Hi! In addition to playing my beloved Tau, I started picking up Eldar to play in 40k, because they--like the Tau--look really really neat. They also offer a different style of painting and a different way of play, and a little variety is always nice I also play High Elves in Warhammer Fantasy, which I chose because--again--I really liked the way they look. I am still in the process of painting both my Eldar and my High Elves, but I have enough of them finished at this point to start posting around the internets. I had originally come up with a color scheme of my own for my Eldar, but I painted a single model in Ulthwé's colors and fell in love with it. So, without further ado, I will start off with them. Wraithlords are probably my favorite unit in the Eldar army, just because of their appearance. That they can deliver a serious beating also helps, too ^_^ I have several Farseers to paint, but here is the first one that I did up (and was also the model that made me switch to this paint scheme) I also have a few Autarchs, but this was the first one that I painted up. I have another on a jetbike, and want to get the new Finecast model to be a third

Here is a squad of Dire Avengers, some Pathfinders, Eldrad, and a Wraithlord in my original color scheme Now for some High Elves...this is a kinda poor-quality picture (I'll try and get a better one when I finish the second chariot) of a White Lion Chariot. High Elf Prince/Noble mounted on a Griffon, from the Island of Blood set And some of my Dragon Princes of Caledor. I have added five more to the unit, as well as making a mounted Prince/Noble, but haven't taken new pictures of that yet. So here's the original bunch

Actually, I just noticed that the mounted Prince/Noble is in that last pair of photos on his/her right of the block. My mistake

That's a good standard of painting you have there, Hlali. I like the first Farseer in particular. Well done.

Woo! I got my magnets from K&J Magnetics and put them on my Wraithlords and Wave Serpents! I'm almost finished with the Serpents, so I'll have some new pictures of those up along with the weapons I did for all the Wraithlords (had to snap off the bright lances).
Also, my partner is painting up my Harlequins with the theme of Batman villains for their paint scheme. I'll post those up as well when she finishes the whole troupe!

Here are my Wave Serpents, fully painted and magnetized: I was a little perplexed with how to do the magnetization, but finally figured something out. EDIT: To explain what I did, since the picture is a little blurred, I had to cut notches in the weapons that were 3/16" wide (since my magnets for the turrets were 3/16" x 3/16" x 1/32"). So the magnets are recessed into the weapons, and then sit over the turret's "arms". The side-covers then click onto the ends of the "arms" to cover everything up. The Wraithlord was considerably easier to magnetize:

Despite getting SO MANY COMMENTS AND TIPS AND ADVICE...I'll go ahead and post up my latest creation. Captain Severus of the Ultramarines Third Company (based on a Deathwatch RPG character) was previously a Devastator sergeant in the 3rd and 9th Companies (as well as being part of the Deathwatch for a while). I have a lot of story and fluff about him, but I can post that up later. Anyhow, he is very focused on shooting, and so he's kitted out in-game to be very durable and ranged combat. I had to modify a few things (like a storm bolter off a Dark Angel terminator arm) as well as the shield on his arm...but nothing super-serious. Here he is unpainted: And then (after 5 hours of painting), painted: Hope you enjoy!

Hi Hlali You are very creative and your skills are good. I especially like the banshees and the dragon But i see some points for improvement: 1. Some parts of your models seem to be a bit flat, like the metal parts of the dragon princes or the white skirts/helmets of the Farseers. You can try to experiment with inks or layering. But be careful, especially with the white parts. 2. If two materials of a similar brightness meet (like the golden symbols on the farseers white breastplate) , it could be helpful to make an outline between those materials.

A thin application of some sepia wash will outline the symbols and stuff for you. Just have a Q-tip or something to take off any extra or run away wash that you might not need.

Ahh, sepia wash. I'll need to keep that in mind for my Eldar. I think I've noticed the flatness, but sometimes my brain floats off and I forget to do everything. I often do washes, but sometimes I forget, or think that it's not needed. I've not tried layering, and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with it. But, I think I will be forever learning, and I'll try to keep everyone's suggestions in mind Thank you!

Finished up several squads over the past couple weeks, since the 40k League that's taking place also has a competition for painting, as well as giving points for how many models you get painted during the league. At this point, I'm finally down to two squads of Dire Avengers, an Autarch on a jetbike, and a squad of Shining Spears. I've started using a brown-hued wash on more models when it's appropriate. You'll notice I didn't use them on the Warp Spiders, because I feel it wouldn't fit them, and wouldn't show up anywhere but their helmets, really, which I wanted to stand out. First off, the Wraithseer. I decided to make it a lot brighter than most of the other models, since it's special: I also re-did one of my Autarchs; changing her weapon to a chainsword and going over her with a sepia wash. Here are my Warp Spiders. In retrospect, I may hit their Warp Generators with a bit of the sepia: And Swooping Hawks. Yeah, I know everyone says they suck, but they're really pretty models, and I got them for free, so bugger off: And finally my babies, the Striking Scorpions: Enjoy!

Also, a couple of those bases need some final detail (like the Scorpion Exarch) and they all need to be flocked. I'll get around to that...someday XD

I'm not very talented at doing the nice bases like those. At best, I could probably try to get some more of the terrain gravel/sand stuff and use a bit of grass here and there, with more gravel and stones. I like the first image's base more than the second two, since the latter ones seem over-involved for the amount of abuse my models are going to take until I can get a carrying case for them. Thank you for the tips, though. I'll start getting on those bases XD

I think this is the most time-consuming, single model I've ever painted. 9 hours total. Completed Avatar of Khaine, spear-wielding variant from Forge World: I find it amusing that it has the same, incredible booty as the Banshees (am I allowed to say "dat ass"?). And I do plan on painting the base.

Wow, these are pretty nice. I tried the white+sepia wash (at least that's what I assume you did for the Wraithlord and Swooping Hawks) for the Terminators from Dark Vengeance, and... it didn't come out as well. The avatar skin came out awfully well too; what'd you use for the interior yellow? And how'd you blend the spear tip?
