I noticed a few of the lads at the tournament I dropped into using these sort of markers, stunned, shaken, destroyed etc..

I had a PM chat with BOHICAbob and I am now working on an official ATT set if you guy are interested.

They use my very crisp icon art style, things like vibration lines about a devilfish chassis indicating 'shaken' etc.

Any advice guys? What would the dream set include for you?

Look forward to your feedback guys.

I am aiming to have them as a downloadable PDF to print in Tau blue or greyscale :)

~ Tael.

Good idea. Something I've been wanting to do for ages, but never got around to it.

Make them the same size as standard infantry bases, that way you can stick it to the base and it won't get broken. Makes for easy transportation as well.

wicked idea, definitely thinking stylised markers would be rather cool.

Well, since we are talking Tau - a custom "markelight hit" marker would be cool.

not a suggestion about the artwork, but how bout putting the descriptor (shaken, stunned, immobilized, etc) in tau lettering around the outer edge?

Maybe add a "landed" one too, for the few times we touch down

And don't forget a few "pinned" counters. It's easy to forget who's been pinned and who hasn't after I light off all my gun drones.

While I really love the cartoon ones shown in a seperate thread, it would be really neat to have a modern stylized set of tokens from Tael. Of course you can't sell them, but you could put a .PDF tutorial on how to print them out and assemble them on a 20mm base or something similar.

Tau lettering sounds fun, but I think clear english text would be more readable, with Tau font as decoration.

Here's my suggestion for the tokens:

Heads / Tails

Markerlight / Smoke
Crew Shaken / Crew Stunned
Weapon Destroyed / Immobilized
Squad Broken / Pinned

Wounded or damage should be tracked with a die instead of a token. Landed vehicles are simply removed from their flying base.

I'd prefer a clean comic book style look. The icons need to be stylized enough to be recognized at a glance. I'm not keen on Tau alphabet being used as that means nothing to me or my opponent while gaming.

I like the stunned and shaken results from the link in the other thread. I think the other ones need a little more thought but using either Tau infantry or vehicles would be appropriate.

definitely needed:

pinned

stunned, shaken, immoble, destroyed

markerlight (black outline of a guy firing a ML, action lines?)

I think perhaps one side should have the symbol, and the other side have the word (perhaps with smaller tau lettering underneath?)

i really like the idea of the vibrant lines with outlines and action lines, i can almost picture it. Really good idea.

you need:

crew stuned
crew shaken
wepon destroyed
immobilized
destroyed
pinned
broken (falling back)
markerlight counter
and a wound counter would be nice..most peopel use dice but they tend to get mixed in with other dice and forgottin about

also you could make a turn spinner

its two pieces pinned together the bottom layer has the numbers and the top layer has the design and a whole were the turn number shows threw...that would be cool to

come to think of it you would make wound counters the same way

the only multiwound models we have are battlesuits so they are interchangeable

Thank you guys, this is exactly the feedback I needed. I'll work on a set for every idea then show you the concepts.

Any other ideas? keep posting :)

Cheers!
Tael.

You could even make a double sided token for anything up to three wounds. No token equals full stength. Then have one side of the token say two wounds and one say one wound. That way you'd be able to keep track pretty easy.

I have some tiny Skull Beads for Wound Markers.
I've Magnetized them, and placed a Magnet in the base of Multiwound Mini's.
There is one less Skull than wounds, Mini's start out with a Skulls on.
Then I just remove one skull for each wound.
When the Skulls run out, the next hit takes the mini.

I think this idea is ace!

I'd also much rather have them be iconographic rather than written words. I.E. a Devilfish with vibration lines for shaken rather than something with the word "shaken" on it. Makes it more fun/unique and has applicability for our international members too!

I'd be interested in exploring avenues for making them a bit more substantial as well. The 40k fight club (local gaming group) got some laser cut wood turn counters awhile back which are really nice. Something like that or perhaps something in heavy plastic laminate could go a long way.

This is a superb idea and I think it deserves quality implementation. Let us know if you need/want any help Tael! :D

I know you couldn't sell finished products but could you get around that. Like say for instance, we all join a club with a membership fee and the counters are a membership "gift". I'm know nothing about the law.

Somewhat off the beaten track here, but what would I have to do to get some concept tokens of BattleFleet Gothic tokens in your style, Tael? I've always found that we've never enough orders dice for the inevitable BRAC FOR IMPACTing our gaming group goes in for.
Having said that, I've half a mind to 'echo' whatever's produced if you don't fancy the extra work!
