.

We both agreed that because it said FIRE it is meaning weapons systems (batteries / lances / torpedoes) but not the launch bays? Can anyone clear this up for us (and also give us reference material to back that up!)

Note: We might have totally missed this in the faq or even the main rulebook but we were pretty thorough!

Thanks Guys!

I don't have the materials on hand, but I believe it knocks out one armorment on that side, not all of them. This means either one or the other is disabled not both.

If memory serves, that is indeed what happens, although many ships only have one starboard/port armament. If I recall there was also a separate critical hit that dealt with launch bays, although that may have been a figment of my imagination.

So anybody that does have the rulebook in front of them like I do have a comment. (I appreciate the earlier two attempts guys but going from memory doesnt help as I have the book right here but it stil looks very unclear, hence the post). Im looking for page and paragraph that answers my question because I am missing it or because there is some other faq type doc I'm missing (I have at my disposal Armada, main rule book, and BFG 2010 FAQ)
